Strength:

Sporty, fast & can park easily

Weakness:

Mitsubishi doesn''t like to honor warranty bad motor, bad roof, no trunk space, only 2 people should ride or you will feel like you''re almost on the dashboard, comfortable for about 1hr or riding, seats don''t recline far enough

I had the car only 2 days and my roof leaked, key socket fell inside door, alarm malfunctioned, lifter problem. It was in the shop several times. They kept temporarily fixing the problems until I sent a letter to the General Manager of Mitsubishi & demanded my car get fixed or I would sue them. Everything seemed fixed until I woke up one morning to go to work & the interior of my car was soaking wet. There wasn''t anything I could do b/c my warranty had expired on it. Those MF''s knew exactly what they were doing. They just patched my car up until I ran out of warranty. I finally got rid of it. Thank GOD. It was a pain in my A**!

-nice stereo/CD system -nice has mileage -big time eye catcher -very popular car -good pick up speed -chick magnet car

Weakness:

-i wanted a standard, but ive been so impressed, that it doesnt bother me too much -i havnt really discovered any weeknesses yet

This car is straight up dope to me.ive had it almost 2 weeks, and i already love it, and so does alot of girls. now thats a good thing and a bad thing...good thing becuz its a chick magnet, bad thing is becuz i have a girlfriend already,an i love her lots...Id recommend this car to any body that likes sports cars,or/and wants to catch girls. On a personel note, i like the 99 model better then the new millenium models(2000,2001)..the 99 is a lil more compact, which i like and more sportier looking.

Beautiful car to look at, fun to whip around the corners with, and can kick almost anyone''s butt.

Weakness:

speeding tickets!! oh yeah and the top, the back seat could be a little bigger, but that wold ruin the whole concept of a sports car now wouldn''t it?

I love my car!!! definetly gets you alot of attention with the top up ( even more with it down) I think the only real problem I have had is the top leaking when it really pours, or the car wash. I laso notice that when it gets colder outside that the brake light stays on, dealer couldn''t find any problems.

Nice looking , sporty car

Weakness:

A LOT of weaknesses. I would never ever buy this car again. Convertible top controller broke after only 3 years and also the roof leaks in the rain. The car rides too low in the front and scrapes constantly. You have a huge blindspot in the back. I was also told at the dealership that mitsubishi is now having a lot of problems with their convertibles!!

Beautiful car, very flashy. Fun to drive with the top down. Looks sleek. My car is only 1998 and ALREADY the convertible top won''t operate properly. I was told at the dealership this would cost $530 to fix!!! PLease beware of this car!! For what I paid for it, I expected a lot more. A convertible top breaking after barely 3 years is ridiculous!

1993 Geo Storm, actually a much better car and better value for the money, than a flashy, cheaply made overpriced convertible! if you want a convertible, get a mustang or something else!! Or even cons

Very fun car to drive. powerful 2.0L engine. nice and stable at high speeds.sticks to the ground like glue(after KYB gas shocks and lowered matrix springs and Falken tires) killer looks which i get alot of attention from chicks whenever i either drive by or pull up and get out of the car.ALot of pple love it(they love to see it but dont knw what kinda problems they give u!) oh and the stock speakers are amazingly great loud and clear. ANd the car looks better then the 3rd gen. eclipse/

Weakness:

problematic. not reliable as a long term car. seats tend to get uncomfortable after a long drive and easily staind.

