SE w/perf. pkg. (5 spd)
Strength:
INTERIOR: Great quality color, plastics, switchgear.Lot's of storage space. Good outward visibility. Maxima-like leather wrapped steering wheel and shifter. 8- way adj. drivers seat. 180 w cd stereo w/ sub woofer. Plenty of head room w/o sunroof. EXTERIOR: While most magazines find it about the only major flaw w/ the car, I find it a strong suit. I like the understated design and think it is quite handsome and tidy. The Focus is over-styled for my tastes! PERFORMANCE: This is the best part of the car and the main reason I bought it. The SR20DE engine has been re-done for 2000. It's engine internals have been lightened for smoother operation. It shows. This engine revs very smoothly and has a pleasant growl to it. You will hit the rev limiter before you notice any courseness. The engine has very good low end torque. I am an autocroosser and this is much more preferred over high end HP. The Stage II suspension is actually very firm for a car in this class. Body roll is not noticable which was surprising to me in a car this tall. It has a rear anti-sway bar, but I still have yet to find it!! The limited slip diff. is another strong point. It pulls very well out of corners. Nissan seems to be the only ones to like this feature on mass produced cars. Thank you, Nissan!
Weakness:
The car is on the heavy side at 2700 lbs. and it is too tall. Also, the redline is down to an all time low. The final drive has also been lowered. These two factors coupled w/ such a smooth engine means a lot of trips to the revlimiter! You really have to keep an eye on the tachometer. Since it is not an Audi or VW people won't think YOUR 4 doors are very cool. If you are looking for the highest performing 4-door sub compact for under $17,000, look no further. Sentra's have always been above average in reliability and I don't think that the new Sentra will be any different. Similar Products Used: Didn't drive anything else. Didn't need to!! |

Sentra 5spd.
Strength:
Decent power, nice ride, ultra-reliable, styling
Weakness:
Service at the dealer. They botched up two repair jobs on very important parts of the car. 1) side axel seal (not re-installed) 2) steering universal (not installed properly) I purchased the car for $4500 CDN including a 2 year 40k warranty on the powertrain. It had 129,000km on it then and had no huge problems in over three years operating. Sold it for $1000 in 98, so I haven't had the car for a while, but thought I'd put a review in on it anyway. Similar Products Used: 98 Accord Ex 4Dr, 96 Integra RS. It doesn't really compare to either of these vehicles, with the Accord being much bigger and the Integra much more sporty |

Strength:
Great acceleration (I like taking off at stoplights), good on gas and nice body style.
Weakness:
Factory stereo system was weak (but I replaced it...all Pioneer)and cup holder in the way of stereo tuning. Overall, I think the Sentra is a cool car. I only paid a litte over 8k for it and it runs beautifully. I got power locks and windows, zippy acceleration and a great looking car. But since I plan on keeping it a while, it's going to look even better with ground effects!! If you like a variety of options and a small but classy car, buy one!! Strength:
Looks are awesome for a compact! Handles great, Power is pretty good and sound system is great too.
Weakness:
Seat belts rattle Well I do love my car but Nissan has put a bad taste in my mouth because I waited 4 months for this car. I wanted the Avalanche white se performance pkg in 5 speed and sunroof. I just wish the dealer would have been more honest as to when the car would be in and not tell me what I wanted to hear. Nissan takes way too long when you order it. Anyway enough crying, I love this car and if you buy one you will too. It's just well made and you can't beat the price! MSRP 16996 and I paid 16088 which I am pretty happy with. Buy the car it's worth it! Similar Products Used: None |

nissan sentra
Strength:
The car is zippy with supreme handling. A rather boxy car but i like the design for the sole purpose of its application. I am customizing this car and there are many mods and aero kits for it. It is a rather simple car consisting of very few "nusenses." Besides me not knowing how to spell this is the best deal i have ever found for such a suprisingly high performance automobile in great condition!
Weakness:
i have yet to find anything i dont like about it I payed 350 dollars for this car and i highly recomend it to anybody looking for a reliable car. It may be older but it has alot of power and agility! I have never been more impressed with a car with the money paid and it has many paybacks Similar Products Used: i would compare this car to a BMW in style and performance however as far as interior styling is concerned i would say it is similar to a plymoth sundance or dodge shadow |

