My 15 year old Sentra has over 72,000 on it and has been very reliable over the years. My problem is that I want a new one and all I can find with a hatch are SUVs. A Suburu may be in my future-Outback or Forrester.

Wish the digital clock was separate from the radio (you have to touch a button to go back and forth from the station to the time).

My wife''s lease was up on her 98 Civic LX so we did our research and narrowed our choices to the Corolla, Civic, and Sentra (the most important thing she wanted was MORE POWER! The Corolla drove nice and had power but not enough standard toys and whissles. Once you added on the toys, the price was bogus. Most importantly, the inside looked plain and boring (like an rental car). The Civic is even more boring than her old one and the power only went up by 9 horses. Going to the EX, the price was too high and just not worth it. I then drove the Sentra GXE and SE and ended up buying the SE. This car has all the toys and POWER (all 145 horses)! It handles like a BMW and the four wheel disc brakes are wonderful! The inside was far from boring with the white sport gages, leather steering wheel, storage bin in dash, sunglass holder, map lights, 180 watt sound system, 6 CD changer, and sun roof (what other toys do you need?) What got me was the price. Maybe it was the end of the month, some sales quota problem, or just trying to make room for the 2002 so I haggled it for $15,400 that include those preprinted and annoying dealer fees, etc.... on the buy order. It was such a steel, we decided to buy it instead of leasing this time around. They even through in a factory spoiler that will be installed later this week. If you are looking to buy an 2001 SE, nows the time for bargains can be had!

Strength:

Fun, sporty, sunroof very quiet, good on gas, comfortable for driver and front passenger, good brakes, nice rims, handles well.

Weakness:

Tires aren''t so sweet, little legroom in the back, high reving on hwy, short gear ratio can result in 4th and 5th gear at relatively low speed, faulty brake seal (fluke??). Large cups in cupholder can block 1st 3rd and 5th gears.

Simply put, this is a fun car to drive. When compared to the competition I could nnot find a car I enjoyed driving as much. Get behind the wheel with the sunroof open and you forget you are driving a 4 door sedan. The 16 inch rims are great and the 4 wheel disc brakes (vented front) will bring you from 100kph - 0 in about 130 ft. One down side is the firehawk Firestone tires. I don''t like their performance. The seats are very comfortable but leather would be a great option. Acceleration is more than adequate for a small 4 banger and I am always pleasantly surprised at the pumps. One downside to this vehicle is its small gear ratio on the hwy. Around town it is quick, but I frequently find myself in 5th on city streets at 70kph. This is a problem when on the highway where 120kph takes you to 3400 RPM. I don''t think it''s bad for the car, just a little noisier than I would like. Regardless I have been very happy with the car and trhe dealership has been outstanding. I have had one problem with the car. The left rear brake started makeing some noise (faulty seal or something replaced under warranty). Just becareful if you take off in first, as you will quickly find the redline. I really love the car, but I am going to think of every damn annoying thing about the car in the weakness section just so everybody knows. Feel free to contact me to ask any questions about the car.

Strength:

Reliable, lots of pick-up for a car with about 100(if that much) horsepower, perfect snow car, never breaks down, comfy interior, no name sound system can bang it out, and it has only 42,000 miles on it( it was the last one off of the assembly line that year with the boxy shape)

Weakness:

Emergency brake is pretty much useless now, strange clicking and rattling noise in the front wheels-maybe something with the ball joints that were replaced recently, or the axle, or just wear & tear; the car did turn 11 in April! A little rust, and it's red-that means it's a police car magnet-not the best thing when you buck 88MPH on I-95

I've pretty much grown up with the car. My mother bought it when I was four. I've been studying cars ever since I came out, and I can safely say you can't go wrong with this. This isn't much of a family car, espically the 2 door models. This is a car for someone on a budget, a college student or someone still in high school, looking for something clean to push. Both my uncle and I are "autophiles". The other day we took the car to clean it up and give it a wax, and we hit near 100 on the highway. He knows cars more than himself, and he says that it is in great condition for it's age, with no reconditioning ever. Nissan-Datsun is a good company. Don't sleep on them(props to the new Sentras & all Maximas - fire!!:)

1989 Honda Accord- This car is quicker, and the steering, again, is more responsive (not saying the Sentra's steering sucks, cause it's great, BUT, compared to any Honda, you couldn't win with most brands on the road)
1995 Mercedes-Benz S420- DUOOOOOOYEEEE!! It's a Benz- no comparison!

