Go slow in the snow..... I bought this car brand new in ''94. I have never had a major problem and I am not big on preventive maintenance. I am searching for a Benz, but will NEVER sell my 240. It is a collectors dream. Fast, Sexy, Economical. The guy with the bad experience below got a lemon -- don''t blame your ignornace in car buying on the car! You are in the minority. My husband drives the Lexus LS 400, but when we wants to have fun driving, he takes my car! Similar Products Used: mustang; nissan pulsar; mitsubishi conquest; lexus LS400 |

Power! Lots of time looking behind you and laughing at the cars still back at the light! Good looks, general maintenance hasn''t been bad at all, lots of room to play with for modification work.

''love'' the small back seat designed for kids 0-5. Not much fun for adult passengers, so don''t take a bunch of friends with you crusin'' the streets. I just got this car. I had no idea what to expect when I bought it. The car had been in a front end accident of some sort and blue book said it should be worth $5000. I got a screaming deal on this car. After it was checked out at a shop, they told me nothing was wrong with it. It''s probably the best and most fun car I''ve ever had the chance to own! I''d buy it again if I had the chance to do it over. |

Torque. It''s a 2.4l, and torquy as hell, unlike what one would expect from a Japanese car. It''s not a rev-happy engine and you definately feel the strenght of the motor when you hit the gas, pushing you into your seat with a nice, deep and bassy roaring sound. The 240sx handles like a dream, and it''s RWD, so you can have LOTS of fun with it! My engine is in perfect condition and has 160k kms on the counter, still running as new. If you''re looking for an affordable sports car, the 240sx should be on top of the list. Again, it''s torquier much more original than the Integra (it beats a GSR), Celica, Talon (n/a version) and all the econo-boxes. Upgrades are a little harder to find than those for Civics, but you get quality, and some mods are very interesting (whether you turbo your KA24DE, or swap a SR20DET in). I also want to mention the great driving position, the visibility inside, and the nice and modern looking console. So, basicaly, wheter you''re into auto-xing, Solo, drag racing, or just want a nice and sporty car, all I can say is get a 240sx! And of course, if you get one, the Nissan community is very friendly and professional. A good source of information would be
Weakness:
If you live in the north, you might dislike the RWD in the snow. But I LOVE it. I didn''t even bother to install my winter tires, I''m running on four-seasons tires even on the snow, and it''s great! You get used to it. Some people might dislike the fact that there''s virtualy no place on the back seats, and that there''s no cupholders. but hey, the 240sx is a SPORTS car. Not happy? Go get a Corolla and shut up :) Finaly, I hate the fabric on the door panels and the seats. It''s just plain ugly and cheap. But very easy to cover with leather, and the seats should be replaced (cause they don''t realy hold you in place, besides being ugly). There''s nothing else to complain about. A superb machine! This is my first car, I''ve been using it for a couple of months already, and not only am I entirely satisfied, I''m also greatly impressed! Unlike some idiots who seamingly CAN''T drive the car and are unable to post their review only ONCE (see below - hope the dork his happy with his Corolla), I believe this is a very reliable car, it''s also very sporty and looks great for a 10 year-old car. Similar Products Used: I''ve tried an Accent and a Protege (92), and you just can''t compare them to the 240sx. I''ve also been in an Integra, and you don''t feel the low-end torque as much as in the 240sx. To give you an |

Great Car for the money, Dependable, [never saw a 240 on the side of the road] Handles excellent in the rain, maybe because of my wheels, Excellent gas mileage, looks great
Weakness:
Crunched up back seat, but I am no taxi cab so why should I care? Needs a little more horses under the hood. I have had this car for over 6 years and I am extremely impressed and satisfied. I am no expert but my experience with this car was and still is wonderful. The only work done on this car was optional, some rims and new tires. Other than this, everything on the car is still original. Oh I changed the muffler too. Definitely a good car especially for first time buyers. The price will not send you to the poor house and you will enjoy years of worry free driving. However, it may not be the perfect car if you are all about speed. Its stolen. Can''t really drive it. I needed a get-away car after I robbed a liquor store in Crenshaw, so I saw this Lil'' racer passin'' by and pulled my 9 on his ass! This car has plenty of torque as stated many times in the reviews. It has beaten the dohc 240''s that I have encountered on the road.At a drag event I beat an Rx-7tt off the line and gave him a run up to the 60'' mark.Of course, when his turbos kicked in,I got wasted! If these cars were built with turbos for the states, even if on the KA series motors,I''m sure that sales would have been alot better for Nissan. With a couple of power adders like intake and exhaust, you can get a few more ponies and a great sound from your 240''s.I would recommend getting a clutch kit installed for more reliability and better power transfer.Check out the NIssan Motorsports catalog!
Weakness:
I didn''t like the fact that such a great sports car would be defiled in the manner it was upon coming to the states.Japan definately got the better of the twins.I say twins because although the J-spec and the states side models look alike, just like twins, they aren''t exactly alike within. It lacks a real top speed due to the speed limiter.Even if you can beat the competition off the line, they''ll catch you sooner or later.Keep an eye open for radiator failure. The plastic end tanks will crack and leave you stranded. I really love the 240sx.I''m a big fan of the Nissan family. My older brother had a 510 that I drove when I was a kid.Ever since then I''ve wanted to own a Nissan. Now I have what I''ve always wanted and I am trying to get it together for some racing fun.I''ve drag raced it for a while an it did pretty good for having high miles. Now I''m dropping in a couple of go fast goodies and continuing to race. For those of you who want a car to drive daily as is,or to tinker with, this is the one to get!Enjoy the ride! Torque, Torque, Torque. This car has an awesome power band, little low on the Hp, but it handles like a high dollar machine. It has pretty good comfort, I get about 26-28 mpg. Nice easy to read cluster, and climate controls. Sleek look, sweet odd out flip up head lights.
Weakness:
No back seat, radio is in an odd place. O-ring goes to easy on these cars. Brakes, needs bigger brakes. Rear spoiler on fastbacks are like this foam, should have been fiber glass. Plastic bumper for this year fades. Great little car, suprises Integras(rs/gs) and Civic SI''s alike. Not to mention little Ecplipse, and all this when it was still stock. Still have the KA24DE, how ever I am heavily weighing the SR20DET swap. This car handles well and is VERY dependable, have never seen one on the side of the road. Girl friend had one that went 225,000 on original engine and transmisson (still going).
