Weakness:
SOME ROAD NOISE THE MAXIMA RIDE GREAT, BUT SOMETIMES MY SE GET A LITTLE ROUGH OVER THE BUMPY STUFF BUT OTHER THAN THOSE WEAKNESSES, THE MAXIMA IS GREAT, I RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE IN THE MARKET FOR A MID-SIZE SEDAN! THE MAXIMA IS A VERY DEPENDABLE CAR AS WELL AS VERY CAPABLE WHEN IT COMES TO THESE (LEXUS ES-300 ETC) NEAR LUXURY CARS! IT'S JUST A GREAT CAR! Strength:
Sound system excellent Speed excellent -if you're like me with a lead foot Handles the road very well
Weakness:
In the month that I had the car. I can't think of one not at all! I have a Mazda 929 which I absolutely hate.. brought it from an auction. its a 92. So its about 10 years old. Well I can't lie it has been good to me for over 2 years now.. But the parts on it are just too expensive and why put all that money into a 10 year old car.. But anyway to make a long story short. I was in an accident and had to put my car in the shop for about a month. Had to get a rental car which was a 2000 Maxima.. a baby blue color it was sooo pretty. It was so fast handles curbs excellent. I was luvin that gas pedal. Going up a hill and steep one at that. It went soooooo fast. A man in a pick up truck went on the shoulder of the road tryning to past me...but I put my foot on that gas pedal..i was gone. He couldn't even past me. If this was a base model with nothing really in it but a CD player. I wonder how the full loaded ones are with a really powerful engine.. WOW! I'm in the market for purchasing a new car now. I think i'm going to get a maxima. Dependable. That's all I can say! Similar Products Used: Toyota Camry Nissan Altima Chevy Impala-This car is veryyyyy fast. But in the long run something tells me everything won't be functioning in a few years. Cadilac STS-can't afford it..but its a drea |

Strength:
Brisk acceleration, looks very sexy, love the paint.
Weakness:
Premium unleaded, some road noise. Little scratches on the moonroof lip. Merlot GLE w/o Nav or Meridan Addition Love the brisk acceleration, however there is some wind noise, which is kind of annoying. The car handles well and has great value for the money. Strength:
Great quality car the interior looks new nothing is broken... Fast fun car to drive... Always starts...never any major repairs,, Like american poop...Never had a more reliable car.. I.. love the older model years 89' to 94' VERY SPORTY LOOKING
Weakness:
None I have had almost 8 repair free years..5w/no car pyment. I would get another in a heartbeat..If I didn't have 3 growing boys.. I have got to say I am really heartbroken my husband says this car has to go..it Is getting long on the tooth and he says it's unsafe.. My 3 boys are getting big and we need a vehicle with more room. (Noooo Please not another van???? Why I ask? This car a se loaded up with the leather and sunroof I puchased in 1995 w/ 63,000 miles .. It now has 170,000 miles.. I have to say in the seven years of ownership this car has been a godsend.. I have ONLY replaced 2 cracked rotor caps 1 set of brakes 1 complete.. muffler teflon pipe back,... let me think Am I leaving any maintenance stuff out. Oh yeah.. a battery and tires timing belt and alternator . And the required oil changes I was not always religious either,,, It now has lots of rust... My trunk won't open .. my fuel tank leaks... My clock fades , my led on bose radio fades...And the automatic shift is a little soft...but it runs and runs and does not burn a drop of oil.. .. I just might keep it for another 100,000 miles.the heck wiht the old man ... , GXE
Strength:
-Smooth and powerful engine (3L , 190HP) -Plenty of passenger and trunk space -Remote has a window opener(95' GXE) which is useful to let out hot air (in AZ!) and has a long range too -Has a timing chain and not a belt, which would cost you a lot to replace(in 60K/90K service). -Decent gas mileage (~23K, for an auto) - Looks very ordinary - not a cop magnet
Weakness:
-Paint gets chipped off quite easily on these older models -maybe the worst windshield glass ...seems to attract every object or insect in the highway. -does not handle sharp turns at higher speeds well..Rear tends to swerve a lot. - Looks quite ordinary - not a chic magnet -Any repairs are very expensive What can I say, I am having a love-hate relationship with the car. I bought this used at 58,000 miles. Its been over a year now(with 72,000 miles ) and I still love the power and smoothness of this car just as I did a year ago. But it has turned out to be more expensive to maintain then I imagined. a) My 60K service was $500+. b) Then the hood springs would not hold. Apparently they cost $200+ on each side or something, so I have not bothered to do that. c) The passenger window is stuck. The motor for that costs some $400 , so I have not bothered with that too. d) Mine is a GXE and so the regular radio volume knobs are screwed up. e) Yesterday, the air bag sign keeps flashing on my panel indicating malfunctioning of airbags. I am almost scared to take it to a dealer since they charge over $80 /hr even to look at it !! All this said, I still smile whenever I am in a highway/road and need to pass someone, coz the engine performance remains excellent. And my friends (most of them with brank new cars) feel its a lot smoother than their new cars ! These two factors alone, have influenced my ratings for this car. I just wish that my trips to the mechanics would stop else I would have to trade in this car for a new maxima. Similar Products Used: Honda 01 V6,Camry V6,Jetta V6,Mustang,Altima,Acura 3.2 TL. |

