My Laser has a 4 cyl. 1.8 liter engine with a 5 speed manual transmission. I think that it''s a great car. It handles nicely and it is very easy to maintain. It has a little over 173k miles on it and I still get as many as 38mpg highway and 28mpg in the city. I recommend the 90 to 94 Lasers to everyone.

Strength:

Great value and wonderful to drive!

Weakness:

I''ve been told the Flux Capasitor and Muffler Barings need repairing!

I purchased my Laser in the Summer of 1993, brand new! It now has only 76,000 miles on it. It has been a very reliable car throughout all of my moves. From around the town driving,to up and down the east coast a few times. I have kept up w/ the maintenance over the years, w/o any problems. Until last week, we thought the transmission was shot, its not! It just needed the neutral valve to be repaired! Its been a great car and will hopefully last us a while. But w/ the family is growing, its getting to be a tight squeeze. I''d definately reccomend the Lazer to future buyers!

Strength:

Small engine with plenty of power, great gas mileage, very reliable.

Weakness:

No back seat room for passengers.

I purchased my 1990 1.8L Laser used 7 years ago, it now has right at 250K miles on it, other then routine maint. and precautionery changing of timing belt the only parts to malfunction has been alternator around 100,000 and computer 240,000 which both were not that expensive to have replaced in my opinion. This has been the most reliable, fun to drive car with great gas mileage I have ever owned will keep driving it till it will not go anymore which I might add still runs great and is sharp looking with this many miles just is unbelievable how well my Laser has held up, still get offers from others wanting to buy it.

Strength:

Very quick, drives great!

Weakness:

no room in back, have put two alternators in it, other than that hardly any problems

Works out great for me being 17, gives me the looks and the speed that I need. A little bit of money goes a long way with this car. After seeing fast and furious, I have a great base car to play with

Strength:

Speed, Handling, Looks, Reliablity.

Weakness:

Electronical problems can be hard to fix.

It began as a first car to learn driving and using a manual, and has turned into an obsession. Many of my friends complain that their cars are not fast enough, mine is. Many of them complain, of the V8 owners, complain their's eats too much gas, mine doesn't. Many of them want a cooler look, I don't. I have 160,000 miles on mine WITH ALL FACTORY! I run mobil 1 tri synthetic and change it ever 3 even, and she loves me for it and I love her and feed her only premium 93 occtane. It is one of the best handling cars I have tried to drive, and one of the funnest.

ELECTRICAL!!!!! Keep an eye on your turbo...don't want to lose that.

Stock..car is fairly fast. Add air intake, cat-back exhaust, pullys, cam gears, NOS, turbo upgrade, and it's perfect.

Model Reviewed: plymouth laser rs 5 speed

Strength:

the speed, and the look, comfort is great

Weakness:

Brakes squeak in reverse, and that is embarrassing.

My laser is really nice and comfortable, but it squeaks in reverse when brakes are wet, and the cigarette lighter is in an uncomfortable position when I have my phone charger in it, and try to shift gears. I do think it is fast, and the 16 inch gold rims, and the green body color look good together.

Model Reviewed: Plymouth Laser rs turbo

Strength:

It is pretty fast, and you can add alot of things too make it look better.

Weakness:

When the breaks are wet and you back up, it squeaks. That sux. My airconditioner broke...it cost too much to run wires through to hook up speakers. The 6 by 9's were peices of s&^# and way too hard to replace.

I like the body style especially. The car has alot more pick up than I had expected. I think the interior is neat, small, but who cares? The seats are really comfortable (your a$$ won't hurt on road trips) I like that. I like the big tires too, it makes it different.

Before this, I drove a '88 4runner. That sux. My dad's 85 mercededes is nice... but I still love my car.

Model Reviewed: laser 1.8L 5spd.

Strength:

looks, lots of accesories, young chicks think its cool , good air condioning, nice radio (when it picks up a station), good gas milage
body parts are very easy to replace. (labor wise)
most any part off a eclipse will fit.

Weakness:

can be a pain in the a $ $ to work on . parts can be hard to find .
if you need a macanic it prob. wont be cheap.
it is small no matter how you look at it.
if you get in an accedent you may not make it..

ok i have had a few of the problems all of you have had and have fixed all mine so farr. my loud noise that sounds like an elephant when backing up was VERY worn rear brakes. i also had a sound that sounded like a leif off a tree was in my fan every so often when i accelerated and some other times when going up a hill (it didnt do it all the time). that was my catilitic converter on my exhaust the guy at the shop said it seemed fine but when i made him remove it the noise stoped. but anyway i like the car and for the money it seem pretty good. (the main reason i bought it was the working air and because it just looks cool)
i do wish i had a 2.0 turbo :(
P.S. i think it would look cool with green or blue reverse lights
