Strength:
engineering, Variable valve timing- 16 valve engine, ride, fuel econ. good high revving power
Weakness:
weak brakes, not much low end power I got this car to get through school without going broke. I can't say enough about how much this car gives for an econobox! Best engineered car I've owned. Tight chassis, no squeaks or rattles, great ride, exc. gas mileage, and it even has some gitupandgo if driven properly.(I researched and found a 1991 road test from car and driver, 0-60 mph in 8.4 sec 1/4 mile 16.7 @ 82mph) Not bad for a 1.6L 4cyl 5spd that gets 40 mpg! And with 200000Km to boot. A footnote, I've owned a Sweet 1968 Chevelle for 11 years (Just to show that I am not biased to import cars). Strength:
Great running, nice looking and comfortable.
Weakness:
Tires or wheels. Excessive wear. Great running car. Comforatble and roomy for a mid sized compact. One problem I have with this car and the 1999 I had is the tires wear thru on the inside in less than 8000 miles and have to be replaced. I have followed all the recomendations yet still have excessive wear and find it to be an inconvenience and an above average expense replacing tires this often. Sentra GXE
Strength:
Economy, size, flawless mechanical character and a degree of comfort in a small car.
Weakness:
This car was designed and built when Nissan had lost all touch with its customers. Its ugly ducking looks can be overlooked by its mechanical perfection. Bullet proof performer. This car was salvaged with minor front end damage and air bags deployed. It had 20k miles on it and purchase price includes repair in 1999. I have driven this vehicle 40k miles with ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM. My wife and I drive this car every day, and it went on a 3000 mile trip this summer. I just changed all the fluids and plugs, and it has performed flawlessly during our ownership. Average 29 mpg overall, humble little car that will surely go another 100k miles without problems. Strength:
as i said before this is a nice little car for a frist time driver. its dependable and gets excellent gas mileage.
Weakness:
the car could have a little bit more horsepower adn a little bit bigger of an engine but its a decent engine for the car its in this is a nice little car fro a first time driver such as myself. The power is a little disappointing especially with a lot of weight in the car but then again its a small engine. I had to have the back window seal replaced due to a minro leak and i installed a new cd changer to replace the old facory radio which was a little messed up. Also my passenger side front window jitters when i press the button to roll it down, i think ill have to replace the motor soon(if anyone knows of an approximate price for this job email me). |

Nissan Sentra SE-R
Strength:
Acceleration, handling, braking, comfort, Rockford-Fosgate sound system.
Weakness:
Maybe the bland interior on the base SE-R model but it really doesn't matter with all the other niceties. A fantastic little car for the money; great acceleration/torque, steering/handling and a fantastic Rockford-Fosgate sound system designed specifically for the car. The 2.5 liter Altima engine produces a class leading 165 horse power and 175 foot pounds fo torque over a wide range. The suspension is top notch with McPherson struts and a strut tower brace up front; large front and rear anti-sway bars and a multi-link beam suspension in the rea which all work great together. Fantastic braking comes from four wheel discs with four wheel, four channel optional anti-lock brake system and very large, eleven inch vented discs in the front. Steering is well balanced and weighted and the Rockford-Fosgate system includes a 300 watt amplifier, 9-speakers with fantastic tweeters and a large, rear-firing boxed subwoofer in the trunk. The car includes a Skyline-type front fascia with large mesh intakes, lowering side moldings, rear spoiler, dual chrome exhaust tips and great looking SE-R badging. Strength:
great mileage
Weakness:
high cost in repairs I Bought my Sentra at a dealer with 21K miles. I've been very pleased with the car. It doesn't burn oil, it started every day. The gas mileage is excellent... BUT at 105K miles, I need to replace the Timing Chain. A cost of $2000.00. Parts and labor included. All in all, this has been a great, until the repairs. I also had to replace the clutch. I'm not sure I would ever buy another Nissan Sentra. They claim the timing chains, opposed to belts, are made to last longer. Not in my case. The repairs cost more than the value of the vehicle. This Nissan was the first car I bought myself, and it is a great buy! It runs flawlessly, gets great gas mileage, and looks cool. It has been extremely reliable at around 90,000 miles and I know it will last me for the next several years. A great investment! |

GeeKay
Strength:
Dependable, very solid on the road, peppy enough for a small, low-priced car. Virtually trouble free, although now more than 10 years old. Has a nice sedate, distinguished small-car appearance. Bottom line: the car seems solidly built, is economical and has always run well.
Weakness:
Window de-foggers are very poor, ride can be a bit rough, driver's seat quite uncomfortable on long tours. Sometimes hard to find reverse. Purchased used ($Cdn), but had been well-maintained with 110,000K on it - a very no-frills Sentra, standard transmission, no AC, no power extras, etc. Drove it for 3 and one-half years, including several very long trips. Now has almost 200,000K and it's showing its age, but still runs very reliably, every single day. Other than some brake work (twice), exhaust work (once), one major tune-up and regular oil changes, this has been a very low cost car, maintenance-wise... perhaps the best 'well-used' used car we've owned... but I'm really looking forward to picking up my new ECHO next week! 2.0l engine 5spd~plenty of pull Custom Front seats for SE-R~ Wrap around you like a glove~ cozy cockpit.
Weakness:
car loses all its power once you hit the ac (could be my car, but i have to turn off the ac to merge). More than 2 is A crowd and five is unbearable. The car seems to "roll" on it's door handles as you take tight turns, now you either love this or hate it, i like it, but most people i've spoken to don't so i put it here. 1st gear is slow off the line if you are racing, this can be fixed easily by shifting to second almost imeadeatly after taking off and then holding second out longer (say 6,000rpm at Most). This car is truly amazing i must say. I currently have 199,795 miles and it's still going strong. It was just supposed to be temporary til i got enough money together for another car but i'm going to keep this one instead. i've put very minimal work into this car so far but i love it so much that i'm thinking of fixing it up. It does need alot of work cosmeticly and it has developed and exhaust leak just after the cat, but i'm hooking the car up anyway so wahat the hell. The one thing i can say, Run synthetic oil, mobile one if you can afford it, and choose an oil filter that holds oil to eliminate dry starts.
