Acceleration, mileage, and price.
Weakness:
Cabin noise but with 2 800 watt amps running 8 spkrs including 2 10inch subwoofers you barely notice. I don''t know why everyone leaving reviews is bashing this car. It''s a nice little ride. It handles well and gets good mileage. My sephia is pushing 50,000 miles and there are no signs of problems. I''ve taken this thing from coast to coast 2times over and it drives great. It gets good pick up with manual and is fun to drive. Of course maybe one of the reasons why this car hasn''t given me any problems is because i TAKE CARE OF IT. HELLO all of you out there, you know you have to change the oil every 3,000, check all the fluids, check the belts, give it a good washing and waxing once in a while so your paint doesn''t go bad and spray some armarol on the dash so you don''t get any cracks. Give these cars alittle TLC and they''ll treat you right. Another thing is that some of these people bought these cars with power everything including auto tranny. The auto trannies on this car suck. If you buy these cars stripped with NOTHING they''ll run well. Also theres nothing wrong with the brakes on this car, 47,000 miles later and i still have the factory pads on and it stops on a dime. Stop complaining people. Every car company produces lemons. Look at the ford focus. And just to note, my brothers brand new civic had to go back to the shop the same day it was bought so don''t bash the kia''s just because they don''t have the stable name that hondas and toyotas have. Weakness:
cabin noise is alittle loud, but then again with 2 1,000 watt amps driving 8 speakers including 2 10inch subwoofers you''ll barely notice. Overall this is a nice little car. I have now had it for a year and a half and 45,000 miles later no problems. I have taken this car from coast to coast and it rides nice, and gets good mileage. I don''t know what these other people are talking about. All these people seem to be having problems with their kias. Probably because they bought power everything including auto tranny which sucks from what i hear. This car in manual is a good little car. Pick up is good in manual and so is mileage. 45,000 miles later and the brake pads are only half worn. So i don''t know what these people are talking about with the "bad brakes" stories. Overall the sephia is a nice little car and if you take care of it, that means give it a good oil change, change the fluids, and wax the car once in a while it will treat you right. Maybe thats why you people have these problems, you don''t take care of your stuff. Similar Products Used: Honda accord (great car) ford escort (piece of crap) |

Strength:
Looks Okay. Split rear-seat useful. Other also features like rear-defrost and trunk level Ok.
Weakness:
Mechanically weak. Also, I have no local dealer in 75 miles so Warranty Service is going to be a pain. This Kia is certified garbage. From the factory, this thing wanders all over the road. The vents weren''t properly installed. It ain''t going to Alaska because I would FREEZE to death, the vents were installed that bad. When it rains, the hood steams up. It looks like the radiator is going. On top of that the front brakes fell through the calipers through the pads in a day in a half. No car should make it to the American market. Adding insult to injury, the mirrors were installed or designed wrong. Try driving this thing with 30% blockage. This one has got to be a lemon. Similar Products Used: Ford Escort, Saturn. |

Acceleration, price, and looks once you pretty it up!
Weakness:
Cabin noise and alittle steering wheel viabration starting at 80mph but after some time on the highway it begins to ride very smooth. I have had my kia sephia for over a year now and i must say that this car is a nice ride for the overall price. It comes with more horsepower than the civic and handles well. I now have 45,000 miles on it and i have had no problems. I''ve driven it from miami to rhode island and back and it was great on gas and dependability. One disadvantage to kia products are performance parts. I cannot find more than an exhaust system to enhance the horsepower. Since i''ve had the car i''ve only made it look like a race car. I''ve added a Nice high spoiler, 16 inch rims, fog lights, front mask, racing pin stripes, dark fog tint, winshield washer lights and an exhaust muffler system, which added 5 extra hp topping it off at 130 hp. I have topped this car off at 127 miles per hour (though it took forever after 100 mph to reach it). Stock this is a pretty fast car, but i wish they had all the parts they offer for hondas so i can turn it into a real racing machine!! Gas Mileage! Acceleration (5-speed)! (Knocks you back in your seat), LS Power Package, Stereo system, and oh, did I mention Acceleration!
Weakness:
NO PERFORMANCE PARTS! Dents easy (dont lean on this one!) The 5-speed version kicks ass. Spanked all 1990''s V6 Mustangs, V6 Camaros, Honda Civics, Preludes, and various other cars that cost twice as much! No problems what so ever...the greatest gas mileage. Had no problems with the brakes...the warranty and road side assistance has been great (ran out of gas twice and they came..no problem..NO COST!) If you buy the base model or the automatic...you will not be happy...get the LS 5-Speed..it will blow you away! Driven this car from Fla, to NM, and back to SC...with not ONE problem! The stereo system with cd is awesome. I am 6''7", and I FIT in this car comfortably! Other than my girlfriend burning cigarette holes in the seat, the inside is still in great condition...no problem with the dashboard...keep it covered! Trunk space is great...especially with the split/fold down seats. The paint on the side mirrors are fading a little, but the paint job is AWESOME! For the value, this thing is a rocket! Strength:
125-hp and handles quite well and is light. It only weight 2,600 lbs and looks good. Very powerful car. Great warrenty though you will use it alot.
Weakness:
Breaks, rotors, door lining, windsheild wipers, transmission, abs, fuel lines. Shall I go on? I bought this car brand new in 1999. I think it''s a sharp looking car and with a few things you could ad such as tinted windows or a spoiler, the Sephia makes for a slick automobile considering it''s a low end car. Though I have gone through alot of maintenance troubles.I saved money because I did the repairs myself.I think the compnay should do more to improve their vehicles to be safer and more reliable. they have been in buisness since the 40''s in Korea but in 1993 they moved to the USA. Since then they have had several recalls on their cars. As a Kia owner and I think I can speak for all Kia owners when I say "Kia is a nice looking cheap car, but overall is a lemon" Sure there are a few that had never had problems before but the bad outweight the good. So, heres my advice. If your looking to buy a rathercheap car and one that is reliable go with a Handi. Similar Products Used: None |

