Nice compact car. Smooth ride, excellent Cruise Control, Air work great, lots of room for large people (like me 6'2"). My friend has one and he is 6'6" or so and he fits fine. Had enough power when you need it. All and all GREAT car, very smooth. Crunch Zone Worked Great! My Fiancé was driving and pulled out from a parking lot on a rural road to far and stuck the front of the car in the road and a LARGE truck came by at about 55-60 mph and took out the front. So now the car is totaled, after only 14 days, lucky me. She was perfectly fine, air bags did not go off and I have talked to a couple different people that said that is a good thing because the air bags often cause minor injuries. So the airbags won't go off in little fender benders.
Weakness:
Antenna Whistles in the wind. When the air control is put on blend for the face and feet and on anything about 2 it would whistles also. The dealer said that would be covered under warranty Loved the car, wanted to keep it a little longer then I did, now I don't think I am going to get here another one, but we loved it. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a compact car. Lots of room and very smooth. You can barely hear the engine running if you are standing right next to it. I got it for $13,800, but you can do better then that if you are good, a friend got his for $13,000. DON'T PAY THE $15,048. The dealer asks, always get it for less, they will go down. If they won't, go somewhere else. Similar Products Used: 1994 Geo Prism, 1992 Ford Taurus SHO, 1990 Geo Metro, 1989 Dodge Dynasty |

I was surprised at some of the previous reviews about the Nissan's lack of zip. I occasionally drive my mother's Ford Taurus and my Nissan blows it away. It is one of the reason's I bought the Nissan because it was fairly "zippy" for the price of course. Also I love the seats, very comfortable and it has been very reliable for me in the winter, no problems w/ start up in the cold (-10).
Weakness:
To be honest I really have no major complaints about my car. I have owned it since 96 with approx 17,000 miles and it currently has about 36,000 and the only major work I have had to do is the brakes, only about $300. I am having problems w/ the air, don't know what the problem is, could be the compressor (yikes) and I will be disappointed if that is the case. Seems to me like a lot of cars these days are having a/c problems though. I love my car. I would recommend the Sentra to anyone (I'm even trying to get my mid-size loving mother to try one!). I'm making my last payment on the car this month and of course this is when most people start looking for a new car. Not me. I'm very happy with it and intend to keep it for atleast a few more years until that new car bug grabs hold. If you're looking for a good small reliable car, give the Nissan a test drive. Strength:
cheap transportation but a notch above a Metro or Sprint.
Weakness:
Lacks power and the rear suspension not sturdy enough to handle passengers in the rear. It sags and bottoms out with 2 friends in the rear. With 3 it is a squeeze anyway inside and the suspension just crys mercy with a constant bottoming out and scrapes. Not a bad car, but not stellar either. You get what you pay for and this class of car is really just a notch up from basic transportation. I really dislike the suspension as I car pool with 3 other women. I carry 3 riders with me in my carpool. We rotate each week. Mine is the only car that can't handle the weight of 4 people on board. The other cars used in the carpool handle it fine (Camry, Mailbu, and older Tempo). It is strange that my car has a slight permanent sag in the rear even when nobody is in the car. It is like the springs have settled for good. It only sags maybe an inch or two but the difference is noticble if you look. We are not big women either if you are wondering- well one is. I am 117lbs, the others are about 165, 130, and the larger woman is 200. This car crys over this normal load! Similar Products Used: Honda Civic which could handle passenger loads better. |

Bought the SE 5 speed with 2.0 L engine. Great ride. Handles like a much more expensive car. Good power. Nice styling. Good stereo system. Loaded with features. Not much missing except for a tape deck.
Weakness:
Nothing. Have owned over 8 Nissans, and this is one of the best. Price can't be beat for cars with similar options and quality. Similar Products Used: Honda Civic is not as well appointed, and a hassle to purchase. |

Strength:
It is a very nice, cheap, cute car. With proper Preventive Maintenace they will last for eternity.
Weakness:
Auto Trans is weak, in retro shoulda bouth the Standard. A/C fritzed when I moved to Indy from Seattle, apparently manufacturer consistently does not provide a full supply of freon/pureon at build (per mech). Front Brakes replaced at 45,000 (90% worn) seems again to be a character flaw. Amazed at inability to handle winter, engine just can not turn over when it is cold, floods easily when below freeze. Handles superbly in snow however though rear wheel drive. If you are a PM freak, every 3000 miles and the like, this is a great car for you. The price is great for first timers and second car purchasers. If you are more like me and not attentive to the scheduled needs of your vehicle the Sentra will bite you in the butt at $500 a whack to make it feel better. When we damaged the front suspension in a little ice incident the damage was extensive, though reasonable at about $2000 OEM/dealer to fix and color match paint. I'd definitely buy another Nissan but I would upgrade to the Altima for the size. Similar Products Used: This is the second Sentra in 10 years I have owned, 1st was a 1991 E Model w/factory air. Also, a 92 VW Fox (Which is a very awesome car in itself). |

this car has fairly good gas mileage, it was my first car. great air conditioner.
Weakness:
this was my first car. i had it for 6 months before i got my '95 Ford Probe SE. i had tons of problems with it.it left me stranded when the alternator died, i had problems with the ignition,an oil leak, paint chipped easily, cheap plastic interior literally fell apart on me. door panels came off, window insulation seals fell off, the suspension is horrible and the car leans horribly on turns, my exhaust manifold died and i had to replace it. the factory speakers were horrible and i had to replace them. the acceleration was a joke, its incredibly noisy when you try to accelerate (even to get on a highway with a short on-ramp). i will never own another Nissan after this car. this is the only car that's ever left me stranded. I'll admit this was my first car and i was a a bit hard on it, but it literally fell apart on me.it's not reliable, the interior is cheap and ugly, the suspension is horrible, the ride was not smooth at all. this car accelerates incredibly slowly. if you want a cheap car that gets good gas mileage and you dont mind repairing it constantly or the awful ride, this car might be for you.if you still think you want one, get your head examined as well. reliable, decent milage, pretty basic model
Weakness:
Vinyl seats got really hot in a DC summer Well, I have to say that for 1500 bucks used with 75000 miles on it, this car did everything I asked it to do without complaint or major (>200$) repair...right up to the time the 3rd valve blew. So here I sit 5 yrs later with a 125000 mile car, (incl time on the autobahn), a 1000$ check from a guy who wants something to tinker with, and really fond memories of an excellent car. Definitely got my money's worth. Maybe little help to those looking for a late model car, but I had to sing it's praises. Similar Products Used: None |