Weakness:
-In my case handling is very loose on SE (!) model This is my 4th Maxima in 8 years. Maximas are great value and fun to drive. However, this one in few month that I had it have me some problems. I bought SE model that should handle like a sports car, this one, however, swings left and right on flat road requiring me to constantly make corrections. It also pulls more in one direction. The dealer couldn't determine the cause of this behavior not acknowledged that it exists. They have simply performed alignment service 3 times already, after each attempt, the car drifts in a different direction. I do like the car, but if I can’t get this fixed, I’ll consider returning it to Nissan. Similar Products Used: -Camry -Avalon -Older Maximas |

Strength:
Motor is great! Rides beautiful.
Weakness:
Ugly body design. Weak transmission. Very thin base coat paint. Gas pedal and brake pedal too close to each other. Very Ugly looking car. Reminds me of when ford redesigned the 96 ford taurus. Nissan can do much better than this. Very weak transmission with only 32k miles on car. Paints tends to chip easily. Similar Products Used: 98 Honda Accord, Great car! No comparision. |

Paint chips easily on the hood and front bumper. Big deal So far, so good, I bought the car with 158,000 miles on it. My drive back home from the dealer was about 200 miles. Perfect ride home. Recently took a 150 mile trip there and back. Perfect ride. Basically I've driven it over 500 miles in about 2 weeks and it rides extrememly well. The Maxima is overall the best value you can get. Don't look anywhere else. The major reason why I got this car is because of it's realiablity. And it hasn't disappointed me so far. Don't get any American car, they are GARBAGE. I LOVE THIS CAR and you will too Similar Products Used: 91' Chevy Lumina, JUNK!! 2001 Nissan Altima, Nice too 1997 Infinity I30, GREAT, same as Maxima, |

Strength:
Loads of power Modern styling Great fuel mileage for a luxury sedan The car pampers you, and makes you wish the trip was longer.
Weakness:
Ride was a bit stiff at times on rough roads. Hood tended to lift and wobble a bit at 120 MPH+ I had to go on a 900-mile road trip from Idaho to Seattle and decided to rent a car instead of drive my `99 Ford F150 4wd pickup. The money I saved in gas paid for the rental of the Maxima, and I had MUCH more fun getting there! The Maxima SE I rented had the 240 hp 3.5 V6. The rental agent informed me that it required premium fuel, but that they never used premium, and that it would be fine with regular. For the first 300 miles, I got 27 mpg and the car struggled to hit 120 MPH on a long straight-stretch of road. I filled the tank with premium fuel, and the mpg rose to 30-32! I also hit 125 MPH with ease and had plenty of pedal left, but ran out of road. I loved that car! Controls were easy to use, seats were comfy (but driver's seat lacked adj. lumbar support). I drove in all climates ranging from rural backroads to desert highways, to mountain passes, to city streets. The Maxima excelled in all areas. I turned the heads of Lexus and Benz drivers, and never felt inferior to any other car. Some young guy in a new Impala SS tried to race me on the interstate, but the Maxima easily pulled away.
