Nissan Altima SE
Strength:
The interior space. Nice HP. Very Reliable.
Weakness:
Sagging of the Bumpers. I love Nissans!!! All the cars I have owned have been Nissans. I would not Drive anything else. The Altima does come with a few setbacks. I have noticed from my Sentra, 200sx and now my Altima that the back and front bumpers sag after a while and there is a spacing above it that is an eye sore. Other than that then I have no problems with my Altima Similar Products Used: 95 Nissan Sentra 97 Nissan 200SX |

Fast engine Rockin' Bose system Affordable price
Weakness:
Cabin noise Lack of insulation Bumpy ride I have had this car for approximately 2 months and I have complaints and praises for it. First, the engine is fast and the Bose stereo rocks. I think the leather seats are comfortable. Overall, I think the car is cheaply made. The doors sound like they are hollow when you close them and the roof sounds like a tin cabin roof in a rainstorm. The pinging is driving me nuts! Also, the cabin noise on the road is too loud. The ride is kind of bumpy AND finally, the car feels like it doesn't even touch the ground in rain. I'd say this... it's a decent value for the money and the car looks great from the outside. I'll probably keep it for a year and go for the Acura I should have gotten in the first place. Strength:
The power is great, interior is nice, lots of room, & most of all it handles great on the road. Even in bad weather conditions.
Weakness:
I think Nissan needs to do something about the paint they use. I had a 98 Nissan Sentra SE before this car and the paint on both cars chip easy. I don't know why they don't something about it. I know I am not the only one who has complained. Also, I am not a smoker but there are no ash trays in this car. I have looked everywhere and when I tell people there are no ash trays, they do not believe me. I can't say enough about my Altima. I love it, inside and out. I have no trouble keeping up with anyone. I have all the options except leather interior.I believe Nissan did a excellent job with this car. It is alot of car for the money. I get alot of compliments on the car everywhere I go. Just an all around classy car!! |

