EVERYTHING ABOUT IT

The car on this review is a slow yet styless piece of CRAP. My mountain bike has better acceleration then the eclipse. At least you can say it was a 20,000 dollar piece of JUNK!!

Strength:

Nice Looking Car. Easy to put aftermarket parts on. Very easy to work on, add too.

Weakness:

I should have gotten a turbo! My Bad. Rattles alot all over interior. And Duh, you dumb people, of course the back seat is small, it''s a sports car.

I have had this car for about three weeks and I love it. I have read all of the reviews and heard nothing but complaints and negative reviews. I guess they should have taken better care of it! I love this car, it is the best car I have ever had. I would recommend it to people to buy. Dont listen to all these people who tell you not to buy one. These things are like Toyota''s, they run FOREVER. P.S. These people bought them USED! What do you expect. You should have looked at it before you bought it you moron! God knows what the person before you did to that poor car. My advice, simply check it out before you buy it. What I did was actually look at where the car had been parked to see if there was any oil, or fluids on the ground. And test drove hard, at speeds of 80mph. The dealer was a cool guy. Find the right dealer. Pamona Mitsubishi will hook you up.

Strength:

220 HP with potential for much more via aftermarket performance upgrades. Good handling. Nice styling.

Weakness:

Paint has chipped in a couple places. A few squeaks/rattles here and there at times.

I have had my Eclipse GS-T for about 2 months now-- I got it used (obviously) with about 51,000 miles on it. So far, it has been an absolute blast!! I had to take it in to have the lower control arms replaced (under warranty/recall), but nothing else has gone wrong. It''s a really fun car to drive, and even more fun to drive fast. It handles well, and even the smallish factory turbo gives it quite a kick in the fanny compared to the non-turbo Eclipses. And it is very easy to add aftermarket components to boost performance levels even further. I highly recommend this car!

Strength:

V-6 has very good power and a wonderful growling sound. Good acceleration, lots of torgue. Super smooth automatic transmission. Handling is very good. No noticeable torgue steer. Great stereo, really like the stereo pod/clock being at eye level. Nice dash layout.

Weakness:

To much hard plastic parts used on dash. Has a rattle in the glove box(there is a recall on this problem just never took it to dealer), rear vision is poor. Seating is VERY low.

Very fun car. I use this car for work, I wanted something that was fun to drive but still somewhat pratical. I got the GT. This car fits the bill. It has plenty of storage area(hatchback), very comfortable and well appointed. I also got it with a sportronic since I do alot of city driving which can be annoying to shift all the time, yet if I hit a country road I just pop over the shifter and manually shift the gears. It actually works very good. Still isn''t as good as a pure manual though.

Strength:

-good looking car -eye catcher(get alot of complements) -good gas mileage -nice Stereo/Cd system -Comfortable seats(back isnt as small as you think when it comes to having girls back there with me) =) -its been reliable to me, its only been in the shop once and i have it 4 months now, to the day

Weakness:

-Automatic(my preference is Standard) -in the morning, sometimes makes a little squeeky noise(only when cold though) -Since the car is pretty low to the ground, you have to watch when you approach a curb becuz it will scrape the bottom of the car.

Ive actually been really impressed with this car for an automatic. I wanted a Standard really bad before i got the car back in September 2001, and i still kinda do. Although , i really like this car alot, there isnt too many flaws about it.but, It is a real eye catcher, especially to girls. As much as i have been a "Ladies man", as some girls call me, before i got this car, well its increased for sure since i got this Eclipse. Not to mention, the last 2nd generation year(1999), of this particular model. The new millinium Millinium Eclipses(2000,01,02) look completly different from the 96 thru 99 models (2nd generation), which i dont like the look on the new generation models

Weakness:

none that I can see so far

After many years of driving cars I did not want, I finally got one I did. I have never been happier, this car is an absolute rocket! Definately not for a family with children, or for totin'' the in-laws. Very impressed with the workmanship, and the overall setup of all the controls. Handles like its on rails, and if you are debating between convertible top or hardtop, go convertible. I was not gonna go that way but there is nothing like the joy of dropping the top. I went with the sportronic tranny (Im lazy) I love it! One last suggestion if you are thinkin'' between the 4 or 6 cylinder go 6, I have the 4 and I am definately tradin'' up.

Strength:

Beautiful car, decent 2.0 liter engine, Best $8500 i ever spent, excellent handling, can fit just about anywhere, good excelleration in 2-3 gears

Weakness:

Ride noise and feel, stock tires suck, car vibrates when braking from high sppeds (65+)

Not a bad car, it has its downfalls, however it does has it upsides as well, just as any car does. Ride isn''t the best, but thats the price you must pay for this sleek looking car. Mine is only the Rs model, with power nothing and the 2.0 liter 4 cylinder, i do however like it. I get amazing gas milage, 25-30 in the city and i have even gotten as high as 50 miles to the gallon on the highway, and i have added some minor parts, new intakes, new tires/rims, etc. So far it has been good, you feel every bump in the road, however. The fuel pump went at 50,000 miles, just 2 weeks after i bought it. I have read about other horror stories, but thankfully i can''t share those views. Local mitsubishi dealer was helpful, fixed the fuel pump and informed me of my bad spark plugs, and a faulty wire, so i wouldnt need to return.

TURBO,TURBO, TURBO, STEREO, SEATS, A BABY CAR SEAT EVEN FITS COMFORTABLY(WOW, NO WAY)..IF THERE IS SOMETHING YOU DON''T LIKE, WELL THIS CAR HAS THE LARGEST AFTER MARKET SUPPORT!!!!

Weakness:

I had to buy 130 mph rated tires for the front cause the turbo would eat em up. It should of came with an adjustable blowoff valve. I wish I had a 97 or higher front end.

I got really lucky because the previous owner was a highway protrolman. This car has had alot of attitude from day one. I didn''t drive anymore than a tenth of a mile and another Eclipse wanted to race me, too bad for his GS(aww no turbo?) he lost. All of you who keep breaking your trannys, you need to learn how to double clutch or buy a NONsportscar!!!!!!!

Positives: Terriffic Acceleration,0-60 in six seconds. All-wheel drive is unstoppable in snow, helpful in rain. You can out-accelerate any two-wheel drive off the line just because the tires don''t spin. Nice looking. Good front seat room and roomy hatch with back seats folded down. Great 8 speaker infinity stereo. Passable 5 speed. Weaknesses: Hard Ride, notchy acceleration due to turbo, low profile tires leak, and you can''t tell when they''re low just by looking. Running through potholes is expensive due to bent rims. I''ve had almost no trouble in 33k miles. A transmission bearing went a year ago, but it was covered. Other than that, it''s been great. I understand the normally-aspirated engine had more problems, but mine is fine. Danvers Mitsubishi never lied to me. Worth seeing if you are in MA. The price was the going rate for this top-of-the-line model that year. Scott
