Strength:
Good looking, fuel economy, decent power
Weakness:
I have had nothing but problems with the car. Automatic transmission shifts extremely poorly, is hard to start when there is 1/4 tank of gas, the front suspension makes a "ping" noise when driving over even smooth pavement. I was told that all 2000 civics have similar problems, and I beleive it, too. Similar Products Used: Dodge Neon, I couldn't see out of the back window when reversing, poor quality history. Toyota Corolla, too expensive for what you get. |

Civic
Strength:
Over-rated resale value (good for the seller)
Weakness:
Miileage lower than expected, upholstery did not hold up, doors had trouble closing toward the end, parts were outrageously expensive, for the price paid could and should have selected a larger car. After for years having read Consumer Guides glowing recommendations of Hondas, I decided to try a used Civic. At 35,000 miles, the car was well maintained (had my mechanic check compression, suspension, etc.) and the car ran well. However, for the six years I had it, the car was a supreme PIECE OF CRAP! Repairs included (but not limited to) CV joints on both sides, head gasket replaced, (twice), fuel pump replaced, starter replaced, and expansion valve replaced (air would work, except when it was REAllY hot! Never got more than 28mpg in mixed driving (got worse mileage than our 1985 caravan with 2.2 liter engine). Final straw was when the head gasket was replaced for the second time. ANyone with a Honda lemon, don't despair! There are people lining up to buy your used Honda, even if it is a piece of crap! P.T. Barnum was right. |

Strength:
Great on gas (cause gas is too damn expensive), Can be easily made pretty, more aftermarket products then you can shake a stick at, handles like a little race car.
Weakness:
My 2 stroke lawnmower has more horsepower }:-) Well in the first 2 weeks i spent 1000 tinting windows and throwing in a shifter, pedels, and 2 12" subs in the trunk, now i get heads turning with both looks and sound. It's the best car for the price and its better then a lot of cars more expensive. This car is the best for 16+ year old students like me. I am happy with it and i know its going to be there for me whenever i need it. Similar Products Used: my parents drive a 2000 Acura 3.5RL, and a 2001 Mercedez S430 which are two of the most beautiful cars in the world, but i love my little race car |

civic coup EX
Strength:
sporty, more pep and torque than previous years, very fuel efficent, new dash and interior is very sleek looking, 15' wheels standard, flat floor in back seat, headlights look better than older models, smooth ride, no more side molding looks cleaner,
Weakness:
I think that I like the new body style. I am still not used to it. I cannot stand the fact that people regularly mistake my car for a ford focus. I think the focus looks incredibly cheap and I hope my new civic looks nothing like that! the only weakness that I have encountered other than that is with the gas light. It is very inconsistant. Sometimes it comes on when the guage shows that I have 1/4 a tank left.Other times I can drive arround with it on E for two days before the light comes on. I am not too worried, I shouldn't let my tank get that empty anyway. It could just take a little more time to break in properly, I only have 1100 miles on it. I am very happy that Honda has done away with cigarette lighters and ash trays, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what to do with the compartment right under the radio. It is such a strange space. ( anyone who ownes or has been in a 2001 civic will know what I am talking about) Overall I love my 2001 civic coup. I think that the older models looked a little better stock than the new model, but it still looks very clean and sporty. If my biggest problem with my car is figuring out what to do with a random compartment in the dash, than I am doing pretty good. Honda is cheap, reliable, and easy on the eye. what else could you ask for? Similar Products Used: I have owned a Jetta GLI and a 1994 EX civic coup. My jetta was the biggest piece of #%*@ ever on this earth! It was very cute, but it spent more time in the shop than in my garage. I loved my 94 civic so much that I replaced it with the newer model when it got totaled. I feel a lot safer in the 2001 with the newer airbags, the side airbags, and the newly designed front end. My old civic ran perfectly and I am sure that this one will also. Of coarse I like it a little better because it is newer. |

Honday Civic LX
Strength:
Gas mileage, average 38mpg highway. Lots of inside room in the front and back seats. Good acceleration/power and handling. Great exterior paint.
Weakness:
Stiff suspension (may need new shocks) I drive my Honda Civic approximately 100 miles per day. It is extremly dependable and economical. Including all my expenses (initital, cost, oil changes, 15K, 30K, 60K services, tires every 40,000 miles, taxes, insurance, etc, the vehicle costs me only $0.12/mile to drive. I've now got 230,000 miles on the vehicle and the only major mechanical problems I've had were a clutch replacement and distributor replacement. After all the miles the car still is in great condition (both inside and out). Exterior paint looks as good now as it did new and it is parked in the sunlight for the majority each day. I'll buy another one if this one ever gives out. Similar Products Used: I've had Toyota products in the past and the Honda compares similarly. |

