Strength:

V6 engine 240 hp. Great looking car. Roomy interior. Smooth and quiet ride.

Weakness:

So far I haven''t found any.

I''m really excited about this new car. I have the 3.5 SE and driving it is an absolute blast. The V6 engine with 240 hp has instant acceleration and power to spare. And Oh -- its incredible good looks!

Strength:

1. Power - what a sense of urgency! 2. Styling - unlike no other four door out there. It looks like a much more expensive car, a lexas or mercedes perhaps.

Weakness:

I''ve heard peoples grumblings about the interior and the fuel latch. I agree Nissan could''ve put a little more into the interior. But everything said, its very minor in my book, especially the fuel latch. Its down on the floor where you can''t even see it for crying out loud! LOL. Honda and Toyota - enough said, boring. This car is a drivers car and it gets attention.

I have mine fully loaded with the 5-speed with the sheer silver color. I have really enjoyed driving this car since I got it. It is an absolute rocket with the 5-speed.

Strength:

Styling, performance, comfort, roominess...did I mention styling.

Weakness:

4 cylinder is not the last word in refinement, some minor rear suspension noises, no light in the colum storage bin, some minor vibrations in the dash on very rough terrain

The re-designed Altima is one of the best, if not THE best, values in the automotive industry. It has been named North American Car of the Year and has impressed the entire automotive press. No it is time for the new Altima to win over Toyota and Honda loyalists. First, let me say that I am used to driving much more expensive automobiles. I wanted something inexpensive, roomy, comfortable, and economical since my career requires substantial travel. Just a few years ago, one couldn''t have all of that. It was either inexpensive and economical OR roomy and comfortable. The new Altima has changed all of that. For a $20,000 automobile ( I have the 2.5 S with the automatic), interior room and truck space is remarkable. The exterior design is the nicest this side of the Atlantic. People stare at this car all of the time. A day doesn''t go by that someone doesn''t ask me about my Altima or make a comment on its appearance. It certainly looks and feels more like the $30,000+ cars I''ve owned in the past than a $20,000 car. I have the silver and absolutely love it. It is the first time I''ve strayed from blue or red. The 2.5 liter 4 cyclinder (175 HP), even with the automatic, is surprisingly quick especially when you use the sport shift option and shift it youself. I''m sure the 5 speed would add even more ooomph. Add the V-6 and this car is a real sleeper in the performance category. Handling is very good considering the stock 16" all season radials. It''s certainly not the fastest or the best handling car I''ve owned, but it surprised me the first time I drove it. All I can say is this is the first "foreign" nameplate I''ve owned and it has impressed me in the 5 months I''ve owned it. If you are looking for drop-dead good looks, good to excellent performance (depending on drive-trane options), tons of room (6+ footer fit easily in the rear seat), comfort, 30 MPG, and you want all of this without sticker shock, the Altima is the best auto on the market. Highly recommended.

Strength:

Picks up real fast for a automatic 4 cyl. leather wood look on the dash standard stereo with cd is great great deal for the money

Weakness:

paint comes off easy not many mods for a 99 altima automatic

Hell of a car for a family sedan. Even the automatic trans picks up quick off the line. The leather interior and nice sound system make it feel more expensive then it actually is. wouldnt know if it was a 4 banger unless they told you. The alloys it comes with are nice and it''s a smooth ride.

Strength:

-Reliability. -Leather model and GLE package is nice enough for me.

Weakness:

-Soft suspension in the GLE of this ''''''''98 year.(the only complaint).

Rhodes, again. Correction on my MPG calculations from previous review: I had said I got 17 MPG in the hilly city driving of Pittsburgh, PA, and 20 MPG in the flat lands of Florida. Sorry, I get 19-20 MPG in the hilly city driving of Pittsburgh , and I got 22-23 MPG in the flat land city driving of Florida. I am not a lead foot driver, but I like to use power when I need it. Will probably get a V6 next time, but for now I will keep this car for a while. 26 MPG Highway driving. (Go Steelers!!!)

