Strength:
No problems with motor and transmission will be the only strenght.
Weakness:
Front seats have the worst support for back/beware if you suffer from back problems. Very rough ride/struts have had problems since day one. Many electrical components have had problems. Major problems with suspension. Ride is very rough and front seats are extremely uncomfortable. It is not recommended for people with back pain due to the lack of support for you back(lumbar support). Have had numerous problems with electrical components, suspension components too numerous to mention. Car has been at dealer to determine loud noise on back strut during winter time, but several dealers have not been able to tell me what the problem is. In other words the 75K extended warrty I purchased has not been honored as I thought it would. Even tough my Nissan is reliable, the many visits to Svc dept, waste of time, and lack of attention from both Nissan North America and Nissan Dealers have made me decide that I will never buy a Nissan car again. I expected a little bit more from a new car with 75k extended warranty. Similar Products Used: None. |

Strength:
Not better than Honda or others in the same class.
Weakness:
No support for critical spare parts. Moral: BEWARE Nissan! or if you're too late pray that you won't need them. I purchased the car in early Nov 2002. A minor accident in mid December 2002 damaged some of the electrical wiring. The car has been in the shop awaiting repair since then because Nissan cannot supply the parts! Nissan admits this and says the parts are backordered nationwide. I thought the parts problem that foreign carmakers used to have was resolved a long time ago but apparently not by Nissan. |

NISSAN ALTIMA SE
Strength:
Engine power, build quality, reliability, gas mileage, handling, timing chain instead of wimpy belt that needs changing every 100,000 Km (65,000 miles).
Weakness:
Wind noise (front) depending on wich direction said wind is coming from. Even though power is decent, a bit more would be nice. Not as refined as Accord or Camry but trade off is acceptable since I prefer the sporty character the others lacked. Don't buy new generation, Mazda 6 is the hot item NOW.HEY GUYS YOU NEED TO FIX THE PRICE INPUT! Bought my Altima SE new,and chose the "SE" because of the sport suspension and was the only model of that generation ('98 - '01) with 4 wheel disc brakes ans std ABS.Never regreted that choice the suspension has gone a little softer after130,000Km's (80,000 miles) but is still stiffer than a new GXE. Trouble free car, still enjoy it today. Haven't changed any major parts except normal maintenance. Still have original brakes, but I guess it's because 75%-80% of my driving is highway. Decent power for a 4 cyl. (a large 4 though). Almost bought a new 2003 Altima 2.5S but canceled after 3 mo. wait because I had ordered both conveinience & safety package AND manual. After redading reviews I'm glad I,m keeping my '98 model, it looks like it's better rated than the new. I get the impression that quality has gone down since Renault took over. The packages and options of this new generation is "Mickey Mouse" compared to the previous generation. Altima GXE
Strength:
-Fair amount of power -Nice looking -convienient dash design (easy to replace deck) -INTERIOR COLORS AND FABRIC -Excellent, Excellent, Excellent -Well lit display -Well designed, shaped and good sized trunk -good storage -
Weakness:
-odd shaped back seats -small for a mid-size -wind noise on windows (they all do this) -seats could be better - Bought for $17,600 CDN (Taxes in) Bought the car used with 66000k on it and now have just under 100,000k. Before we bought it, the car had only two things done under warrantee, both very minor. We just replaced the tires (rear tires were original, front where generals) and have done oil changes and scheduled maintenance. I would recommend this car as a great alternative to a higher-priced accord or camry. It is solid and reliable. It is what it is. Its small for a mid-size but it costs way less than many others |

outside noise may be excessive around windows I strongly recommend this car. I am now at 118,000 miles an still going very smoothly. The only problem I have had is my window control button went out but was easily replaced. We have performed regular maintance. We get avg 24 miles per gallon which is very helpful with all the miles I put on it. Absolutley love |

Reliability, luxurous feeling
Weakness:
does not have ABS brake, not enough horse power, not big enough for a long trip My GXE Altima got 205K and ran through 3" deep snowy road on any Michigan hwy. Regular oil change and tune up really help. It is gona be a first major maintenance this summer to replace shock absortber ,4 tires & brakes, and an alignment job. I want to get this car ready for another 100k on milage. This car unhesitately started at sub-zero F. It can be driven to anywhere that have a drivable road. It is reliable and preditable. Treat it gentlely and it will give back all of your money. Similar Products Used: My wife has a 2003 QX4 - most powerful, luxurous, and capable. I expect to get at least 400k without going through any engine surgery at a machine shop. Guess what, machine shop and new car dealer do |

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD GOING NO MORE THAN 25MPH, THE CAR ENGINE WENT IN FLAMES, I HAD CALLED THE DEALER 1 WEEK BEFORE TO ADVISE HIM THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, HE TOLD ME TO JUST TIGHTEN THE GAS CAP AND IT WOULD GO OFF, AFTER TIGHTENING THE GAS CAP IT DID GO OFF. BOTH FRONT AIRBAGS CAME OUT AFTER THE CAR WENT ON FIRE AND THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS WOULD NOT WORK TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. |

Strength:
Brakes?... New design style.... Handleing...
Weakness:
All of the above... I bought this car last January, I now have 31K on it. It first brokedown with 7,000 miles on it. It over heated and needed a new radiator. Ive had my car in 7 times for warranty work since, including a new transmission. It began going at around 24K miles and finally brokedown by 30K. (mostly highway miles) Out of the year I've own this car, I have driven the car, maybe, 10 months, due to down time. What a horrible purchase the Altima has been! 2 radiators, a transmission, an altinator, and several "minor problems", to many to list. Strength:
Engine and chassis. The 3.5 has no weaknesses and the chassis is very stable in corners. The sound system is also top notch.
Weakness:
Notchy shifter doesn't feel as smooth as other new cars. Interior quality is questionable. A bit pricey, especially compared to the new Mazda 6s. No 6-speed manual! I bought my car in September 2001. I saw it and had to get it. The styling makes people stop and ask questions... I love the stereo. It is my first factory stereo that doesn't scream, "Take me out!" The strength of this car is the engine. It's a beast! You sacrifice fuel economy however. I really like the interior, with the leather seats, although I am starting to question some of the interior quality. The shift boot (manual) and the cup holder cover needs replacing. Both of these are warranty fixes, but you would expect these things to last longer than 15,ooo miles. I had a leak and then a rattle in the front passenger door, both covered by warranty. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase of this car. Similar Products Used: 1997 Maxima- No comparison. Bigger, faster, stronger... |
