Strength:

Fast, takes corners like its job, doesnt peel out which gives it a better start, gets girls, gives excuses to not have to give people a ride with the little space it has in the back seat - Mu-haha

Weakness:

leaks oil out the valve cover, burns oil after running a very long time, transmission computer burnt up and got stuck in 2nd gear. lights dim, dome light doesnt work, manual sunroof, no room for tha subs/boxes

Fast as hell, i bought the car even thoug it was an automatic, it was my only choice and i didnt care much, but after i had it for awhile i loved it, even though i''d rather have a manual. i like racing people that think they can kick an autmatic''s ass, its fun to prove them wrong! im still in high school i think its a good highschool car, but easy to get into trouble with, but hey! who cares it has factory spoiler and body kit with hub caps that look good on it and not dorky

Strength:

Great handling, miliage great, Overall look of a sports car. Love the front seats they fit you like a glove. The console is easy to read. love that booster switch.

Weakness:

Hard on oil(problem with seals) , parts are expensive. no rear seating, electrical on headlights sticking again. body rust.

I purchased my little sports car back in Sept. of 91. She was hot off the line with exactly 300km on her. Automatic, White in color, its your bare bones basic nothing extra. Just the car I needed for a couple of years while my kids are small. Gee..almost 11 years later, both my kid are in high school, and we still have our laser. So over the years I added a few extras: sunroof, upgraded stereo, and added pinstripping to give it a bit of a boost. I''m the original owner of my laser, it''s a great little car. It looks sporty, and can keep up to some of the fast boys too. This car still gets 600km to a tank of gas. This car have been on a lot of road trips, its great on the highway, you have to watch your speed cause she like to go fast. I''ve had her running 120mph,with still more to go but I didnt push it. This car is great on handling and is low enough to cut corners with ease. Over the years, the following has been replaced: alternator, starter, radiator, timing belts, axles, tie rods, I know there are a few other little things. But overall this car had been great. The parts are a bit expensive, but if you have friends in auto parts business its not so bad.. The only serious problem would be the oil leaking. The laser are known for leaky seals and transmission slipping. I plan to replace the seals, and tweak the transmission this summer. Also give the old girl a new paint job. My daughter thinks I''m selling the car... Great 16th birthday present. She loves this car.

Model Reviewed: Laser RS 2.0 non turbo

Strength:

Quick, interior has comfortable feel, as long as it is a short drive! handles well, some slight body roll in hard cornering, I have fixed this with new Eibach springs and new shocks all the way around. If you add an exhaust system to this car it drastically improves sound and power. I have added Dynomax exhaust with a new factory manifold, as well as a tuneable muffler.

Weakness:

Needs TURBO!

Ok brand new this car might have been great, but now it is far from it. I have soaked way too much money into it to get my money back out. For example, ECU($200 out of junkyard), coil pack($175), 4 rotors and 4 sets of pads($200) etc.. When the car runs it is quick, but I wouldn''t tell anyone with a Camaro or Mustang that I would kick their ass! The syncronizers are worn out of the transaxles so that means replacing the tranny. It handles well at low speeds, but get it up over 120mph and it doesn''t handle at all! I have had it up to almost 140 before having to back out to avoid the local law enforcement! Lucky for me the ticket was only for 85 in a 65!

Very Good acceleration for Non-Turbo 2.0 litre automatic, especially with the power button. Nice strong stout look. Looks fast standing still.

Weakness:

none so far.

This car has been a dream to drive so far. Guy before me who owned it changed transmission so I haven''t had any problems with it. This car has scary acceleration, I wonder what the turbo model is like, I shudder at the thought of it. (:

Strength:

2.0 turbo it''s an adreneline rush when you hit the gas. very low maintenance. it''s only been in the garage twice in 7 years once for the clutch and once for oil seal.

Weakness:

Not alot of room you mine as well say it''s a two person car. kids can only fit in the back seat.

I love my laser. There''s not one around like it and i always get what a beautiful car even from the old folks. I''ve raced everything even the cops and beat every single one. She"s one of a kind. I''ve had it for 7 years and plan on passing it down to my son in 6 years. She"s my baby.