Strength:
Powerful Acceleration Suspension Reliable Low price (compared to used Camry or Accord )
Weakness:
Leaking transmission oil Brake This is a great car. I bought it used with about 60,000 miles on it; and put another 20,000 miles on it in the past 2 years. This car has never made any serious problems; I just maintain it regularly. The 2.4 engine is powerful and the acceleration is pretty good. I also like the sturdy suspension of my SE model( I think it is much better than the soft suspension of Camry). However, there are some minor problems with this car: 1) the brakes keep making some noise when slow driving; 2) The transmision oil is leaking a little bit. Strength:
Good performance, nice styling, great stereo, faster than most cars
Weakness:
no astray (I dont smoke, my mother does) My father got the new 2002 Altima 2.5S. At first, I thought that because the car is heavier than the 1995 Altima we have, it would be slower and we should have got the V6 Altima. However, the 4cylinder is a great performer. It has fast take offs without even pushing on the gas and on the highway, it easily goes 85. I could only imagine the V6. About the interior, it doesn't look cheap like other people have said. Infact,it looks better than the Honda Accords and Toyota Camry. It also has a great stereo system. People also complain that there is road noise on the 4 cylinder engine. There isn't alot of noise at all and its smoother than alot of V6's I've riden in out there such as the Mercury Sable. Even the 95 Altima I have (its my car now, because I got my license) is better than some of the 2002 cars that are out. But the 2002 Altima is a great car, especially for the price. Altima 3.5 5 SPD
Strength:
POWER - torque and top end HP, smooth engine which you want to use, view out, price, steering accuracy, looks, new platform, 5 SPD is available, good 5 SPD gearing for performance, interior roominess, body stiffness. Nissan reliability. Decent side bolsters on seats. Good cockpit adjustments and dead pedal. Firm brake pedal.
Weakness:
Steering is a little light (Boost hides the torque steer). Interior not totally upscale. Not rear wheel drive - usual torque steer, etc. Will need snows with 17" rims. Get the next Maxima (platform) now! Family hauler reviews say the ride is a little rough, but reviewers should be comparing it to the sports cars/sedans, not family cruisers. Great ergonomics and visibility, seat sits way up high. Looks great. Kicks butt in handling and power compared to my 1999 Maxima SE with extra anti-roll bar and front strut tower brace. Stiff body. Return of independent rear suspension (dropping of the independent rear suspension is what caused the Maxima to drop of the 10 best lists, even though the slalom speed went up) makes for a better ride. Altima GXE Limited Edition
Strength:
Value. 150 horses with all the nice features like power everything and decent CD stereo. interior build may be slightly below Honda Accord, but on the used market the Altima is less than a comparable CIVIC, let alone the Accord. Great all around value.
Weakness:
It doesn't have a bagful of torque at 80 mph, but what does at this price point? I had a 93 BMW 325i that was costing me a fortune in upkeep. In the Altima, I found a vehicle with the same trim features as the BMW for a lot less cost. To be sure, the power is nowhere near the same, but my racing days are over, so I'll take the practical reliability without the prestige. The features are all useful and the limited edition package adds the remote entry and pwer driver's seat. Its quite a nice car for the money, especially if it avoids the shop better than my beemer. Nissan Altima GXE
Strength:
Nice accelaration, solid reliability, good value, nice interior finish/equipment, nice overdrive system, great braking
Weakness:
Poor turning radius, velour seats (that everything sticks to), small rear entry/seating, bumper caps prone to fading/chipping Having sold Nissan marine products for many years, I came to love Nissan's performance and reliability. In early 1999, I purchased a used (clean) Nissan Altima GXE. I bought it from a reputable local car dealer and purchased a 4 year extended warranty for $1200.00 The car had a window price of $12,995, but drove it off the lot after three days of negotiation for $10,000 even. I don't baby this car, but I don't abuse it either. I maintain it well only missing a couple Nissan suggested service schedules that I feel are probably a profit pitch for the local dealer. I change the oil religiously every 3000 miles and have a system check performed every 6 months or so. I maintain the exterior finish with a teflon polish which keeps a showroom shine on my Alty. I love the acceleration the 150hp powerhouse allows. Some may say this car is sluggish, I simply can't see how... if you know how to drive, there is plenty of power to unleash. (note: all this even with an auto transmission). The engine is both smooth and responsive. There is next to no vibration when stopped. Engine noise is minimal for the most part unless you start tapping on 5-6K rpms. Smooth transmission shifting especially when advancing into the two-stage overdrive. This may take some people some time to get used to, but once you do it becomes one smooth running system. My b/f drives a standard (SAAB) and drives ME nuts when he drives my car. I don't particularly care for the fuel economy of my Nissan. It certainly doesn't break any efficiency records, that’s for sure. I average about 19-24 mpg. That’s a nice mixture of highway/city driving and I'll admit I like to pet all 150 horses from time to time. The best part about my car - it's both dependable and reliable. This car has me spoiled to death. During the three years I've owned this car I've replaced a $9 air filter and a $50 battery (just recently replaced). Both maintenance items probably not worth mentioning but it's ALL I’ve done to this vehicle. I get excited just thinking about it having finally escaped an on-going Buick nightmare. Besides my b/f's SAAB forces me to appreciate my Nissan repair history. If it wasn't for his SAAB we'd be in that three story house in the nice rich-folk neighborhood on the other side of town with the in ground pool and sauna. I'm delighted to say I wasted $1200 bucks on an extended warranty and emergency Similar Products Used: 1987 SAAB 9000, 1986 Buick Lesabre, 1988 Isuzu Pickup |

Strength:
-v6 power on the highway -6 disc bose stereo -dimming rearview mirror -styling -17" wheels -dual exhaust -remote windows down-good gas milage (26-29 mpg)
Weakness:
-car is heavy--sluggish below 40 mph at times -sunroof visor sometimes rattles, but not badly After doing 3 months of searching, the Altima ended up #1 on my list...it was there at the beginning and at the end. The Camry was great and the quality awesome, but it felt too old and the rear end was very unflattering. I've had problems with Hondas before so I switched to Nissan. The Car is amazing....the V6 is worth the money and the styling does turn many heads on the road. The combination of Japanese/European design has my friends in the Audi/BMW class jealous. As for the interior, i think that it is great. It is clean and modern and doesn't detract from the appearance of the car. I got leather and i think that it's great. the Bose stereo is stellar with the 6 disc changer. personally, this is the best car in this group...those whining about the interior aren't looking at the total package....it's a slick car with a contemporary and simple interior. I am writing this to find out if anyone else has had this problem. I have been very happy with this vehicle until recently - 23,000 miles and just had to replace both front tires. Dealer tells me nothing to do with alignment; however, they tell me caster is not adjustable! Still pulls to right even with alignment done. Trying to obtain more information. Has anyone else had this problem. Similar Products Used: 1995 and 1998 Mazda 626 |
