Eclipse GS-T
Strength:
-Has a serious amount of speed (especially with a boost control, blow off, and intake). Bolt on parts can seriously up your hp.
Weakness:
-Car is quite expensive to maintain This is the fastest car you can buy for the money. After driving my eclipse for only over 6 months now, I would never go back to a non-turbo car. I smoke the hell out of any civic, integra gs-r, or celica. I keep hearing people tell me that a Type R will beat me, but I'll smoke that too. Unfortunately the car does cost a great deal of matinence money but it is well worth it. If you can get your hands on one in good condition, I would reccomend buying. Similar Products Used: -Will smoke any other import out there with exception of the Supra, I can even hang with my friends 3000GT VR-4. |

Strength:
I love the look. Mine is white with the sun roof. The Infiniti CD system is very, very good. I also enjoy the overlapping dashboard guages. Manual transmission shifts effortlessly. Keyless entry is a plus. No more late night door scratches.
Weakness:
Cabin space. I'm 6' tall but I actually fit. Forget about seating someone behind me. Back seat is for insurance purposes only. I may be able to squeeze 2 sets of golf clubs in the trunk with the back seat up. Down, won't be a problem. Rear window...of course this is a sports car and has a hatch-back on it, but with the rear spoiler starring at you, it's a bit cumbersome. Biggest "obstacle" is it's blind sopt. Must use extra caution traveling I-95. Tan interior with these specs of something isn't the most attractive, but like I said, it was a good car at a great price and it only has 4000 miles on it. This is a first impression response. I had not intended on an Eclipse, but the looks, price, and quality of the "new" Mitsubishis steered me towards it. My first choice was a new Maxima, but budget-wise, the GS caught my eye. I also looked at the Mustang GT b/c of the V8 and sound of the dual straight pipes, but I wasn't confident on the engine's track record. Similar Products Used: I have never owned a true sports car. I have had a '93 Z24 with the 3.1L and 140HP, which was fun for a while. I have also owned a 240SX which I loved, but 140HP in a rear wheel drive it was a bit weak in the winding roads of West Virginia. I traded my '96 Grand Am for this car. Similar engines (2.4L) with similar HP, but I think the Grand Am, even though it's an automatic, has a bit more torque out of the box, but the GS surpasses it's top end speed....easily |

Eclipse Spyder GS
Strength:
Great looks
Weakness:
Not many that I can think of. had some probs while it was under warranty but Mitsubishi stood behind it 100% and i was VERY satisfied! I bought this car in July 99' as a graduation present to myself. MAN!! Can i pick out some great graduation presents! :). The Spyders are awesome! I have smoked mustang after mustang, celicas, hardtop eclipses, even a few older porsches. it may be hard to believe, but even w/o it being a turbo, this car can haul butt!!! Not to mention, the babe magnet effect. Drop the top, throw in a CD and the rest of the work is done. Whether you wanna race some puny integra or just cruise the beach looking for girls in thongs, there is no other car like this in the same price range. I've driven many many mustangs and they are so common these days, noone even lifts their had up to look at one. Now a Spyder will get you some attention and some hot blonde passengers too :) Similar Products Used: I've driven almost every mustang imagniable...they're just plain boring and uncomfortable compared to the cockpit of a Spyder :) |

the car handles very good for being a front wheel drive car. also has good power- ive squaked the tires in 2nd gear on dry pavement.
Weakness:
personally, i dont like the way it shifts. the car looks awesome. it attracts quite a bit of attention, especially women :) too bad there isnt that much space in the car to put them all. the car has great acceleration. it would beat the saab i drove for sure. seats also had good support all around Similar Products Used: ford taurus SHO, v6 mustang. saab 900 se 2.0 turbo |

Strength:
Nice power for a 4 cylinder / non-turbo
Weakness:
Radio position is bad Real fun to drive, and if you've seen the movie The Fast and The Furious, it makes you feel really proud. My car has only 27K miles, but no problems that I ran into. I beat on the car so badly, people start crying for my car, but I also take care of it really well, which is what stops problems from starting. Mods also help the car out if you want power. Keeping it stock and still demanding power doesn't help the situation. Similar Products Used: 90' Ford T-Bird SC ---> Although, the T-bird was an automatic, it was still fun to drive, and the super charger blew away the eclipse, but not after I get all the mods I want done to the eclipse |

Still powerful esp for a nonturbo with 188k on it, Handling... and for those complaining about turning diameter, well, that's what the hand-brake is for!!! Just dont get off the gas too fast in hard corners!!
Weakness:
Tranny in '90 models will go out by 75,000 miles.. 1st year car still had some bugs, but with some mods, it can be ok. Reliability- 188,000 miles, 30k of those without the balance shaft belt, so my dumb ass wasn't getting any oil to the top of the engine... Have beat this car hard since 1991 when i bought it with 12,000 miles, and it still goes strong... This car will STILL top out and beat out a 300zx non turbo.. no problem getting it over 130mph with nothing more than an iceman intake, and a couple of small mods and some good tires. looks nice, great interior
Weakness:
pretty much everything mechanical, and the replacement parts are extrememly expensive i have not had a good experience with this car. i have had 2 engine rebuilds, 2 new clutches, the shifter grinds horribly into 2nd gear, acceleration is jumpy. i have put more money into fixing the car than i spent on it. Strength:
Acceleration, looks, handling, interior, fun, heater works awesome(even in -90 degree ND windchills!)
Weakness:
gas mileage (with today's prices), interior fit/moldings, rough idle still, trim Best 3500 I have ever spent. Loved these cars from day one and finally purchased one. Will knock the socks off of almost anything that attempts to hang with it. It is fun embarrassing mustangs and camaros with this little thing. I'll probably end up dying in it due to its size but who cares...it'll be worth it! First model year of the eclipse and the best looking one. Similar Products Used: no match bang for the buck |