Model Reviewed: Plymouth Laser RS 2.0

Strength:

With the mods put on the car it is very fast and sounds good to. Even the stock laser is fast but I would suggest modifying it a little.

Weakness:

Like I said in the beginning. Most lasers will need a new timing belt and some minor tune up things.

This Car is great. I just got my license about 3 months ago, but I have had the car for about a year. I have been putting mods on it since I got it. When I first got it it needed some work. Most Lasers need to have the timing belt replaced and some other minor things checked. But after that was done I started to mod. it. The first thing I did to it was to get different Tires and rim, cause the stock 205/55 and hubcaps just wouldn’t cut it. So I bought a set of 205/45 tires and 16" primax 8 spoked rims. I painted the breaks red because the car is red. I put an arospeed tuned cat back exhaust system on it. I also put a high flow cat on it to. I replaced the manifold and the plug wires. I removed the air box and put a K&N filter on it with a metal tube for more air flow. It sounds great. I tinted the windows and put a sweat sound system in it. Hatchbacks work great for subs. Face them backwards to get the best bass. I have a set of 2" lowering springs coming from JC Witney and I am hopping to get a strut bar because with the torque the car puts out it like to twist the body and the right front tires spins.

Strength:

Fairly comfortable ride, decent speed for a four cylider fun to drive.

Weakness:

Expensive parts, can really feel bumps in the road, but mostly nobody knows how to fix them.

I bought this car in 1998. It ran pretty good except for the engine oil pressure would drop way down at idle. I could cruse with no problem at 105 MPH (also the fastest I dared to drive). The only problems I had were not with the car so much as the "mechanics" that worked on it. I had the transmission fluid changed and the idiot put in the filter with bolts that were too large causing damage to the tranny. I took it to this guy who still hasn''t fixed the transmission right after being to his shop twice and spending $3000 for him to "fix" it. I liked the car so much that prior to the transmission trouble I had a "rebuilt" engine put in by the ripoff artists at allied engines out of houston tx. This was my big mistake and ever since then the egine has not really even run add this to the transmission and i''m sorry i spent all this money on people who just made the problems worse. Recamendation: learn to do this work yourself. When the car was running right it was fun to drive. Now because of some idividuals the car is worth nothing.

Strength:

This car is still very modern and futuristic looking, even compared to the newer cars of today. It has great acceleration and power too. Its funny when some mustangs and corvettes think they can race me. The fastst i have brought my car up to is 110. I can go faster than that, but its not wise to race for so long on the highways around me with alot of cops and such... damn. My car is white with black trim and accents, I applied blue pinstrips to it and it gives my car a racing look, I spray painted my stock muffler chrome to give it a custom exhaust look and it works! Treat this car right and itll never let you down...stay on top of the maintanance that the manuels tell you to do.

Weakness:

Personally, i need some more power in my car. 92 horses isnt gonna cut it anymore. The top speed and scceleration is excellent, but driving this car is soo much fun im craving more. I cant critisize the cars condition when i got it so much, because you dont know how other people drove and took care of it. Anyway, i had to replace my alternator and starter back in september. My tranny went as well(problems due to the overdrive connection) in early october with 140,000 miles on it. My car burns a lot of oil as well. it dosent really smoke, but I have to keep on top of my oil changes and have to constantly check to se if everythings ok. The side moldings on the doors are rotting, i covered it up with black electrical tape and problem is solved. Besides these problems, i dont plan on getting rid of My Laser for a long time. When i do though, at least 4 of my frirnds are in line to buy it after me.

I love the look of my car, My car is going to be 11 years old and it still rocks! It has great styling and great power for a 4 cylinder. The sister cars of the Laser are the Eagle Talon and the Mitsubishi Eclipse. I had a choice between a 91 Eclipse and a 91 Laser and i stuck with the Laser. It was definatly alot cheaper and less expensive to maintain...its the goddam "brand name". I purchased this car with 137,000 miles on it back in March 2001, and as im writing this exactly a year later, i have 165,000 miles on it, and it still runs great. Im a college kid that commutes to back and forth, and between school and work and frienfds, i put a lot of miles on my car. Its insane. This car is well worth the purchase!
