Strength:
Looks, Handling, reliability, aftermarket options for upgrading. Had the suspension upgraded and some minor engine mods. Car is a dream to drive around the twisties. Plus its rear whhel drive. Not like those hondas
Weakness:
engine needs more power. A quick fix after some mods. Don't make them anymore. Bring over the Nissan Silvia(japanese 240sx)! 1996 I paid $15000 for it. I have not had any major problems besides the normal wear and tear. Car now has 120000 mi. I have total confidence in this car over long trips. Plus its fun to drive. Would highly reccomend it to anyone (except if you have a big family). Similar Products Used: 1989 Nissan 240sx se,1986 Nissan 200sx, 1988 Toyota Supra |

Very nice handle, SUPER reliable car. Consider it is a 91 model. I was going to buy a cheap car then dispose after college. The performance of this car has amazed me, so I decide to keep it as long as the car still runs. If I am buying another car, I would buy this model again. The best feature of my car is the AC. The AC works like you are in the freezer. Gotta turn the tempature to the middle all the time. My car just broke 100k two weeks ago, don't have any major problems exception of changing a muffler(Cost like 60 bucks.)
Weakness:
If you don't smoke, take out the ash tray, then use it as your cup holder. This may solve the cup holder problem for some people. The only complains that I have about this car is the paints on the hood. My front hood looks like unfinish wax. Definitely recommend buying this car. I would probably get a newer model of 240 if you can. Why don't Nissan make this car anymore? That's a shame considering all the good stuff about this car. Similar Products Used: I drive my mom's Honda Civic. 240 holds bigger gas tank, and gets about the same highway gas mileage.(If you drive carefully) |

Strength:
perhaps the greatest strength of this car is its handling, this car can take just about anything out their as long as you arent driving in a straight line, I found that on average I can take a reccomended 45 mph turn at 70- 80 mph.
Weakness:
the only weakness is the relativly small engine, although the car can be easily upgraded and if you have the standard transmission you can wind the gears out for a little more power I would still have liked to see a V-6 model or at least a turbo or an overdrive option. I bought this car for 6K ( from a used car lot) it had about 150K miles in it, who ever had it before me must have babyed this car for the interior was spotless not a single crack in the dash or tear in the seats. I would definettly recommend buying this car, it hadles like its on rails, and can be easily modified for its lack of horse power. I would not recommend this for a first car as it can easily get a young driver into A LOT of trouble ( brings out the racer in you) other than that I love this car. Excellent handeling. Decent power. Fit and finish is flawless. Excellent reliability. Nice leather interior. The full options package is great, including 6 speaker CD stereo, sunroof, 4 wheel ABS and sport suspension.
Weakness:
This car could use a bit more power. A turbo would be nice! Don't buy this car if you are going to haul people around in the back seat, there is very little room back there! Unfortunately I had to sell my 240 a few months ago in order to finance my way back to school. I would recommend this car to anyone who is looking for a good, fun and reliable vehicle. One of the most appealing aspects of this car is it's rarity. There simply aren't that many of these cars on the road. Even after 6 years, this car still gets second looks! I paid $26000 Canadian 6 years ago, and at that time it was a bargain compared to similar cars like the Celica and Prelude. Similar Products Used: None |

all the extra equipment is nice. heads up display is cool. it is easy to up grade the stereo. sunroof opens car up alot on hot days. engine is quick but could be quicker. the manual transmission helps out on acceleration.
Weakness:
could use a little more horsepower, some cupholders, and more leg and head room. trunk is very short in height. sunroof could use tilt option. paid $3500 in 2000 with 102K miles. car has been run hard but still runs well. paint is messed up and leather is starting to wear. no mechanical problems so far. i would recommend this car to anyone who doesn't have to haul anything large. it is quick and doesn't use much gas. it a great car for anyone looking for a mechanically sound car with little repairs. Very good handling, unique style (luxery sport car), descent power that is farily easy to upgrade, ergonomics of controls, sport car like cockpit also farily reliable.
Weakness:
Back seat? Its a sport coup, that doesn't matter plus if it was a 2 seater the insurance would be even higher than it is! Not enough power. Good base engine but no upgrade engine. Not good enough to compete with the VTechs, turbos and V8's.n Though, if modified it can compete and the handling potential of this car is well worth it to modify it. Wish that the front seats had a little more shoulder room and the carpet was better quality, also the windows raddle b/c of the stiff suspension. Last but the rear end styling needs to be greatly improved to complement the Lexus SC300 look of the front end. If you want a midrange priced used car that handles very well, has descent but modifiable power, fun to drive, reliable and don't want the terribly high insurance that comes with 2 seaters, turbos or American V8's this is the car!! Maybe the best handling car under new price of $30,000 I've had compliments and nothing bad said about it. The 240 does not have many good colors but the champaign gold is very pretty!! Best color by far in this car. Of course thats the color mine is. Similar Products Used: Test drove a Eclipse GS which the 240sx blows it away in handling and ergonomics. Engine is also better. |

I LOVE to take off! It has all the power that I need, and more. I find it to be very confortable and economical. At 170,000 miles it still looks great and handles beautifully. At 160,000 the water pump started to leak and I told my husband but what do I know? I am only a woman. His truck was broke so he took my car to work and brought it back with a cracked head so after a lot of grease under my fingernails we replaced it. But I would not replace the car. I still drive it about 3,000 miles every month.
Weakness:
No cup holder. Moon roof rattles on dirt roads. Nope that's about it. Gave $1800. for it at an auction and have never regretted it. Would recommend it to anyone without any children. Getting the grand-children into the back seat is quite a trick but with the seats down I can still get a fishing pole or a 50# bag of dog food in it. Almost everything. I love the body styling, both inside and out. The pop-up headlights, and standard rear-spoiler look great, as does every other contour. The speed and acceleration are both terribly fun, and the handling is superb. This vehicle zips around turns incredibly smoothly. I love driving my car; it is so much fun! Reliability is also wonderful. I bought it with the odometer in the 60k's and now it's over 100k and still running just as smoothly as it was during the test-drive, and the maintance has been minimal during that time; I havn't replaced anything that wasn't normal for it's age (pads, filters, etc). The dash is beautifully laid out - all instrumentation and controls are wonderfully located and designed. I can't think of what else to say, but ask me, and I'll probably tell you that's great too.
Weakness:
The back "seats" are primarily for show and small children. They fold down for trunk access, so use that for additional storage and treat it like the two-seater it is. There isn't a single cup holder anywhere in the car, which personally, is quite important - especially considering how simple it would've been to include such things. Aside from these minor complaints, I'd have to say it's wet-weather performance is lacking. In the rain, extra caution must be used, and all will be fine. In snow, you may want to consider prayer. I love this car. I don't plan on ever selling it. I'd like to own a truck to supliment it when I need to move things or get groceries when it's snowing, and other such things - but that's about it. I would never want to actually part with it. Hopefully, I'll own and maintain the thing right into antiquehood. Similar Products Used: Owned an Acura Integra - the 240 offers better appearance and performance, no question. Also owned a Jeep Cherokee - the 240 offers none of the practicality (cargo, passengers, weather ignorance, etc) that car had, but makes up for it in fun. |
