Everything This car model is a piece of crap, i would not recomend for anyone to buy this. Power locks keep going in and out, power windows slide off track constantly, when it rains, it also leaks in on the passanger side of my car- comes in somewhere through the dash, struts suck, alterater keeps going out, so therfore have to keep buying new batery, coolant leaks, yet no one can find out where, been through sever water pumps, shreaded belts, etc..... this car should not be bought by anyone. Strength:
Damn sharp car IMHO. Loaded for the price. Decent ride, decent handling, decent power. Nothing that sticks out, but for the price, hey, it's an awesome car.
Weakness:
Brakes don't stick at all. Heaven forbid I ever have to stop in a hurry someday. For the money you can't beat a Grand Am. You get a car loaded with bells & whistles, performance, and looks, all without the price tag. It's quickly becoming an "enthusiast" car too. It's gained a LOT of aftermarket ground in the last half a year. Similar Products Used: It's no luxary car, but it gets you around, and in style too. |

3.4l RAM AIR!!!!!!
Weakness:
Brakes I love my Grand AM GT well my mother (:. I love the pickup and handling. If you know how to use the 3.4L you can kill Honda Accords (the V6 vetec)probaly due to the 205foot pounds of low end torque. Just ease the gas down onece you hit 4000rpm put it all the way down trust me fast kick! Similar Products Used: SunfireGT |

Strength:
drive train is reliable and operates smoothly. interior layout and design is top notch. power ratio is good but could have easily been better.
Weakness:
extremely poor resale value. depreciation of this model in dollar value is horrible. high insurance cost. poor build quality, consisitant rattles and terrible ride over even the slightest bumps on roads. 170 hp for a 3.4l engine is to low for this day and age. no true mods. (mods are cams, headers, intakes, etc.) not generic logos and throttle sensors or the such. poor wet traction. and handling is sub-par but if you study the wheel base width you know why. I feel that after a year and 38k on the odometer. I have a the knowledge and honest opinion to state that this car is gaudy, reliable, no-thrills, no excitment, point a to b transportation with a tiny bit of spunk. spending countless days driving it around town and looking at it from every angle(thank god I managed to obtain a coupe with silver skin)it screams awkward and generic. you ever notice that in the commercials they nevr show the ugly beast straight from the side. and it is no wonder. even the beefier gt model still looks anemic and too shallow. I look forward to trading it in. and wish they would fire the employees that are responsible in the design department for there consistant funky(a***kian)creations. that overflow the pontiac line with way too much habitual fatty by product on thier vehicles. Grand AM SE 3100 V6
Strength:
Great Acceleration, Very Reliable, Looks Great, Pretty Comfy, and Its got a great stock sound system
Weakness:
A couple of squeaks in the car, but thats it... I've had this car for 6 years, and its got about 120,000 miles on it. It runs absolutely great. It's still very fast, and handles like a champ. Ive got the 3100 V6 in mine and its very quiet also. Ive got a few rattles in the dash but ive been told that all i need to do is get some spray to fix that little problem. I take many accords and civics and camrys in races and I almost always win. I also take mustangs and most of the time I win over them too. I need some new shocks, but that would be the first repair ever made to the car. Its an unbelievable car for the amount of money i paid for it. Only 16500. I was very hesitant on buying another Grand AM since my 1989 was absolutely the car from hell. I thought I was going to die of a heart attack because of all the f'ing problems i had with it. Its much faster than an accord V6 and its almost as quiet, and since i havent had any problems with it yet, its as reliable as an accord also. Its definitely worth the money. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW, AND I STILL LOVE IT AFTER 7 YEARS! HOW MANY CARS CAN YOU SAY THAT ABOUT? STILL LOOKS GREAT INSIDE AND OUT. MINOR REPAIRS. RELIABLE, COMFORTABLE, STYLISH.
Weakness:
SINCE THE PAST 2YEARS, THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT APPEARS FROM TIME TO TIME. THE DEALER CLAIMS THERE'S BUILDUP IN THE MANIFOLD LINE, SO I HAD TO GET IT BOILED OUT. A YEAR LATER THE LIGHT APPEARED AGAIN-SAME PROBLEM, SAME REPAIR. NOW, 3 MOS LATER, THE LIGHT APPEARED AGAIN, BUT I HAVEN'T HAD IT DIAGNOSED YET. ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS TROUBLE? TO DATE, THIS IS THE BEST CAR I HAVE OWNED.MANY FEATURES ARE STANDARD, SO YOU DON'T GET NICKELED AND DIMED TO DEATH.IT'S BEEN RELIABLE FOR EVERYDAY USE AS WELL AS TRIPS TO FLORIDA.AFTER 7 YEARS, IT STILL RUNS, SOUNDS, LOOKS GOOD INSIDE AND OUT. THE INTERIOR LOOKS GREAT AND IS VERY FUNCTIONAL AS WELL. FOR A CAR THAT HAS NEVER BEEN GARAGED, IT LOOKS AS GOOD AS THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. I HAVE RECOMMENDED THE GRAND AM SE TO EVERYONE I KNOW. Weakness:
valve tick is very annoying, expencive tires(on 16" rims),stock struts are worthless, power windows are slow an fall of track, paid too much, oil light comes on but the level is fine. Its a good car but ive had some recent problems with it. it is all stock besides a k&n filter and it can roast the tires for a week. warms up fast in the winter and has exclent heat. the back seat is a little small but what can you expect from a 2door. in 92 the made them with a 3.3 v6 which runs good but a little hard on gas. overall my pontiwreck is a good car but im trying to get rid of it for a truck Similar Products Used: 87 jeep cherokee with 240,000 miles??? hmm I'd go pontiac |