Me being my ignoront self despite what all my race car fanatic frds tell me about the problematic eclipse i bought it anyways. Have to admit looks are killer for a car that price.Very heavy stable car when your going really fast down the freeway but alot of rattling from god knows where.and sometimes to a extent my glovecompartment opens. Well when i bought the car there was a couple problems...the oil was leaking from the valve cover and the oil evaporating on the hot engine just makes smoke come out with a distinct smell. So i had to change the gasket naturally when i also found the oil still to be leaking which was from the transmittion. Then also all my struts were leaking(and im talking about when i just got this car! and no it wasent salvaged either) so i had to change the struts and the fender gap between the wheels are hugeee so i dropped it 2 inches. the car does have power i must say for a 2.0L engine and when u change ur exhuast u get the deep throaty distict mitsubishi roar..not like some cheap honda sound. So far transmittion hasent given me a problem but im crossing my fingers that it wont die on me anytime soon. the car acclerates slow at the strat but really kicks in after 3,000rpms. Engine performace fluctuates sometimes it runs rich and the pedal is heavy and sometimes it runs lean and it lags and the throttle is weak. The car gets very unreliable after 80K miles..thats when all the troubles crop up. But it is a chick magnet all the girls wld rather jump into my eclipse then a sellout honda. yea maybe the backseats are small but hey i fit a bunch of my huge frds back there and they dident seem to mind and it gives that sport car feeling too....if it was luxurious back there sometimes awefuly wrong.the seats are adjustable in hieght like sitting on it at the lowest height possible. firm steering wheel. my rear window is making a *clunk* sound when i roll it all the way down. same sound when it comes up too. seats get really uncomfortable after a long drive and u have to constatly change the rear view mirror cos of the discomfort.but a awesome car on short drives and its a really really fun car to drive. if ur thinking of getting one..make sure its low miles or cross ur fingers it aint a lemon.

Strength:

Power, looks, handling. A true sports car at a "bargain" price. Too bad they ruined it in 2000 by getting rid of the turbo and all wheel drive options.

Weakness:

Poor gas mileage and a very bumpy ride.

This is my first time owning a sports car, and I couldn''t be happier! My only complaints would be the low gas mileage and stiff suspension [I feel EVERY bump in the road, no matter how small], but I realize that''s all part of driving a sports car. The car is fast, with plenty of low end torque and high end horsepower, and handles like an absolute DREAM! I''ve never driven an all-wheel vehicle before, and I just can''t believe how well this car corners. The car also looks fantastic, with incredible sleek lines. I''d say it was a total chick magnet, except that I''m too ugly and too old for it to help me much... I''ve never had this much fun driving before, and after 6 months I still spend most of my time in the car with a silly grin on my face. If you''d like to visit my car, you can see it at http://barrygoldberg.net/eclipse.htm

NICE LOOKING CAR...THAT IS WHY WE BOUGHT IT.

Weakness:

TOO NUMEROUS TO MENTION.

TRANSMISSION FAILURES! RUDE AND NON-RESPONSIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE MFG. RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL SALES PERSONS AT THE DEALERSHIP (AFTER YOU BUY THE CAR OF COURSE). IF THIS IS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH MITSUBISHI, PLEASE CONTACT ME AS THERE IS STRENGTH IN NUMBERS. After complaining numerous times to service dept. about transmission problems, and having only a solenoid replaced, and after that the response was that there was nothing wrong with the trans, or that this is the trans in this car operates, or that the problems are caused by the way you drive the car, or that the ECU does not indicate any problem...after the car is out of warranty, the service department THEN tells us it needs a completely new transmission at a cost of $4,000.00!!! the sales department told me this 1998 car is only worth $7,500, and we still owe $6,000.00 on it. You do the math. sounds like a salvage vehicle to me.

Unreliable hunk of junk

I''ve had my Eclipse since I purchased it new in ''96 and it''s given me nothing but PROBLEMS. It''s broken down NUMEROUS times and left me stranded. It''s gone through TWO TRANSMISSIONS and had serious engine problems. I paid over $2,200 a year ago for a valve job, and now the engine is shot AGAIN and the dealership that fixed the engine the first time told me it will cost ANOTHER $3,000-$4,000 to fix it!! I just paid them over $2,000 for the transmission last month. Basically, now I am stuck with this hunk of junk that doesn''t run and am not about to sink anymore money into it. Dealership even admitted that the car sucked!!!