328,000. miles on normal maintainence. Never had a tune up. replaced clutch once, and replaced starter....once! (that's it for major repairs)

Weakness:

I bought the two model instead of the 4-door (DOH!)

AKA "Da'Hooptie" 328,000. miles and still rollin'. Just got the 2001 Sentra SE, but I didn't have the heart to trade in "Da' Hooptie" So I'm using it to drive localcally. AC is history, stereo is history, Paint is history, CC is gone, BUT.........."I'M STILL ROLLIN'".
This is the best car.....ever!!!!!

I have photos of the car and the OD if ya' need proof.

These cars run forever. The mileage is great. I only have to put gas in it every 1-2 weeks. There is a lot of space in the trunk. My baby's carseat fits like a dream in the backseat.

Weakness:

The backseat does not have a lot leg room (not a problem for me). The cup holder does get in the way of using the stereo.

I LOVE this car! It is perfect for me. I am very petite (4'11") and so I often find it difficult to find a vehicle which is comfortable to drive. Also, my 5'10" husband has plenty of room when he drives it (which is often). My dad had his Nissan Sentra for about 17 years which was when it began giving out on him. When he finally got rid of it, I think I was more upset that he was. I preferred to drive his Sentra over my mom's Chevy Corsica and my sister's Cavilier.

Strength:

Great fuel Economy- 4SPD manual smokes almost any other car!!!Real tight gears! Absolutely nothing wrong with engine @ 220,000! Pretty tight handling. Good handling on ice and snow, too. Comfortable up front- great car for single person!

Weakness:

Driver window hard to roll.Recall on seatbelts (come undone easily!!) Heater starting to go, air blower works only on high. Alignment has to be constantly taken care of. Don't always feel too too safe hauling down the highway.

For the money you can shake a stick at it! Driven this car for 9 years and I will drive it until she croaks! Very economical car for anyone.I can probably get another 2 years out of her, too!

Strength:

Sound System: 180 watt, 7 speaker (including sub), regular CD player, additional IN-DASH six CD changer (you just pop the CD's in like quarters! They don't even have this in Lexus's!)

Exterior: Mini-Maxima Styling, 16" Alloy Six Spoke Wheels, Moonroof w/wind deflector, Spoiler (didn't really want it but it came w/ SE Performance package), Fog lights (same deal, but I think its cool anyway :), LOOK at the way the doors are made - the frame is streamlined like more expensive cars, then compare it to a Civic or Corolla and see how it just fits in like a puzzle piece (its cheaper, and it looks cheap).

Interior: Awesome Driver Display. You just have to see it, then see it again at night - too cool. Attention to detail in the shifter and all the buttons - looks like a BMW.

Safety: 4 Wheel DISC BRAKES - very rare in this class. Standard dual front AIRbags. We also go the ABS/Side Impact Airbag option (very reccomended at $600).

Strength: Much more powerful engine, at 145hp, when compared to 125hp Corrola and 127hp VTEC Civic. There's a reason this speedometer goes up to 140 and the other's don't.

Weakness:

Coin Holder: Its by the driver's left knee and its really hard to use.

Back Seat Leg Room: Compare it to the new Civic with a flat back floor, and the Sentra looks cramped.

This is a truly well built Japanese car. When you compare it to the other cars in its class that have the same level of fit and finish (ie Corolla, Civic), it blows them away in value. 2.0 liter engine is very responsive and the brake are good. We pretty much got every feature and it in no way feels like a compact car.

Strength:

good fuel economy, easy to work on during the rare occasions that the hood needs to be lifted
relatively comfortable rear seat and rear head room. We have had 3 trucks in the time we have
owned the nissan and by far the nissan is a quality built car that required nothing but routine
maintenence. We have had it 11 years and 105,000 miles and still going strong but the body is
sadly rusting away. Under the hood design is well thought out and easy to work on.

Weakness:

Noisy at highway speeds, paint looked great for about 5 years them it just started peeling off

This is certainly not a luxury car but it gets the job done nicely. We bought it stripped down
and added a passenger side mirror Dealer installed ac and dealer purchased rear speakers.
Very nice sounding speakers and ac works well today after a recharge

One bad mammar jammar. Very nice erogonomics on the inside. Gages are easy to read, and the tilt steering allows drivers of various heights to view the speedometer and fuel guages. Radio Controls are easy to use. Exterior styling is unique, and looks even better with after market hardware.
