Strength:

Great handling. Very JDMish looks. RWD. One of the best and most reliable 4 cyl engines around.

Weakness:

Lack of horsepower and acceleration on a stock 240SX. Mushy suspension (doesn't take away from handling, but "feels" bad)

Great car, Nissan makes very reliable cars. However, the US spec engine is somewhat weak. The torque is good, but torque can only get you so far. The top end is not as good as I'd like, but nothing to really complain about. The handling is what this car's all about. This is the car for those that love to "drive sideways" (aka, drifting). It's so easy, even in an automatic, to step the rear wheels out into a controlled drift on all four tires. You can do it even without using the e-brake. Great car for autocrossing.
Again. lack of power is disturbing. The 0-60 mph times are about the same as the 140 hp Integra LS...mid 8 seconds. I expected more. Although it FEELS a lot faster than it really is because of the low end torque. A turbo install should fix that problem.

Strength:

The looks, its not a HONDA, the rear-wheel-drive, great handling, and its not a HONDA. Did I mention the rear-wheel-drive?

Weakness:

Back seats, friends complain about them. The car should have just been a two seater. But who's to complain when your the one thats driving? A bit more power would also be good too (SR20DET anyone?). Sadly there are no more... :( Seeing the 2000 S15 Silvia come out here would be nice though... :)

I got the 97' at $10,000 at 59,000 miles (wonderful price). The car is in great condition when I bought it and it ROCKS! Barley ANY 95-98 models on the street (almost as rare as seeing a 93-95 RX-7 around here), so you get the looks. I never had to take the car to the shop yet and its sooo fun to drive. RWD BABY! The RWD kicks butt on this car (a real sports car here for all you Civic kids out there), drifting is a must on this thing, take it to the max and take off in this. OH YEAH, one more thing... Its not a Honda. Call it a Civic killer cuz thats what you'll be doing with it most of the time :)

Strength:

love the seating position and handeling. visibility is good. brakes are badass. a/c is great. shocks and springs (stock) are pretty good.

Weakness:

After owning a 528 bmw, this has got to be hardest car to get in and out of and i am only 5'10" tall. My only other gripe is that the rear end brakes loose way too quick, whether it is under accelerationor going around a corner. may be my tires suck or something. I have 205 60 15s pirrelis R rated. oh and i had to replace the top tank on the radiator and just today finished changing a radiator hose and it was the biggest pain in the behind because its placement under the water pump sucked. it also does this weird thing when at idle that it moves from 500 to 700 rpms and sometimes jumps up to 12 rpms.

I love my car i bought it when it had 112k on it and now have gone to phoenix and back from LA once and it was pretty comfy. good leg room but a little rough over bad surfaces. with my cd changer and amp there is not much room in the trunk and the back seats are good for holding some luggage. well if any one can tell me any thing about improving handeling or what to do about the rpm fluctuations please email me at drambod@yahoo.com

The horsepower. Brakes. Steering Radius. Interior. Overall look of the car.

Weakness:

The handling was not all that great but after i switched the old 195 60 15 to 225 50 15 it handled a lot better. and the parts are mostly dealer items and very pricey. I had to buy all new injectors and a window regulator for the car which was not very cheap......

The Brakes are GREAT!!!!!! I love the interior small but gives the look of a sports car. Very fast car will beat out most stock mustangs that i have raced. Very good car for the Money paid.

Strength:

Even power/tourque curve 155hp/155ppfT. REAR WHEEL DRIVE, unique styling, awesome tranny (5speed), good cockpit design. 91 DOHC twincam motor loves to REV and DROP! if you look hard enough you could probably find one for cheap like me. anything under 3,500 is worth it for this beast.

