Strength:

I like the look of it being sporty.

Weakness:

Small space. I''ve also been having some transmission problems, but I expect that with a 1991 model with only 36,000 miles on it. Because it shifts hard for an automatic, it doesn''t zoom off the way that I want it to.

For this being my first car, it''s very fun to drive. I have no comparision to any other car, except for a Saturn. I expect problems from every car that is around ten years old.

It looks like a Celica, but doesn''t run like it.

Strength:

Great looks, great factory sound system, very fast car, wonderful engine sound and handling. Even automatics are fast when you know how to race.

Weakness:

Ground clearance too low, battery has starngly died twice, auto tranny will have some delays evey now and then with sudden stop and going

First off my car is an automatic, I wanted a 5 speed but these cars are tought to come by near my area. I was orginaly going to get a 98 RS 5 speed but saw the chance to get a turbo. I got the turbo despite being automatic. Few days later i added xenon plazma head lights and a K & N filter, the difference is there. Can you say smoking the tires with a turbo automatic =). I have a technique by holding the brakes and giving gas untill 2800 rpm( near max boost) then let it it rip with a monster jump tha amazes even me every time beating anything with an na V6 including Supra non turbos Mustank GT''s(you''ve heard that before) and preludes. I''ve added 18in rims with 225/40 rubber. Every car I''ve owned was turbochargered and I''d hate to change that. This car is fun but not as fun as my modded 88 mazda 626 5 speed that made over 220 lbs/ft of torque killer 4 door but id always get creamed by a modded late 80''s galant that even beats my eclipse and nearly every thing that races him. My favorite thing about the car is when you add an air filter you can hear the turbo and the blow off valve and it is music o m ears. I''ve had no real problems other then random batteries dieing ???????. If its possble to add an manual id do that for next summer. Other mods to do for next year are full exaust system custom upper intercooler pipe with new BOV, boost controler, boost and air/fuel gauge, performace pullies and cam shafts. My greatest moment so far was beating a 5 speed GSX =) but any way 2nd gen Eclipse''s are very great sports cars in terms of looks style and what most lack, performacedon''t belive someone who says GSX''s are faster then GS-T''s the 250 extra pounds r not made up by the awd

Strength:

Roomier than old eclispes. nicer stereo, looks good, solid acceleration all the way to redline, 6000 rpm. Good mileage if I keep my foot out of it I can usually get about 33-35.

Weakness:

The brakes are weak when slowing down for high speeds. Backseat headroom is still meager. Air conditioner weak in hot July weather. Manual Transmission hard going in and coming out of 1st gear. Scariest vehicle I''ve ever driven in snow (would not stay in a straight line at 40 miles per hour. Buying the car depends on what you like and where you live. If you live in the mountains, leave it on the lot.

A nice car, fun to drive, pretty fast, good looking, i like the new body style. the car is kinda girly though, i had to work on it to make it look like a man''s car.

Weakness:

Transmission, ECU, Idle, Paint and ...... brakes really easy, parts are expensive and it is hard to fix (mainly transmission), the worst transmission ever made.

Strength:

It looked good when I bought it.

Weakness:

engine, transmission, road noise, radio, shall I keep going??? The value depreciated very quick, so if you take out a loan don''t plan on selling for what you owe!!

A lot of engine problems, transmission problems. The car was in the shop withing the 1st month of owning it. The service dept. did not to honor the warrenty. Things were constantly breaking & the check engine coming on for minor things with a limited amt of mechanics willing to work on it, this became costly. All of the repairs were costly. The service dept. was so rude I refused to take it there after the warrenty ran out, & have been procratinating on a recall for the same reason!! You feel every bump, hear every rock, & have to turn the radio up unless want to listen to road & engine noise, that''s assuming your in an area where you can pick it up since after about two years the antanne started shorting out so that you could only pick up stations if you were in close proximity to there air waves. The front spoiler hits every dip in the road & you must be cautious of curbing.