Model Reviewed: Nissan Altima

Strength:

A lot of thought went into this car, especially in the sports department. I have the automatic 3.5, and the car responds immediately once I push the pedal. Even with the automatic, acceleration if exhilarating and fun. The 17 inch tires add extra grip that makes cornering fun. Torque steer is evident, but it can be handled. I have heard complaints about the noise level of the car being high, but I have to disagree. I test drove a Camry, and the Altima comes very close to the low noise level of the Camry. Another thing, the looks of the car are just eye catching. And yes, I catch people staring at the car. The two chrome muffler tails in the 3.5 is a nice thoughtful touch. Breaking is very good and the interior has a European feel to it. Interior volume is just fantastic and the seats I believe are very comfortable. I have driven this car for three months now and I still cant get my smile off my face. Its just a fun car to drive, and not like the stagnant Camry or Accord. I''ll leave those cars for my grandpa for right now. Performance and fun far outrival the Camry and Accord, and dare I say even American cars like the Intrepid, Grand Am, Grand Prix, and some sports

Weakness:

Now for the weaknesses, which I believe Nissan will have to correct if they want me to rebuy another one of their cars. For right now, the strengths of the Altima outweigh the weaknesses because the strengths are just plain a work of art. But some of the weaknesses can be okay and nothing to get worried about like the large latches in the back trunk. I say so what! The trunk is still very large! Everyone is right when they say the interior plastic looks cheap but also not well built together. There is no question the Camry and Accord are more refined than the new Altima in this department. The Altima is also missing a small trash component that needs to be put in the front. Nissan puts a nice component for sunglasses at the front, yet it doesnet put a practical coin slot component somewhere in front of the gear changer for loose change. These are just thoughtful touches. And yes, the sportiness of the car attracted me, but also as a sedan buyer I also expect comfort and thoughtfulness in the car. The buttons on the wheel is thoughtful, yet Nissan did not put a light on them for night time viewing. The trunk opening on the side is very convenient and nice, yet Nissan pu

Nissan has really done its homework when revising the 2002 Altima. I backed out of a deal for a 2001 Camry because I thought the design was too ugly, despite the stellar reputation for quality from Toyota. I know, because I currently own a Toyota Corolla. But I was in the market for some type of performance, and the Altima was it.

Model Reviewed: Altima 2.5S

Strength:

This is a darn good looking vehicle. The best time in the car is at the redlight watching peoples reaction when they see the car (and you can tell it''s their first time because their mouth is open and then they try to read what model car is it). I''ve taken it on an hour and a half highway drive and it is one smooth ride. Verrrry roomy with head and more so importantly, leg room in the back.

Weakness:

Bit noisy, the cabin is not as quiet as I think it should be. The interior materials used are not the highest of quality.

I LOVE this car. I knew that I was going to buy a new car so I spent about two months looking at the various models, first checking out the web sites for different companies. After a lot of research I had narrowed my interest down to the Nissan Xterra and the Toyota Rav4. After much thought and a couple of days of test driving both I settled on the Xterra (or so I thought). I happened to notice the Altima the day that I was going to buy the Xterra and it was love at first site. The curves, the sheer volume of it, the back view, the front view, those lights:). I took it for a couple of spins and two days later I bought the Altima (5 speed of course). NO regrets.

Model Reviewed: /Altima GLE

Strength:

-Reliability, reliability, reliability. -I like moonroofs. -Has the Nissan legend of quality as far as maintainability, goes, and lives up to it.

Weakness:

-GLE has very soft suspension, get an SE, would be stiffer suspension. -front brake pad design and parts for it is teh worse, in an otherwise well-built car. -rear drum brakes.

I bought this used with 44K miles on it. I have put 11K miles since, making it 55K now. Reliability is the forte of this car. I also have sun/moon roof, and leather seats, CD & cassette player. Mileage in Pittsburgh sucks but Pittsburgh is a city built on up & down hills and it shows in the mileage. I get 17 MPG in city, 24 MPG on highway driving. Interesting because when I lived in Florida (pure flat land) before moving here I got 19-20 MPG city driving. This car is also automatic, throaty 2.4 liter 4 cylinder accounts for power when you need it but it seems a V6 would be more efficient since the city mileage is about the same as one would be. All and all, I see this to be a reliable car and in today''s age of money counting I would rather have the reliability. The new Altima designs (2001?) should be a big improvement for those who are fans of the Altima
