Strength:

Comfortable Great MPG Good Handling Inexpensive to insure

Weakness:

unreliable weak acceleration (as on many 4cyl) bad for hills expensive repairs

I expected this car to have incredible reliability as I have read in many places. I bought this car with about 58,000 miles on it a year a go and sold it with 77,000 on it. It drove for a few months and then the alternator died and had to have that replaced ($400) then the starter went ($400) then the transmission went and it had to be rebuilt ($1600) then the alternator got disconnected some how and that was easily fixed. Then the transmission went again but this time it was only the governor and was covered under warrantee. The guy I bought it off of was a good friend of mine and he treated the car like a pet and got all the regular maintenance done at his local dealership. I expected this car to last FOREVER. I sold the car in august of 2002 which was about a year after I bought it. The car struggled to accelerate and get up hills. I’m sure the 5-speed version would have been more fun to drive and zippier. I don’t think I’ll ever buy a Nissan again despite the very reliable reputation. The car cost me about $3500 in one year to own. It was GREAT on gas however. It handled well and had responsive steering. The interior was comfortable and all the controls were easy to use. It looked kinda cool for a economy car. The trunk leaked water if you washed it or it rained. Not a terrible car but WAY too many repairs for as well as it was treated. $3500 in repairs for a year is far too much for this car. I think I had a lemon and it’s not the norm for Sentra owners. I don't think I'd recommend this car to anyone simply because of my bad experiences with it, but I think that my car was an exception to the rule and was a lemon.

Strength:

2.5 litre Altima engine, 165 hp and great 175 lb.ft. torque, great handling with beefier anti-sway bars, 16 in wheels, strut tower brace, speed senstive steering.

Weakness:

Would have liked a darker interior and an SE-R emblem on dash but otherwise car has no weaknesses only strenghts so far.

Awesome power, awesome handling for a car in this price range; pretty decent looks, great front facia; incredible Rockford-Fosgate 9-speaker system and 6 CD changer. Love the little pocket rocket; can't stop wanting to drive it or looking out the window at it.

Strength:

Tons of trunk space for amps and subwoofers. Everyone and their mom doesn't have one (look at how many Mustangs are out there). Front end is very neat looking. Great power, but had to add the cold air intake.

Weakness:

Very little leg room for back seat passengers.

This car is so cool. It's got a sporty interior that takes some getting used to, but those front seats are so comfy. It's got great shiznit that came stock: 17 in wheels, 180 hp, rally style look, and about four different compartments for all my junk. And the color "vibrant blue" is just too awesome. One of the best things about this car is that it only comes with a 6 speed manual trans, I have yet to see a girl other than myself driving one.

Cup Holder. Can't put the 7-11 big-culp in it. Have to hold it by hand all the time.

Very good car. The GXE package makes it even better. Perfect in gas, and pretty good horse power for the car with 1.8L engin.

Small trunk Cupholders in bad location Weak engine

I have had this car for about a year now. I have not had any problems with this car yet, except that the I have to fix the air conditioning now. I brought the car used with 50,000 miles on it. It has all the features you could want. It runs pretty well. I think the engine is somewhat weak. I sometimes feel it dragging on the highway. It is great on gas. I can take a five hour drive and still have a quarter of a tank left. The truck is way TOO SMALL THOUGH. It is ridiculous. You can bearly fit one suitcase in it. Also the cupholders are in a bad spot. They block the radio when cups are placed in it. I also find that the brakes last for a great while with no problems.

Strength:

Good performance. Big trunk. Folded back seat.

Weakness:

Breaks, especially break rottors.

I consider it a very good car for the money. However I had my front rotors cut when reached 18k miles, and recently I they had to replace them (only 8k miles after the cut).!!!IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE WITH SIMILLAR PROBLEMS??? Looks like, for the first time in my driving experience breakpads overlasted break rotors - very strange. Other than that, I've had a very good experienced witht this car. It's got enough room for five midsize people to travel comfortably even long distances. It's 4cyl 1.8 engine produces enough power to dirve uphill in fifth gear (I have 5-speed manual trans). The noise in the cabin at 75-85 m/h is at the avarage level. I wish it came with better tires than standard 14/195 (breaking at wet surface can be very tricky). Suspension is OK for this type of car, and acceleration (torque) is good if you hit above 2500 RPM, best at 4500 RPM. Very good gas milage (around 38 miles on highway, 30 in the city). The trunk is huge (for this class of a car) I couldn't believe how much stuff I can get inside it untill I tried.