Kia Sephia
Strength:
Great on gas, Strong AC when it isnt squealing. Great trunk is very spacious for a smaller car,
Weakness:
Breaks, trade in value, numerous recalls, no trunk light. The day I bought my 1st Kia Sephia the transmission went. I brought the car back and got another Sephia. I should have known right then and there that this was omen telling me to NOT to buy the car. The breaks and rotors were replaced appx 10x in 3 yrs. The flywheel was replaced at 25,000 miles. The gas gauge never registered full, it turned out to be a recall. The starter had to be replaced, the water pump, CV Joints, dash board sort of melted or looked burnt and the foam underneath the dash started to show. I had the dash replaced. A latch on the trunk broke, the master cylinder was replaced 2x in 6 months. The paint on the side view mirrors wore away, as did the 2 rear windows. The breaks continue to squeak, the car shakes on the highway, the CD player and radio only work when they feel like it, the latch on the glove box broke and I was unable to open the glove box, the battery and tires had to be replaced under 15,000 miles, the windshield wipers have been recalled, the weather stripping on the windows falls off alot, the seats are definitely not made for long rides, they are stiff and very uncomfortable. The check engine and the air bag lights come on for no apparent reason. I have taken this ar to New England in the winter and let me tell you rides even worse in the cold weather. It takes about 10 minutes to warm it up or you will continuously stall out. I have taken excellent care of this car. All routine maintenance, including oil changes have been done precisely as recommended. In October of 2001 I had a car accident, I was only going 30 mph when I got cut off and collided with the vehicle. Of course the breaks decided not to work properly AGAIN. The air bags did not deploy right away causing serious chest injuries, which resulted in blood clots in both my lungs and I had to be on a respirator for 5 days. I also broke both the bones in my right leg. Im also told that the chemicals from the air bags could have contributed to the lung problems since I also developed pneumonia. This car is seriously a death trap. I am lucky to be a live today. I would NOT recommend this car to anyone. Similar Products Used: None |

brakes, and stability. Iv''e had my kia for about a year now and i believe it to be a resinable car. For the price i paid and for it being a used vehicle that already had 107,000 miles on it the brakes were good the entirer was like new and only for the small amount of 3,500. Since iv''e had it there is know 118,000 miles on it i put one coumplete oil change on it and a little oil here and there the brakes do need changed but are still working good it''s comfortable to drive and gets wonderfull gas mileage. The only thing that i think i would change is the fact that you can feel every little bump in the road. For being such an older make i cant believe that people are having such horrible problems with newer models. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
They are economical, that is if you don''t spend the gas money on repairs to defects.
Weakness:
They are not engineered nor manufactured as well as their competition, despite what Kia may say, and they have virtually no value after the first year of ownership. Terrible execution of their supposed "best warranty in the industry". Deceptive advertising of their "best warranty in the industry". The customer and dealer services can be as bad as the car, if not worse. And to the hot-rodders of these things: USE THE MODDING MONEY AND YOUR KIA TO GET A REAL SPORTS CAR. This is simply not a good car. How they can even try to compare it to a Toyota Corolla or a Honda Civic is beyond me. It''s reliability is worse overall. And, the icing on the cake, The Kias are among the worse performers in crashworthiness tests conducted by the IIHS. Oh, and the so-called "most comprehensive warranty in the industry" is a joke. The 10 year/100,000 mile warranty only covers the drivetrain (engine/transmission), which is like the most durable part in the car. Everything else is 5 years/60,000 miles. And that doesn''t stop there. There have been a plethora of reports indicating very poor warranty responses from Kia. Personally, I''d rather spend the extra thousand or so to get a car that is proven safe and reliable. If you have actually had a good experience with this car, then you are lucky. These things usually fail prematurely, even with a good preventative maintenence scehdule applied to it. Most experienced mechanics have claimed that these suckers generally have a lifespan of about two years, which is why I only mostly see newer Kias on the road. It''s strange. I''ve seen a lot of the Kias driving around in the city where I live in when they first came out here in 1997, but those same Kias weren''t there anymore after only approximately one year. My retired 1989 Crown Victoria police interceptor is more reliable than these cracker boxes, and a hell of a lot more rugged to boot. As for resale value, the value of Kia vehicles will drop like boat anchors in a river. That''s the other thing about buying a Honda, at least they will maintain their resale value very well, as well as outshining Kia in the quality department. - Reinhart Similar Products Used: None |