SE Silver w/ Performance Package (Auto.)
Strength:
I absolutely love this car! I just came out of a 1992 Nissan Sentra XE, and side by side the differences are incredible. It drives like a much more expensive car, suspension is great (Stage II), the auto trans. works quite admirably for the 2.0 145 hp. Lookswise, it cannot be beat, period. Everything else out there looks way too compact, and the Sentra just doesnt. It's never too boring, and never too quirky, like say the ford focus. The SE looks great, esp. with the dual chrome tailpipes, the spoiler (with performance package), and the 16 inch alloys. Actually i drove by other cars feeling much higher off the ground, and i like that a lot. It handles great around the corners, and accelerates even better. i haven't been really able to test out the engine yet because i want to break the engine in. The interior is incredible, looking and feeling much more expensive than i could've hoped for in a compact. The leather steering wheel is smooth and feels great on the road, the titanium gauges look great day or night. I esp. like the 8 way drivers seat and all the places to put your stuff. The stereo just plain blew me away, and i didn't expect factory speakers to sound that great. I also opted for the sunroof, a nice touch. Despite what some may say, i found the back spacious, my friends (some a foot taller than me) fit quite well. I actually used the fold down seats the first night i got it, my friends had to take their shoes off and throw them in the trunk, so it comes in handy. All things said and done, this car surpassed my greatest expectations. All of the materials used in both the exterior and interior are top notch, over all of the other small cars i tested. My friends were surprised even more, because they didn't think anything of a nissan sentra. Now, it's made a name for itself and i hope others explore it too.
Weakness:
nothing. I paid possibly the best price we could've gotten for this. See, nissan has been bumping up the invoice price, but keeping the sale price relatively the same. We didn't even have to haggle for this price, we just called the guy up, asked for the price, and it was given. Pretty good considering the list was 17,596 and we got 16,600. I would definately reccommend this car to everybody in the market for a sporty (un)compact car. It indeed defy compact thinking, like they say. Every single person i've shown this to absolutely loves it (one of my co-workers has an acura 3.2 TL and can't stop looking at my car). So, i've gotten no bad vibes, and only good ones. there you go. Similar Products Used: Used to drive a 1992 Sentra (nuff said). Test drove a Civic (looks never change, interior is not nearly as refined, and still doesn't perform as well), Corolla (much more expensive if you want the amenities, and still doesn't look or perform as well), Ford Focus (i don't see what the fuss is all about, this car is not that great, that and it has had 10 (or more?) recalls since it was introduced). |

Strength:
I love the smooth ride and easy handling. I drove it up to NJ about 3 weeks after I bought it and had an extremely smooth ride. I also like the radio. When you go from a car with no radio to a car with one, any radio is good. The a/c and heat also work great. My car came fully loaded with many extra perks, like alloy wheels.
Weakness:
I bought a black car which is an extremly hard color to keep clean. It also has really low pick up. Other then that is a great dependable car. I have also been told to buy foriegn when it comes to car and that is what I did. I got mine on special for about 12,000 brand new. I think this is a great car for anyone who is in college and still commutes home on the weekend. I love my car and am very glad that I bought it. I would highly recommend this car to anyone looking for a great starter car. I just wish I bought a different color. Similar Products Used: I test drove a Neon and I would not recommend that car to anyone. Before this car I drove an 82 Mercedes. I loved that car but going away to college meant it had to be retired. Buy the way an 82 Mercedes is a great car to buy your 16 year old daughter!:) |

I love this car! My heart is breaking cause my husband wants me to buy a new one. I comute about 500-800 miles a week, yep! Its been a charm.
Weakness:
Pick up is weak, but click overdrive and it helps. Seats could be firmer and radio is weak. I have put 265,000 hard miles on this baby and it has been low maintenece. I always have changed the oil between 3000-5000 miles. Just recently I have had to relace for the first time, power steering pump. I will buy a new one soon. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
i liked everything about my Sentra. It had excellent gas milage, low cost, great for first time buyer!!!
Weakness:
Transmission is horrible. everyone i have known that has had a Nissan says the only problems they have had w/their Nissan is the transmission. This is only one complaint, but a very expensive one. I have replaced the transmission 3x's. The dealership had to pay for the first time because it was still under warrantee. but even getting them to pay took so much effort, i will never buy a nissan again. In the long run, it cost a lot more to keep this car than i felt it should have. Great car, but make sure to get the extended warrantee!!! You'll be thankful later. Sentra GXE
Strength:
Quiet engine and good gas mileage; my car averaged 30 mpg with the 1.6L auto.
Weakness:
The 1.6L engine with automatic lacks low-end torque on hills and with full passengers, but I heard the newly redesigned Sentra (1.8L engine) doesn't have this problem. I brought this car mainly because of nissan's reliablity. My dad's 90 nissan pickup has over 140K miles on it and the engine still runs like new. If you are looking for a realible, low maintenance, compact transportation then the Sentra is for you. Similar Products Used: None |