Weakness:

the only thing i can complain about is the SE model comes with FACTORY amps connected to the speakers, which SUCK!! so when you replace the stereo you have to go into the door and disconnect them and run the wires for the speakers direct from the head unit. after cutting the amps, there should be two wires left that match the ones at the radio. just plug em in. and no cupholder again...but like i said before, pep boys 2$. oh and i took my back seat out, no reason for that thing. just room for me and my baby.

this car is the freakin crap! if you look down on this board you can read my review of my 95 SE, its under TJ on 10/28/00 i think. anyways, i took my own advice and bought an older 240, and man am i happy i did. this is the absolute FUNNEST car ive ever driven in/drove. there might be more of these on the road then the 95 and up, BUT, nobody has the coupe, which i personally think looks ten times better then the hatch. i have people ask me all the time "what is that thing?" usually after they see the speed my little 4banger RWD can put up. The nissan 240's and 300zx's might be the last RWD asian imports made, besides the awesome but alittle too small for me, Mr2. make sure to get the 91 and up....all before have little SOHC motor. if possible find someone to swap a silvia motor in. 200+hp in Cali call V-spec, they do swaps all the time. wish i lived out there.

95 240sx SE - most sexy car ever, but also automatic, still fast tho.
91 240sx SE - this is the best for speed, and fun, the others look better tho.

also been in integs, civic SI's, GsR's, TypeR's, prelude's, Crx's. all good cars, i'll always love honda, but nissan is tops for me, if nothing else, for the RWD, and overseas factory TURBO motor swap option. if anyone would like and help with installs, or just advice, ive owned most all 240's you can own. and i'd be glad to help. Strength:

Dependability. Style. Handling.

Weakness:

SMALL back seat. Noisy on the freeway.

The most dependable car you could hope for. Mine is creeping up on 200K and running like a dream. Sometimes I wish Nissan would've traded a little reliability for some power though, especially in high gears. High low-end power will keep you running with higher horsepower cars for the first 45-60 MPHs though.

I've done some preventative maintenance, but nothing major. The biggest problem I've had has been with the brake master cylinder (pretty minor $200 and about 4 hours).

I WAS LOOKING FOR A CAR AND IT HAD TO HAVE TWO DOORS, MOON ROOF POWER EVERYTHING. SOME OF THE CARS I CONSIDERED WERE ACURA INTEGRA, HONDA PRELUDE, TOYOTA CELICA, HONDA CIVICS, I ONLY CONSIDERED THOSE MODELS UNTIL I MET THE 95 NISSAN 240 SX SE
THIS CAR REALLY HAS A NICE STYLE TO IT. I RECENTLY BOUGHT THIS CAR AND I HAD THE SIERRA PLATES. PEOPLE BEEN ASKING IF IT WAS NEW ? THE NISSAN 240 SX SE HAS AN INNOVATIVE, UNIQUE LOOK THIS THIS SPORTS CAR. I LOVE THIS CAR EVER SINCE I FIRST DROVE IT. RWD MAKES THIS CAR FUN TO DRIVE, NOT TO MENTION YOU ARE ABLE TO DO FISH TAILS AND MANY OTHER THINGS. THIS CAR IS NOT POPULAR. MEANING THERE ISNT MANY AROUND YOU WILL SEE A HAND FULL IF YOU ARE LUCK ON THE STREET. AND IT IS EVEN HARDER TO SEE A GOLD SE(I HAVE IT) FOR THAT MATTER.

Weakness:

STARTER HAD TO BE CHANGED RIGHT AWAY BUT THAT WAS TAKEN CARE OF!
SMALL BACK SEAT AND TRUNK SPACE!!

THIS CAR IS BOMB EXPLOSIVE!! INSURANCE IS HIGH !! THE PARTS ARE HARD TO FIND, BUT IF YOU WANT A CAR THAT GIRL WILL TURN THEIR HEADS THEN 240 SX SE SHALL DO IT. I PLAN TO PUT A SYSTEM INTO THIS CAR BUT IT WILL HAVE TO WAIT TILL THIS CAR IS PAID OFF. OVER ALL FIND THIS CAR FOR SALE IS HARD, AND EVEN SEEING A SIMILAR ONE TO MINE IS HARD... THAT IS Y I CHOSE IT! its DIFFERENT FROM THE REST AND AT THE SAME TIME HAS A GOOD REP.
