Strength:

High range RPM (8200 redline), bucket seats, B16A3 Motor, rear disc brakes, trunk space(for a sports car), targa top, aux (fog) lights, 14" alloy rims

Weakness:

Leaky top, the interior windows become fogs during rain, blind spot behind side windows, only up to 160mph

A fun car to drive daily or set aside as a project car to admire.

HONDA, enough said... Gas mileage, space, even with the roof in, the trunk has tons of space. I used and abused my Del Sol, and it still lasted to 165,000 miles.

Weakness:

The Si, 127hp engine is slow compared to some of the new stuff comeing out. But it is relatively inexpensive to modify.

When they first came out I was too young to drive, but as soon as I was able too, I purchased one. Best decision ever! Very fun car, get lots of looks, unique and cheap to maintain. Poor mans' sports car.

It's Honda, right? Gas mileage is great, love the parking. Love driving standard. The roof, plenty of space in the trunk. Rear window is awesome!

Weakness:

Car holders are completely unusable by the driver. Very minor leakage from the roof. Power locks have needed to be fixed FOUR times now. Roof removal can be awkward for someone 5'5" or shorter (small arm reach).

We bought the last new Del Sol in Canada, not the VTec. Five speed standard, and had power windows, locks, side mirrors, air conditioning, 6 disc CD Changer put in when purchased.

It's a Honda! 126,000 miles and still good. Love the rear window opens.

Weakness:

Roof has always leaked, even after tons of warranty repairs. Got used to it over a dozen years.

I bought my Samba Green 93 Del Sol new on 11/25/92 -that is almost 12 years that I've been driving it. Recently bought an '04 Mini Cooper S, but can't part with my Sol. Looks brand new. Last week replaced front brakes, radiator, starter. Am all ready for cruising topless this summer!

the targa top is nice on sunny days, it is a honda ,, enough said....big trunk, good leg room....head turner

Weakness:

kinda noisy, squeeky top, little hard to get out of...

The delsol is by far the most unique and fun car to ever come out of hondas long and reliable car line up.We bought this car as a comuter car for my husband because his job required him to comute 145 miles a day. At first we left it plain, but after a while we decided to make into a fast and furious tuner..we painted it bright orange and added a aftermarket spolier, and put custom graphics on it..we had people daily asking what kind of car it was and where can they find one...we recently sold it because we are finally moving closer to work and already have three other cars. It had 203,000 miles on it and was still going strong...It with out a doubt is one of the coolest autos ever made...I recomend it to anyone looking for a commuter car or awesome tuner.....

NONE!!!

By far the best car I've owned. SOHC v-tech is not fast, but quick enough for me. The targa top, gas mileage, leg room and low maintenance costs are some of the great things about this car. I am 6'5" and have plenty of room. The targa top comes off in seconds and stores nicely in the trunk...I can fit an amazing amount of stuff in there, even with the top locked into place. I was lucky enough to find one with 50,000 miles on it, and don't plan on ever selling. My targa top does not leak, although it does rattle slightly on bumpy roads. If you can find one, expecially a v-tech, buy it. You won't regret it.

the TARGA TOP! and also the vtec. its a real head turner! It's a fun, fast little car with great gas mileage.

Weakness:

with my '93 SI the targa top leaked, but not with my '94. the '94 burns a lot of oil, espicially when vtec kicks in

I've had an automatic '93 SI then ended up buying a 94 dohc vtec del sol which is the love of my life!!!! It's the best car i've ever had and would never consider getting something else.

Honda reliability Spring/Summer/Fall top-down driving Acceptable winter vehicle Servicability

Weakness:

Minor roof and trunk leakage Typical Honda Civic rust spots around rear wheels Repairs can get expensive

This has been a great little car going on 5 years now. It was purchased with 38,000 miles on the odometer back in 1999. The car has been reliable, with some minor mechanical repairs... replaced the fuel injector sending unit at 60,000 miles, replaced clutch hydraulic pump at 75,000 miles. For such a small car, the engine compartment is easy to work on for such a small car, typical Honda. It has been a trooper and has taken all the abuse I've thrown at it. My sol is a stock si model. Acceleration is not this car's strong suit, tho it is acceptable. The area where it really "shines" is roadhandling. It sits very low to the ground and has a good suspension system to hold onto curves that will send many faster/expensive cars careening off the road.

Weakness:

drivers side can leak on occasion. cup holders at a place you can't really reach while driving. squeeky roof. none of these thing however detour how FUN this car is to drive.

I LOVE my Del Sol Si!! i've had it for about 10 mnths NOT a single problem. just got oil changes on a regular basis. a great tuner car if your into that sort of thing, which I am. Mines an auto, even w/an auto it accels very nice and smooth. you can definetly corner w/it. Nothing can beat the targa top. turns heads every where I go. I have NO plans of ever giving it up. it currently has 81,000 miles and still runs great even after i've beat on it a few times. if you have a chance to get one...and i mean any model S, Si, or V-Tec....definetly pick one up, you won't regret it!

Strength:

Well, it's a Honda. It still has the Factory brakes! I average 34-36 mpg with this car, with the top off. My best has been 43 Mpg, top on. Of course, if the top's off you can expect a little bit less due to wind drag. Who Cares? My rule of thumb is, If it's above 45 degrees and not raining, I've got the top off. The car has a Killer heater for the cooler days. I don't have A/C, so it's a Must to have the top off in Hot weather. The rear electric window rolls down offering many options for air flow, (top on or off). It's a lot Wider that a Miata and I think, more fun to drive. If your into modifying your del Sol, There are many body kits and other mods available. Myself, I've only added a stock rear spoiler, front Civic lip spoiler and mudguards.

Weakness:

It is a comfortable car on short journeys but, I've drove it cross country a few times and driving starts to hurt after about 6 hours. I don't have cruise control. The only main problem that I've had with this car is, the Main Relay went out. In Hot weather, (above 95 degrees), it would not start for a while. I got it to the Honda dealer to have it fixed and was told, "This happens a lot". Although it's not considered to be a defect. My 93 S model, having the 1.5 liter, just can't get out of it's own way quickly unless you wind it up in the gears. The car does have some "roof rattle", like so many of them do, and is prone to leak in the drivers side window in rainy times. One way to eliminate some of the rattle is to care for the roof seals with silicone grease. It does help some but, not a full fix.

Overall you just can't beat the Honda del Sol. It's a Fun Little Car that does turn some heads. The one piece Targa top comes off in a few seconds and stores in the trunk, still leaving you plenty of room for whatever. It's a lot better Cold weather car than a ragtop. This car was given to me as a gift from my sister when she moved to England. She bought it new. I've been driving it as my main vehicle since Dec. 1997. It had 35,000 miles on the clock back then and I'm getting ready to roll over to 84,000. It's been cross country 3 times with not a problem. I wouldn't hesitate to jump in and head about anywhere with it. Mine is the typical base S model. It has the 1.5 liter motor with the 5 speed manual trans.
