I''m an owner of a 1998 kia sephia and I am a very unsatisfied customer. To this date I have paid more for repairs and rentals than I paid for the car. The car has spent more time in repair shops than on the road. Both the dealership and Kia Motors could care less about helping out a customer. I have replaced my engine, the electrical system is completely screwed up due to poor manufacturing, the tires it comes with are no good, The brakes are cheap, and have been replaced about 5 times. Every month I have to do complete tuneups, including oil changes, spark plugs, etc. I hear people have the same problems as I do and it seems that no one is getting any better results in the end I took my case to the "LEMON LAW ATTORNEYS" and explained my case. Kia only gave me $2000, with the agreement that I wouldn''t EVER further my case. Buying this car is the biggest mistake I have ever made. Because of my experience NEVER buy a Kia car.Aside from all of the above it is not a safe car to drive, it is a danger to you and others on the road. IT is NOT worth the stress, loss of money, and constantly dealing with incompetent people. If I had known how much money I was going to spend I would have bought a Bentley!!!

Strength:

Looks Nice

Weakness:

Poor Brakes, Lousy Transmissions, Horrible electrically The 1 ratings I gave it don''t even do it justice. Zeros would be better

I''ve owned this car for two and a half years now. Avoid these cars at all costs. I am an extremely unhappy customer. The total repairs up to date have now surpassed the original price of the car. The transmission was replaced after a year and is slipping again now. The front brakes have been replaced 7 times the tires the car came with from the dealership only lasted 15,000 miles the fuse relay center in the engine melted It has a myriad of electrical problems Part of the rear suspension broke and the drivers side rear tire fell off of the car after only 5,000 miles. The horn has been fixed three times and the list goes on. Currently it sits in the driveway. I can no longer afford to repair it. I can''t even get rid of it, The resale value of the car is so low that I would take a huge loss. If your looking for a car that will leave you stranded and a company that won''t even give you a loaner for a warantee repair Kia is it.

Strength:

Cheap.

Weakness:

Poor paint. Lots of problems.

The car would stall within 2 months of owning it. It''d start up fine but whenever I would slow down for turns ... off it went. The paint on the side molding faded within the year to this disgusting yellow underneath. The car easily scratched. The stalling? Fixed. Started up again after 2 years. No one could figure out why. I was told when I tried to trade it in that the 1997 Kia Sephia had transmission problems.

Strength:

Comfort, cute, economical

Weakness:

Low trade in, seems like it''s using all it''s power just to move around and manuver

I love my car. It is comfortable to drive and to ride in. It was cheap and gets good milage. Mine has all the options and is very comfortable for me. I have had few problems with it. It ran a little shotty but I got it tuned up and it''s back going strong. I need a new starter, but that sometimes happens when a car as 40k miles plus.

Strength:

Powerfull engine. Great handling. Fun to drive.

Weakness:

A lot of wind noise when driving. Low trade in value.

These are the best cars to own. Currently my familly owns three Kia Sephia''s and find they are the best cars on the market. Two are 1997 and one is a 2000. My car is a 5 speed and the rest are automatics. I find that they are very roomy and fun to drive. The cars are very powerfull and can beat any small car in its class in a race. The car handles really good without a lot of body lean. Also I live in an area where we get a lot of snow. The car does really well as long as you have good tires. The only thing that I find goes a lot is the exhaust and starter. I have replaced both twice. I feel these are great cars to own and drive everyday. I have found that everyone that has ever said anything bad about the cars didn''t even know where the engine was located.

Great car for the price!!!

Weakness:

Low trade-in

I read so many bad things about this car, and don''t know why. Yes it had a couple of recalls, but it was free to fix. Zippy little engine, and lots of room in the car. Had to put a tap light in the trunk but no big deal!!! It''s not a BMW, but you didn''t pay the price for one either!!!

Strength:

Good on gas. Good price. Easy to drive. Visibility great. Air conditioner and heater kicks in pretty fast.

Weakness:

Slow acceleration on automatics. Don''t know about the standards. Kind of loud inside car when driving (not pertaining to engine) outside noises especially when driving on freeway or busy streets.

