Sentra SE w/perf.pkg
Strength:
Must DRIVE!!!! Great powertrain. Excellent brakes. Sedate styling. Steel timing chain!! Exceptional car through out.
Weakness:
Smallish rear seat. Smallish trunk (wish they had a wagon version). Only black interior w/perf.pkg.(very warm with black car and interior on hot sunny days). Firestone tires are loud and wear fast.Only manufacturer available in 195/55/16? A certain must drive!!I looked long and hard for a replacement for my ''90 Legend L coupe 5spd. I first wanted a ''00 Maxima, but after searching high and low for one in my price range the sales guy asked if I have driven a new Sentra SE yet. I took him up on the offer and haven''t looked back yet. The Protege5 was also high on my list as was the Ford Focus but they lacked the feel and quality of the Sentra. I love the SR20DE engine and have heard nothing but praise from the automotive world. At 145hp nothing else comes close in its class! The car looks great and drives perfect for the enthusiast. I opted for the automatic due to the daily traffic and so the girlfriend could enjoy it as well. The all wheel discs are excellent (best out there),the transmision is very smooooth, and the engine is near silent at 75mph. If anyone out there is looking for a reliable fun to drive car that won''t break the bank then look no further than the Sentra SE. Similar Products Used: Mazda Protege5, weak on power, very low availability w/options I wanted. Ford Focus ZTS, weak on power and price started to reach 19K with discs at all corners. |

Strength:
The strengths are the handling, style and interior and storage space. I wish I had gotten a sun roof :)
Weakness:
My major complaint is that the car puts off a rotten egg odor that comes inside the car. I have had it back to the dealership 5 times already and they still haven''t fixed it. They have told me that they can''t smell it. IT PUTS OFF THE ODOR EVERYTIME THAT YOU START THE CAR.....They reprogrammed the ECM and said that would work. I was informed that Nissan put out a bulletin on the smell and that to fix it you must reprogram the ECM. Is anyone else experiencing this sulfurish smell? If so please share with me....this is my only complaint. That and the service departments of Nissan. I think that the Sentra is very stylish. I love having a 4 door that still has a sporty look to it. It handles the road wonderfully. There are a few problems that is becoming hard to deal with though. Similar Products Used: 1985 Volvo, 1991 Subaru Loyale, 1996 Beretta, 1991 Galant, 1999 Ford Escort....all wonderful cars. Except for the infernal smell I love the Sentra more than any of these cars. |

Strength:
new 2.5 engine, great 6 speed tranny, excellent suspension set up, great in the corners, love the new body, esp in the spec v version,
Weakness:
not one! this "compact" car is one of the best ever made. totally out classes any thing thing that Generic Motors, the Fix Or Recall Daily company , and craplier..oops i mean chrysler, over all fit and feel is top notch, interior materials are top grade, love the new 2.5 engine, lots of power, a quick look at the new Stillen performance cataloge and you can have a 4 door car that lays the smack down on most so called "performance"cars.my first nissan was a 92 SE-R with a SR2ODET engine, that little turbo engine smoked alot of "pony cars" and other domestic ilk, along with a few surprised integra owners, nothing like the look in the eyes of a driver in a 5.slow mustang when you take off on them, nothing better! Similar Products Used: last car was a 98 civic LX, nice car, little low on the power scale, liked the subaru WRX, but local dealers wont deal on them, |

Sentra SE
Strength:
Handling, Seats, Sporty look, Stock sway bar, Stock performance exhaust, Nice gauges! Kick ass stereo, Quick and Nimble, big trunk, great brakes.
Weakness:
Gas gauge flucuation, Almost wrecked do to abs disfunction, should have better gas mileage for a 2.0 liter. 6"4 driver has trouble using brakes because of steering wheel. When I was looking for a car I had a hard time excepting the fact that I was going to have to buy a 4 banger. I did my research and I ended up purchasing the nissan. For the price you definitly get a lot of car for the money. The gear ratios in the transmission give a spunky jurk everytime you lightly press the gas. This gives you the subconcious feeling of have 200hp car. The car handles with ease and is very enthusatic around the turns. The road manners of this car are difinitly a plus when traveling in severe weather. 145hp seemed to be little underated because my friends cars all have more horsepowere in there cars, yet they have a tough time catching me. I feel like i''ve bought a winner that will serve me well until I can afford a M3. Similar Products Used: Nissan Altima, Infinti G20, Mitsubishi Diamante |

