Strength:

Great looking and fast

Weakness:

Trannys

I have owned this GS-T since 97 upgraded the turbo to a 20 pound Greddy, intercooler, blow-off valve, pistons, Bullfrog Head, ACT stage 3 clutch, I really enjoy this car but the problem I had was blowing through 3 trannys in a period of 5 months, but other than that it''s a great car.

Strength:

low 15 high 14 second car stock(depending on the driver). Acceleration, Handling, Looks and runs forever.

Weakness:

Must Change the Timing Belt at about 60,000 miles.

I was in love with the first Generation Eclipse and Talon's when they first came out. All wheel drive Turbo. DAMN! A boost controller, intake and exhaust and I was in the low high 12's low 13's in the quarter mile. They Handle better than those new Subaru WRX(which one of my best friends has). My car is all street legal and i blow the doors off Camaro's, Mustangs, and whatever pulls up at the light next to me. It's funny when Civic's and Integra's rev there little 55 horsepower motor's on my baby.

Strength:

Great handling, good acceleration off the line better in second gear

Weakness:

the transmission sucks

Great car, best that I have driven in a long time, good in the snow in the rain, only down fall to winter driving is the snow shovel effect that the front end has. The car looks good drives better and is alot of fun on the road. I would recomened that you put a few dollars into mods they make alot of difference, I put a shift kit, exaust system and I'am planning on others.

Strength:

Acceliration off the line. Handling, you can turn a corner at 50 mph! With mods (like strut bars and sway bars), then you can turn them going 60. Great sound system (stock). Looks are awsome. When you accelerate, its an attention getter, you can hear the turbo spool up!

Weakness:

No turbo timer or Yaw control option like they have in japan. Needs bigger stock intercooler.

This car has so much potential it's insane. The handling and speed is magnificent. There are plenty of After Market products available. I have already put some mods in it (which i will decline to say becuase i don't want bitters on my tip!). I have taken out Integs (Both turbo and nuturaly aspirated v-tec) and Type R, Civics, Acura CL 3.2 Type S, Mustangs a.k.a (Rustang)GT, Camaro SS, Corvette (The 2000-2001 model, subaru WRX...just about anything outhere. If you find one for cheap, GET IT! Off the line, it's unbeatable. With minor bolt on mods, no internal engeine work, you can get up to 350 horse power! And if you put a bigger turbo, don't worry, the engine can take it. It's the same engine they have in japan with the Lancer Evo collection. BAD TO THE BONE!

Model Reviewed: Eclipse Spyder Convertible

Strength:

- Strong chassis enabling sure-footed handling and virtual absence of scuttle shake
- V6 growl and performance
- Short-throw gearshift
- Features and overall value
- Infiniti CD Sound System
- Friendly, helpful service from the Costa Mesa Mitsubishi team.

Weakness:

- No heated seats
- It would be great to have even more power - perhaps a supercharger (I believe 2002 models will have this option)
- Windscreen wipers do not seem to work as efficently as they could, despite replacement of wiper blades. I have owned other Mitsi's before and the same problem seems to occur as well. Maybe it's just me(!)
- Windscreen wipers

An extremely capable car on all counts, and exceptional value. Handles well for a drop-top and short-throw gearbox is a dream to use. I have driven several convertibles and as many people know, the biggest problem with driving a vehicle minus a tin-top is scuttle-shake. The Saab 9-3 is notorious for this, however the chassis on the Eclipse is very firm, and scuttle shake is all but elminated. The V6 is wonderful on full-song, and there is nothing quite like driving along in the sunshine listening to the Infiniti Sound System doing its thing and having that gorgeous V6 growling away in the background. Very well appointed, however heated seats is a much-missed option that I'm not even sure Mitsi' offers in its' Eclipse range. I highly recommend this car to anyone looking for a well-rounded sports car that is value-packed and scores highly on many points.

Similar Products Used:

- Toyota Camry Solara - over-priced and under-specified. Pushy, arrogant Toyota Sales People. Looks like a family car without a roof.
- Ford Mustang. Every Rednecks' dream car(!) Powerful V8 but gearbox and handling not up to standard of Eclipse.
- Chrysler Sebring. Overall package not as refined as competition. Looks are too in-distinct.

Strength:

HANDLING-makes sharp corners look like straight aways, great on gas too, i get around 30 mpg. The engine stays seemingly young, the eclipse can get the RPM's up there around 7k (i dont dare go higher for god knows what could happen)...but great acceleration for a 2.0

Weakness:

Only things i've had to replace since buying it was new rear brakes and rotors...oh yeah and a hood, watch out for them deer!!

This car goes!! Compared to the minimal kick of the SLOWMATIC, the 5-speed has great acceleration and with 125,000 miles on her, she can still tack it up there with the best of them. Before I purchased this vehicle i test drove some automatics and to be honest i was turned away by the noticable slow pick up it had off the line. So I settled with the manual.

Strength:

The way the car handled was definitely the best. Never had problems with anything.

Weakness:

Small backseat, hard to fit anyone over 12 back there. ha

The eclipse was my dream car. Drove wonderfully and I haven't had a problem with it yet. Along with the good looks, it gave me no problems. In a matter of 5 months I had put 20,000 miles on it. The only thing it needed were the oil changes. I can't say enough about this car. Back seat is super small. Wouldn't recommend car as a family car!!

Strength:

high top end speed, sexy looks, easily modified

Weakness:

needs a little more power, fair acceleration, not enough room in back seat

Very sexy car, looks good and runs great. Handles very nice, even at high speeds, so far I've driven it up to 135 mph, but not at full throttle so I'm know I'll be hitting 150 mph soon. Millage is kinda scary for my type of driving, especially now that prices have been so high.

Other cars of its class simply don't compare. I never thought I would want to buy an eclipse but after test driving it, I fell in love