I''ve had my Kia Sephia for a year and a half now. It has 31,000 miles on it. I haven''t had any problems with it so far. It was not the car i wanted but it was all i could afford. I wasn''t too happy when i test drove it because of the slow acceleration. I was used to the take off power of my 85 Chevy Caprice. It seems like it takes forever to pick up speed and its not like you can floor it when you need to merge onto the busy freeway. The first week i got it i tinted the windows, put in a brand new stereo system and eventually purchased seat covers for it. I''ve learn to like my little Kia. I think its cute and someone sporty looking. It gets me where i need to go with no problems. The air conditioner and heater work great. Its easy to drive. I didn''t get power windows or locks or fancy cruise control. I''ve had problems with those going out on other cars so i figured it was safe to go with the old fashion roll down window and standard locks. I do my regular 3000 mile oil change. I also drive carefully (not like an old person) but i take care of my car. So far its been good to me and hopefully it''ll keep on being good to me. The people at the dealership are great!!!

Strength:

It has a good amount of room in the interior. It has an engine with a decent amount of power. Great on gas. I went to and fro Dayton,OH/Chicago,ILL on 2 tanks. Nice sound system.

Weakness:

A little slow on acceleration. Car cuts off at sudden stop and go points (I think this happens more with a stick shift which I have)

My kia has served me well so far. It is roomy and has nice looking rear headlights. I like the color(black) as small as it is, it offers me room to transport big baggage if I need to. It took a while for the engine to break in, but it has now being broken in and it runs GREAT!!. I think I will stick with Kia for my next vehicle. I am planning on upgrading to the Sportage. I recommend the Kia to anyone who is looking for an economical and half way stylish Sedan. I would like it if Kia comes out with a sports edition of the Kia (having some sports car features).

Model Reviewed: KIA Sephia

Strength:

none, mine really isn''t even economical with the amount of oil it consumes... although it has plenty of leg room for a compact car.

Weakness:

All of it''s mechanical parts! Nothing works right, it has been an embarrassment. I could go on and on about the problems I have had, but there isn''t enough room to go on and on.

I have had my 1998 Kia Sephia for over three years, and I am a very UNSATISFIED customer! The first month I drove it, it was in the shop three times before I made a payment. About a year and a half ago, I financed a new Dodge truck because my Kia was so unreliable. I carried both payments, in hopes that I could someday get rid of the Sephia. I have still had no luck, as no dealer will take it as a trade in. It is worth nothing! I had to eliminate one payment, and it was the truck due to the fact that I ABSOLUTLEY cannot get rid of the Kia. I have been the laughing stock of every dealer I have tried to trade it into. One time, during a test drive while I was trying to sell the car, the engine light came on and it sprung it''s 3rd oil leak. I was humiliated and the salesman said that it would need a lot of work before he could take it in. It was only a year old. I have gone around and around with my Kia dealer, and sofar have gotten nowhere. It has now been in the shop a total of 11 times into it''s 4th year, and has been parked for the last year. I just recently began driving it again after selling my truck (which I loved) and it is in the shop today. I have put 9 quarts of oil in it in two days, it really defeats the purpose of great gas mileage. It has had two recalls, breaks at just 4,000 miles, the exhaust has been repaired 3 times (including front to back), numerous oil leaks, a new alternator, battery, starter, wiper motor, heater, electrical problem which makes the interior light turn on constantly while I drive down the road... the list goes on. It is a GENUINE LEMON!!! At first, I thought that I had a lemon because I purchased a new car, before the Sephia had a track record. I waited for the "kinks" to work themselves out. It is 2002 and they still haven''t made a decent running Sephia. I am so disappointed and would give anything to get out of this money pit. As far as the warranty goes, I am not yet 25 and do not have the option of a rental because of my age. Kia has had my car in the shop for as long as two weeks at a time... during which I am without wheels. The dealership has been very inconsiderate, leaving me to feel like an ignorant little girl for buying thier product. HELP SOMEONE! I am at my witt''s end here. I tried to consult with Kia''s consumer line to help me deal with this problem, however, was treated worst than by the dealership.

Finding dress up parts and mine has got a window that has to be taken back to get fixed.

So for I love my little car. It''s got enough room for my growing family, but doesn''t make me feel like a grandma. I''ve only had it for a couple of months, but it''s seems to be one of the best cars that I''ve ever drove. It''s got great take off and just all around fun to drive.