Honda Civic Sedan GL
Strength:
Good acceleration for a small and old car. Very Good gas mileage. 1.5 liter. Cheap parts. Light body
Weakness:
Limited speed. Only up to about 140 kph max. It shakes when i reach about 110 kmp. Soft body, you dent it preety easily (its a japanese car what do u expect!). Rust builds up and paint job is bad (wat can u expect its a 15 year old car) i've had this for about 4 and a half year and im the third owner of this car.. i didnt made any maj0r repairs except for the axle and ball joint. I would recommend this car for kids who are just starting to drive. it saves you gas money. its easy to drive. it would give you a great performance if you maintain it well. Honda Cive EX 2Dr
Strength:
The car has a lot of strenths, good gas mileage, pretty good acceleration, handles really well, looks really sharp, I find the seats to be pretty comfortable, very reliable.
Weakness:
I love this car in almost every way but sadly it was in an accident (while it was parked no less) causing nearly $8000.00 in damage. It should have been totaled out but the insurance company didn't. I tried to fight it but lost. Since it was it it's had an annoying rattle in the back side where it was hit. Also the trunk leaks now and they can not get it to stop. I still like the car though, just not the damage that was done to it. Overall I am pleased with the car. I drive a lot and I've put a good number of miles on it, it's at 80,000 now and I expect to get at least a 100,000 out of it before I get rid of it. The only reason I am going to get rid of it is because of the accident it was in. I recommend it to anyone. Similar Products Used: This is only my second car. My first car was a '91 Dodge Colt. It was a reliable car, but it was a very stripped down model. I did not even have power steering. |

Strength:
The car gets good gas milage and the drive is comfortable. The enterior and trunk have a lot of space.
Weakness:
Very weak engine, especially merging onto the freeway. Also the many problems that I've had with this purchase. As time goes by I am becoming more and more unhappy with my purchase of my 2000 Honda Civic LX. The vehicle has been in to the dealer for the same reason several times. Actually it is getting dangerously close to qualifying for the "Lemon Law". The main problem I've been having is with the front suspension. It has been making a popping noise and has been in for repair 4 times. The 1st time they loosened the entire front end a re-torqued it and the problem went away for a few months. The 2nd time the did the same thing and also replace the steering gear box. The 3rd and 4th time they now claim that the popping noise is coming from the brakes and it is no big deal. I've also had to take it in to have the air bag "SRS" system checked out. It seems that as time goes by more and more problems come up with this car. I know that $18,000 is not that much to spend on a car in todays world, but I do expect some quality for the money that I spent. Similar Products Used: N/A |

the cupholders suck, and the sunroof makes a funny noise if i hold the button down too long, probably my own fault! so far i love my new, it's my first! it's great for a girl, like me! EX coupe
Strength:
I love the fact that I get really good gas mileage, 35 plus mileage.. It's great. It's a really good car for college students. Turning is great, especially in tight spots. It's easy to see out of, I can see all around me. I feel safe in my car. Handles well in turns going faster that the posted speed. It's cute, and I like the headlights, you can see well on the sides of the road.
Weakness:
Were to start? The cup holders actually aren't able to hold anything, water bottels fall out, go into the floor. I have hold anything when turning or it will fall out. The car makes noises in the doors like a clicking pieace of metal, usually when the wind blows. I have to turn the ac off when getting on the freeway, and it's slow. I have had a few close calls passing, kicks in finally around 55 MPH. Wind noise on freeway or just going 55 plus MPH. The ac isn't that cool. The inside lights suck, such as, the ac light, it's green and it's so dim you have to actually put your hand over it and look really close to see if the light is on. I REALLY needs more power. The way it's shifts is bumpy and sucks, especially when acceleration you can feel the car going through the gears. I test drove the manual Si and it was much smoother. Don't ask me why I got the auto, big mistake. OH can't forget the seats, ouch!!! I'm NEVER ever have been comfortable in that car, and I have to drive to school my back aches. The engine sounds like a macanical noise, not like a engine.. I hate that sound. The sheet metal is so thin it scratches easy and chips and dings easy. The sun visours(don't know how to spell that) don't actually really help keep the sun out of your eyes. There has to be more that I can pick out..... The carpeting is made cheeply and looks cheap to, as well as the door panels. I don't like the fact the buttons for the windows are backwards. The sun roof makes a slight creeking sound. I turn up the music and I can't hear it. The reception of the antenna sucks. When going at high speeds the car goes all over the road, well mostly when it's windy. I can feel the air go under the car and your going all over the road. I don't really like the brakes to well.. My civic is almost a year old, it has really low mileage. I love my car and baby it, it's the cleanest car around. Smells new and looks new. It is a practical car for me, but I hate some of the designes on the car. I'm planning on butting really nice seats into that car, because the factory ones feel so hard. My ass hurts and my back hurts sitting in that car. Everyone if your considering in a HOnda Civic or anything please please look at Nissan's. Nissan's are really great cars and they are so comfortable. I wish I could take back the Honda for a Nissan. Who knows maybe after I get the Honda payed off I will get myself a Nissan 300zx tt. Love those cars. Listen to all these people, Civic's arn't that great, and they cost to much for what they are. I was disapointed in what I got, I still love my car but it's disapointing. Similar Products Used: I can't compare anything, I had a junky old school 80's Grand Am and we all put $6,000 plus into that car, and it was free. So I my civic is the best car I've ever owned so far. |