Sentra GXE
Strength:
Reliable - I KNOW this car will start, rain or shine. Value - so much for so little $.
Weakness:
trunk and rear seats need more space (but then again, it''s a compact car) 1.6L is weak, I really wanted the 2.0L Not as modder friendly as Hon-Duhs =( What a steal! I walked into a Toyota dealership looking a used car and ended up buying a Nissan. 1995 GXE loaded with everything except the SR20DE for only $4650 and 45,000 miles on it. Being my first car, I was a little worried about owning a pre-owned vehicle but after having it for over a year, I know this car was built to last. Similar Products Used: 1994 Nissan Quest - still running strong, but has little rattles here and there. 1985 Pontiac 6000 - crappiest car we''ve ever owned. died at less than 50,000 miles. WTH? |

Strength:
IRON TANK!!! You want to get somewhere, drive her and you would get there.
Weakness:
Ummmm.... didn''t have armor like a tank. My Sentra thought that it was something else, like a SUV, or a tank or something... because I tore it up. I bought it just because it was so cheap and I didn''t feel like putting a ton of miles on my Eclipse. Seriously, I drove that thing into a tree head on at 35 mph, friend cracked his head on the dash, had it towed to a garage, they replaced the radiator, pulled the front back out and I was good to go. You couldn''t run into a tree 150 times in a row and be able to drive a car as soon as I drove that sentra. Yeah... the tires were a little pigeon toed from that point on but that didn''t stop her. Living up in Northern WA state I would take her up in the mountains during the winter to go boarding. On my way up I would pass 4x4''s sliding off the side of the road. Heck, there were a couple of times that I literally stopped in the middle of the road, picked up some guys that came off the mountain and wanted a ride back up, and started right back up. My roommate and I tried our best to see how much she could give us. Front wheel drive on such a light car ROCKS. By the time I sold it for $100 you couldn''t unlock the drivers side door from the outside, you could unlock the passenger side door with anything that would fit into the key hole, the steering wheel compartment would start smoking when the blinker was on for more than 30 seconds, the heater DID NOT work, interior lights didn''t work, the cable that was attached to my transmission (showing rpm) acted like a drill and would bring transmission fluid in and leak onto the floor board, the odometer didn''t work, and the muffler would stay on when it felt like it. But she was still running like a champ with about 170,000. boy that car was the energizer bunny. Similar Products Used: I never drove anything as reliable as that car. Not one time did I get stranded on the side of the road because of something wrong with the car. :-) I had a problem here and there... but that isn''t |

Strength:
engine, steering, suspension, brakes, transmission, sleeper styling
Weakness:
sleeper styling- "hey babe, i drive a sports car...it''s a nissan sentra" I''m still trying to sell that to my fiance. What can I say about my SER? It is the greatest car ever made for the money. I bought it with 90000 miles in pristine shape. Slight modifications allow me to run door to door with 5.0 Mustangs (at least for a little while). I highly recommend that anyone who is looking at older used cars, check into a SER. You can''t beat the value of this all around affordable sporty car. For the price I paid, I stole it from this unknowing lady. She just thought she had a sentra with cruise, and abs, and stuff. She actually had the wrong exhaust system on it, she thought it had the 1.6 liter engine. Similar Products Used: VW GTI, Honda Civic. |

Nissan Senta SE 5 speed W/Performance Package.
Strength:
The 4-wheel disc brakes are absolutely awesome;they stop like an expensive car. Price is great with rebates and special financing. The front seats are superb. There is no timing belt to change. I like the limited slip differetial for added traction. Styling seems nicer than most cars including the Altima.
Weakness:
I would like the Sentra without the rear spoiler, but it came in the performance package that I wanted. The spoiler weighs the trunk down, patially blocks the rear view, and I think the Sentra''s look better without them. The larger engine has more horsepower, but lacks low rpm torque and eats a bit more fuel than the smaller one. (neutral compromise) This is a great car for the price. It costs about the same as comparably equipped Korean cars. Also, It has a better recent history and higher resale value. This car feels solid and has a firm ride. This car will drive at 100 mph with plenty of tachomoter left over. However, it seems to lack low rpm torque. Similar Products Used: Honda CRV. The CRV has more ground clearance, but costs around $4000-5000 more and costs much more to insure. Volkswagen Jetta was a good Deal in 1991 when I bought mine. However, Nissan has unbeatabl |
