Strength:
None that I can think of right now. I am just too mad.
Weakness:
Transmission Electronics Transmission and the Transmission Bought the car brand new. Was a good deal...until today. The transmission is gone. It has 175,000 km. So far I put in over $7,000.00 in repairs and maintenance. I keep telling myself that it is cheaper than buying a new car. Not anymore. After reading all these reviews I know I am heading for a pile of trouble now that the tranny is gone. Similar Products Used: Nil |

Strength:
styling, fans that oscillate, roomy
Weakness:
My 2.0 was underpowered. Once on the highway she was great but when I was trying to merge with a lot of traffic it was very difficult. All I can say is its a great car for the price. The Mazda 626 LX 2.0 was very good to me. I bought it new and I had it for 5 years with 100K miles and it never broke down. Recently I purchased a new vehicle but I couldn''t see my Mazda go due to the strong bond I had with it (so I gave it to my family). I know the Mazda has a lot of life left in her and it won''t let my family down. I had to do regular routine maintenance but all in all great car. Strength:
Peppy but not fast, room for 5, good handling, reliable, priced less than Accords or Camrys.
Weakness:
The only real problem with the car has been the exhaust system over the years, have had to replace the muffler a couple of times. The engine is not as polished or as powerful as competing sedans. This review is of my girlfriend''s ''88 626. I have driven it many times and the one thing I would have to say is that it is incredibly reliable. It currently has 170,000 miles and is still going strong. I can''t say much about the newer ones since I have not driven one, but if they are anything close to this one then they are an incredible value. Similar Products Used: Honda Accord, Civic |

Mazda 626 LX
Strength:
Power, looks, and backseat room!
Weakness:
Door handles break very easy. Window motors seem to tare up also. Some people would call the 626 a souped up go cart. Personaly i love my car. I have had my licence for about two years it isnt exactly a guys car but the sun roof gives it a sporty look. This car has been through 14 accidents and with a few scratchs its rubbing strong. When purchased the car had 154000 miles on it now its pushing 190000. After a new transmission its ran like a dream! Similar Products Used: none |

Mazda 626 LX
Strength:
-Beautiful Styling! -LX model comes with lovely stuff (CD player, power everything.) -Interior is roomy (car has been on many a road trip, and with 4 people in the car, and all of our luggage in the trunk, I have had no complaints.) -Feels like a luxury car (all of my friends think it''s a luxury car) -Great gas mileage on the highway -Factory stereo is REALLY nice (I love a lot of balanced bass, and this system really delivers!) -All of the controls and other conveniences are easy to reach (I''m short, so I don''t really have to bend that far to reach the radio, cup holders, etc...) -Engine is quiet -Interior room is good -Good handling in bad weather
Weakness:
-Cheap plastic appointments in the car -Car "jumps" slightly when going from 0-15 mph. -Car hestitates a little bit when pushing down on the gas pedal (ex. to get onto the highway). I would assume the V6 would do better in this area, but I have a V4, so I gotta deal with what I have. -Bad mileage on everyday driving (I put about 200-250 miles per week on my car going from work to school to church and singing engagements, so I''m spending a lot on gas unless I''m on the highway a lot.) -Not enough Mazda dealers in my area. Don Rosen Mazda used to be only 10 minutes from my house, but now they are selling some new European car, so they no longer sell or service Mazda. Now I have to take it all the way to Pacifico Mazda near the Philadelphia Airport. That''s about a 1/2 hour away TOTALLY OUT OF THE WAY. Their service department is nice, open on Saturdays and they offer loaner cars, so that takes the sting out of driving so far to get the car serviced. -Kind of expensive to maintain. When I bought the car, I just needed a car-period. I didn''t really have a chance to do my research on what I should buy. I just ended up with whatever I got a good deal on and what the bank would fin Well, it''s been a year since I bought my car (used at 30,000 miles), so I figured now would be a good time to review it. Overall, it''s a pretty good car. I feel like I got a good price for the car, but my payments aren''t that great (chalk that up to a high interest rate due to somewhat troubled credit at the time of purchase). This is the 1st car that I have financed. It hasn''t given me too much trouble. It did break down on me once, and that was because the battery went haywire. Thankfully it was in a parking lot up the street from my house, and the service shop (at Don Rosen Mazda) fixed it promptly. I have only had to do basic maintenance on the car (oil changes, brakes, tires). No major repairs have had to be done yet. But then again, it''s in the shop now for it''s yearly inspection, so I''ll find out the verdict on that today! (4/29/02) Who should buy this car? Hmmm...it''s a pretty good car for everyone. Especially for someone who wants a luxurious car for a non-luxury price tag. I would recommend that you buy the car used though. The brand-new price tag isn''t worth it. I bought mine right off of a 3-year lease, so it still looked brand new and performed like it was it''s first day off the lot. I am a single female who works full-time in the day and goes to school full-time at night, and travels frequently to singing engagements, so overall, it''s been really depndable. Strength:
Nice engine, very peppy for a 4 cylinder. Big trunk can fit lots of stuff. Loaded with options (LX model). Good looking car, very very dependable.
Weakness:
Has automatic seatbelts which are a pain, the alloy wheels are impossible to keep clean, and there are no cup holders! I pruchased this 1989 626 almost 6 years ago with 100K miles for $5000. It now has 170K miles and has been the best used car I have ever owned (this is number 7). It has given me minimal problems, never broken down on me, and is a fun car to drive. Weakness:
as stated above This car has been nothing but a nightmare. When I first purchased this car, a couple weeks later my "check engine" light came on. I took it back to the dealer and they "supposedly" fixed the problem. In addition, I complained of a jerk when switching gears but it was told to me that there was nothing wrong with my transmission. Long and behold, my "check enging" light came on again and aain it was fixed. I drove the car around for a couple months and the jerk of the car got worst.I took it to a reputable Mazda dealer and they said that it was the transmission and they rebuilt the transmission. Again the problem never disappeared and I brought it back a couple of weeks later and Mazda replaced the transmission again and it still has the same problem. They now have my car going on two weeks. I will never purchase a MAZDA car again from BARON AUTO MALL in Medford. So please stay away because they sold me a lemon and I bought another car there at the time of my purchase of the Mazda. I am currently looking into the lemon law and suing Baron. They are a bunch of rip offs. Similar Products Used: MAZDA 1996 626 - had no problems |

Bought a Tribute from Anaheim Mazda and I got ripped off. They included a bunch of hidden charges on my contract and when I complained to them they said ''tough luck !!''. I then complained to Mazda and they said they could not do anything about it. I should have bought the Ford Escape. I will never bought another car from Mazda and specially Anaheim Mazda & Hundai |
