A great smooth ride and although it is a sedan it still produces sporty feel. Looks nice, but the trunk is like sawed off.

Strength:

Body style, powerful engine with a timing CHAIN, transmission. ergonomics.

Weakness:

There is a hole in the carpet for the fuel door that looks like they used an exacto knife. Thankfully I cannot see this while I am driving.

The 2002 altima is the best sporty family sedan on the market today for 20,000. I have the 2.5s model with the convenience package. It is roomy and can comfortably seat 5. I have two car seats in the back of mine. The gauges are easy to read and all controls easy to get to. The remote controls for the stereo and cruise on the steering wheel are fantastic. Auto transmission is smooth with a sporty gated shifter. The engine is very peppy with a 180 hp 4 cylinder. Trunk space is exceptional. Lots of storage space on the console too. I really like the 16" rims. The handling on this car is unbelieveable. Drive this car before you consider a Camry or a Honda.

Strength:

This car has good pick-up for a 4cyl. The manual tranny gets all it can out of the 150hp powerplant. The seats are sexy in leather and very comfortable. Haven''t taken an extremely long trip with it yet, so the jury is out on the long-term seat comfort. I have an aftermarket sound system (Poineer deck with JBL''s in the corners) and sounds good in the cabin. The styling is just fabulous. It looks very distinctive and even though I swore I would never get a white car, the Altima looks great in white. The sunroof is a great option and the heat works like a charm.

Weakness:

MPG, long shifter-throws, annoying sound from the clutch when in neutral and not engaged, wish I had cruise, hard to keep clean, no disc brake set-up in rear.

An absolute steal. Leather, spoiler, sunroof, great stereo, 5-spd, power windows..etc....This car handles like a dream in Minneapolis traffic and windy roads in northern Minnesota. I can''t wait to try it out in the winter in the Finger Lakes reigon of Upstate New York! The dealer was fantastic and helped me a great deal with financing. My salesman was great and I should know how good they can be; I used to sell Hondas at Fox Auto Mall in Auburn, NY.

Strength:

The biggest strength is the price ... other than that ... for get it!!

Weakness:

Horn, Ride, Interior, Body dents easily like it is made of same metal as a Pepsi can.

I totally hate this car!!! If it wasn''t a lease I would have gotten rid of it long ago. The inside is cheap looking it has a million blind spots. The horn, what horn, I can make more noise by sticking my head out the window. I thought it had a decent ride until I drove my sisters Honda Accord ... disappointed was an understatement. I will never in life get another Nissan Altima no matter what they offer as incentives.

Strength:

interior is great, lots of room and at the same time not huge and bulky looking. The Engine has never given me a problem it doesn''t need a lot of maintenance other than the 3,000 mile oil change that I seem to have done every 7 or 8,000 miles

Weakness:

The paint chips and peels, and there is a klicking noise under the dash board also child must have invented the front break system because I''ve had my break serviced so many times that I''ve lost count and they instantly still scrape and make awful noises. I''ve just grown to accept that it''s normal and that it''s never going to change. It seems like every Altima that pulls up next to me also have the case of the finger nails scraping the chalk board when the car stops. "I think I would feel safer by holes in the floor board of my car and using my feet to stop like Fred Flintstone.

I was looking for something that was sporty and something that was a good value. Nissan makes quality cars in some areas and other areas need more work.

2.4 litre 150 pony engine revs whenever i like to... will accellerate when i want to......will beat stock civics when i feel like it... Great milage with AC off. Turns at high speeds no problem for a sedan.........

Weakness:

With AC on the car slow as hell.....steering wheel feels very small...........honk noise is too low.........and hard to find it until i look at steering wheel.......and by then i honk i will feel like idiot........

Good front look, ugly back, nice interior with my top of the line GLE, reliable, no major fixup except battery replacement, best thing is no maintanance required! Sunroof seems stuck at times when really hot weather, windshield hud and speedometer not working when weather gets really really cold.......steering is offcenter........slightly to the right when not gripping on steering wheel, car audio speakers upfront not working sometimes.... But this could''ve all been MY problems, misuse, or just MY car''s like that.

Strength:

Engine, handling... everything related to the art of driving. Technological applications.

Weakness:

Interior, build quality.

I did not expect the new Altima to be this good in terms of handling and overall driving pleasure. The dashboard styling makes you feel as if you''re cruising on a European car. The handling is great, period. Certainly above the rest of the competition including the new V6 Camry XLE. After driving this car, the Camry really feels like it belongs to the 40 year old groups. The V6 Accord has much better interior and good handling as well but they''re going to replace the model next year with a 240HP contender. My biggest gripe and what I consider to be a fatal flaw with the Altima is the cheap interior. Uneven molding on the plastic and low class leather seat... The hole on the carpet for the gas lever is beyond belief... it''s an outrage. You won''t see that in even the cheapest cars. Maybe in American brands but Japanese? Sure, you could say, who cares about the interior, it''s a true driver''s car. The problem is, most racers would settle for a coupe instead. People who buy sedans tend to be a little more mature and have other priorities in life. Luxury comes to mind. So, what do we have here? I don''t think most people could shell out $27K for something that lacks refinement. You could spend a little more and get an Acura TL. Nissan''s reputation has went down so much throughout the year that the resale value would be lower than their competitors. Next year, the new Accord will boast the same HP and a variety of other improvements. So, if you''re still going to get the Altima, it makes sense to wait until the new Accord shows up which would prompt them to lower the prices even more.

Strength:

Quick. Styling. Interior is roomy and very comfortable. Head and tail lamps makes it look more expensive then it is. Dash set-up is perfectly placed for driver.

Weakness:

Good luck finding tires, odd ball size will make repalcement not awalk in the park. Chinsy door panels and carpiting. Good luck if you want to change the radio, looks like it was custom molded for this car.

I don''t know what Nissan does to their engines, but they do a damn good job. I bought the 4 cly. and it has more than enough power. 175hp and this thing wants to run. I have to fight keeping it from taking off on me. This car as great pick-up. Not just for a four, just in general. The styling is just amazing. Lexus style tail and head lamps and a nice roof line. Great interior. Absolutly melt into the seats.

Strength:

Looks, mileage and low maintenance.A Comfortable ride.

Weakness:

The exhaust shield is rotting away, even though I only have 45,000 miles and noticed that other 1994 models have same problem. Maybe a defect that I am not aware of. Looks like I''ll have to replace the whole systm. Also I don''t like the placement of the horn. Can''t find it when I need it.

Absolutely like this auto. Looks nice, rides well and paint job is great. Very good with mileage.