DAMN that change tray that falls out every time!!!!!!! Gutless/No Power!!

Owned this tin can for 11 months now and its falling apart. 4 mice chasing a block of cheese could out power the Sentra. Tires are cheap, no room in the back, ride is anything buy smooth, and the seats cram your wallet right up your rear.

1.Handles just fine 2. Nice gas mileage on long trips 3. good spunk for a four banger 4. fairly large trunk for the size of the car 5. Interior has plenty of storage 6. great car for $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Weakness:

1. Stereo (In need of third deck withing 10 months) 1. Replacement of radio under warranty(takes almost 2 months to get a new radio sent out) 2. the speakers 3. very cheap fastners and plastic screws holding door and truck trim ANY BODY ELSE OUT THERE HAVING AS MUCH TROUBLE WITH THEIR RADIO IN THERE SENTRA??

Good Car for the money. Everything is great except the radio is a piece of junk. I am on my second deck already heading for the third one because I went over a bump and my dealer said the deck is blown again. Don't buy a Sentra without the special audio package that includes a stronger and better radio.

Strength:

Engine; Seats (how they feel, not how they look); Steering Wheel; Handling; Rims; Trunk Space; 4-door practicality; Visibility; and it just makes you want to go fast!

Weakness:

The stock stereo SUCKS!!!; A better feeling transmission; An interior that doesn't look quite so ECONOMY (my Celica made me feel like I was in a fighter cockpit).

I used to have a 94' Toyota Celica ST. The engine was really weak (1.8l 4 cyl), and the 4-speed automatic only exacerbated that weakness, but the car handled really well, it looked great lowered (and with 17in rims), and it was the first car that I owned that only required me to simply add gas and drive it. But, after three years of satisfied ownership, I found that required more power. I researched a bunch of cars: I really wanted a WRX, but it was just too ugly; Toyota’s new Celica is uglier than the WRX and no where near as powerful; the RSX was too small and looks like a modified Civic; the Tiburon was great looking, but I heard that they were mechanical nightmares, it's a Hyundai, and Korean, so I had to say no; the Mustang had the power I wanted but it was American (I refuse to buy American due to past experiences), a Ford, and EVERYWHERE, so I couldn't convince myself to buy one. And then, by chance, I saw an add for the Sentra SE-R Spec V. I hadn't even considered a Nissan until then. When I test-drove it I was sold. It has a great deal of usable power, a 6-Speed manual transmission, the handling is better than my old, the interior is very well laid out, I can live with the styling, it has a huge trunk, and the price was just too good to pass up. I have beat the piss out of this car (accelerating repeatedly into the 6200 RPM rev-limited cut off [which is a jarring experience], taken on-ramps at speeds between 70mph to 100mph, and dropped the clutch at some very high-speed RPM's [and managed to chirp the tires in third gear]) and it just keeps on ticking. I'm quite satisfied and would suggest it to anyone.

Strength:

The sport seats can support hours of tireless driving. The four disc brakes stop like a dream. The insurance is low. The fuel milage is great considering the power. The engine has a timing chain instead of a belt. The car looks nice, and the doors shut very tight. Also, I like the leather-wrapped steering wheel and titanimum gauges.

Weakness:

I would prefer a tighter shift pattern on the 5-speed. I did not want a spoiler, but it came in the package that had other things I wanted. The tires are cheap, but most new Japanese cars come with cheap tires. I took it to a remote desert to 100 + MPH to test the top speed, and does not handle as well as it should considering the claims of the suspension.

I bought this car new ten months ago, and have put 10,000 miles on it. I have a 5-speed manual and the performance package with the 2.0 -145 horse power engine. It performs well when the engine is revved high, but lacks low rpm torque. At the time this car was a great choice. However, now the Altima has been redisgned (big price jump however), and many car makers have lowered their prices because of slow sales after the 9/11 tragedy. I did however manage to get 4.9% interest on a 3 year loan, and $2100 dollars off MSRP with the help of two rebates. I average 27 MPG in town, and get 35 on trips.
