Prelude VTEC
Strength:
Performance
Weakness:
Tight interior. The 1993 Prelude VTEC absolutely kicks ass. I really don't need to say anymore. Every time I pull up on the line I giggle. It's sort of a sleeper, most of the people in the more powerful American cars are shocked at what comes out of my little rice-burner. I continue to shock them with 190 horsepower of squealing tires. The 0-60 is a respectable 6.6 to 6.9 seconds depending on what you read. This car throws down!!! The best part is I've had mine for almost 6 years and it has 155,000 miles and it still rips, and gets good gas mileage at the same time. I don't know how the Japanese do it. Similar Products Used: I've driven quite a few sport compact cars, as well as some powerful German and American cars. This car definitely holds it's own for the price. |

Amazing cuves with an engine that can provide all the power you need. Gorgeous dash with an interior that makes you feel like your in a cock pit. The 7 speaker sound system includes tweeters and a sub woofer mounted between the two back seats. Turns heads like a topless hooker!
Weakness:
The sun roof motor sounds like its on it;s way out and I usually had to give it a push. The glove box is tight, but it holds speeding tickets nicely. The back seat is a little tight for the ladies. But classy guys can always aford a hotel. The car is (was) amazing! I would recommend this beauty to anyone under 6 foot and 200 lbs. It's tight, fast, and safe. Not many cars could roll three times and let the driver walk away. Similar Products Used: Will only drive a Lude |

Weakness:
low torque hight weight I am very satisfied with my honda prelude but there is not enought torque at low rpm and the vtec comes in at a too much high rpm.I think that a 6 speed manuel transmission will be a good alternative. The quality of the interior is very good but not much original if i compare it with my old probe..In conclusion don't buy a black car its scatches very easilly. This vehicle has great accelleration due to v-tech technology. I owened a 95 prelude si that had far less power. Great handling comes from the duel wishbone susp. I also love the body style and headlights.
Weakness:
No back seats.

*Handling/Quick acceleration/Gas mileage
Weakness:
*Expensive Driving impression - Although not fast, the car is quick. But you have to get the rpm's up in order to get the best acceleration. Braking has a solid feel to it. Great handling with no body roll at all, very forgiving with just the slightest ammount of understeer at the limit. Even the most extreme curves are no match for the prelude. The shifting has a crisp feel to it with a nice firm clutch (the way I like it). Im averaging 28-30 MPG. Similar Products Used: None |

Prelude VTEC
Strength:
Speed, handling, finish (both inside and out), styling, dependability. Great gas mileage considering I drive quite fast. (30 mpg) Love feeling that VTEC kick in!
Weakness:
Cramped back seating except for little kids. No glove box to speak of. Hard to clean the bottom of the inside rear window due to the huge speakers there. Rear pillars created a large blind spot. This model is certainly deserving of it's "10 best" awards. I've put 160,000 miles on this one and it is just as tight as the day I bought it. I've only had one new set of tires, a tribute to the suspension. It has had new brakes and just replaced the battery. In San Jose's stop and go HIGHWAY traffic, the original clutch is still fine. This is an EXCELLENT car. It is not for "hefty" or people over 6'. You need to be in good shape to swing youself in out of the car. I'm getting a new car, I'm not selling my Prelude. My husband is inheriting it so he can have some driving fun. (He used to drive a minivan). I still need the thrill of a sports car, even though I'm now getting a four door sedan. My choice? Suprisingly, after test driving the V6 sedans, I didn't choose the Accord.(It is such a shame to have the VTEC engine saddled with a sluggish automatic transmission.) I chose instead the Nissan Maxima SE, fully loaded, with the 5 spd., of course. So, if anyone from Honda is reading this review, offer a manual tranny on your V6 Accord and you'll sell a lot more of them to us boomers! Great value for a used car. Nothing else packs 200hp while keeping cornering and comfort in mind. Looks great, red looks really sharp, try to keep an eye out for cops. SH rims look awesome
Weakness:
Paint chips, quite expensive to maintain, premium gas is expensive, so are tires. Car still a bit heavy, could have more torque, but that's what you get for stock hondas, shock knock Basically you get a great looking car which rides well at a good price. I rate this car very high, and if you can get a good deal on a used one, it'll save you alot of money. Similar Products Used: Celica - Preludes are much faster, prelude also much larger car |

Strength:
great engine, especially if you want to build a powerhouse (no open deck design like other honda's, so the bottom end is very strong). Great stock 6-speaker CD system. One of the most unique dashboards ever made. Comfortable and supportive seats that will keep you in place around high speed turns. Bombproof transmisson (alot of drag cars use Prelude tranny's because they are known to be so strong). Body shape is amazing, everyone always tells me that it doesn't look like a 92 car. The ABS works really good and has saved me a couple of times. Overall the best car I have ever driven.
Weakness:
The back seat can only fit a midget or a child. You dont buy a sports car for the seating capacity in the first place people. At least it can fit an extra person in case more that one person needs a ride. I love this car. Before this car I was going to buy a 1995 Civic EX coupe for $13500 from a local Honda dealer. I saw the Prelude advertised in the paper and went to check it out. I bought the car on the day of my testdrive for $6500. What a great car at a great deal. I recommend to everyone to buy these cars. Similar Products Used: I went on a couple of test drives over last summer (2000). I test drove an Acura Integra GSR, and a Civic Si. I have to say that my 1992 Prelude Si totaly preforms better than both of those cars. Also, The cars I test drove cost $21,000 and $18,000 respectively. So save alot of money and get a Prelude. |

Strength:
Handling. Solid body feel. Honda reliability. VTEC engine is smooth. VTEC crossover is addictive.
Weakness:
Could be faster. Doesn't feel like 200 horsepower driving around town. No side guards to protect against dings. 3 people car max. If you're over 6 feet, you may bump your head. Great car if you get it under $22k (before tax & license). Haven't had any problems with it. Just regular maintenance. You already know about the handling. This car feels solid. A lot of people will drive aggressive around you. VTEC engine is addictive & smooth, but sucks driving around town. No back seat, but you don't buy this car for the back seat. Mine is black - every scratch and ding shows up. Get the silver with lower body panel kit. Exterior was questionable at first, but now they're so common in California that the appearance has grown on me. When driven to work and back, gas mileage is 25mpg. Similar Products Used: None |

A great vehicle. VTEC rocks. Handles unbelieveably (Better than my bros vette IMO). Ok on gas. Awsome breaking. Stereo is great (2 front tweeters, 2 front door mids, 2 rear mids, and a rear sub). Looks awsome. Spoiler, Nice Rims, Clear Corner Lenses, Sunroof, Leather, Power Everything, Dash and gauges have to be seen to be appreciated (truly awsome), sport seats all stock. (the canadian version also has daytime running lights, heated seats, and various other goodies)
Weakness:
My front window must have been set by the last owner because the seal is coming out so I am replacing it. My driver seat ripped in two places! Ouch! $3000 to fix (replace)! Ouch! Those though are both my problems so they will not go against the review. Back is for storage no one can really sit back there. Isnt the fanciest interior but its alrght. Difficult to see out back window sometimes since the rear of the 4th Gen ludes sit up a bit. NOTE: this is not an american hotrod it is not all ballzed out if you are use to rods and ballzy cars dont get a lude because you wont like it. I personally love this car. It is IMO one of the best cars I have seen for the price (I got it for). Love it, love it, love it. Check out http://www.hondaprelude.com for a large lude focused site. The Honda Prelude was on car and drivers 10 best list for numorus years for the 4th generation. I suggest going to the car and driver site and reading some of its reviews.
