Camry LE
Strength:
My beautiful, black, gold-package Camry has great gas mileage, handling, acceleration, sound system and trunk space. Lots of interior space and very comfortable. The black is just too gorgeous when its newly cleaned and waxed. I'm almost 50 and when I drive my Camry I feel 25. It looks good on me.
Weakness:
Paint chips and scratches easily. The black shows them most. I can't tell the 2000 from the 2001. Exterior design could be updated. The new-car price could come down a couple thousand. This 4-cyl gets up very nicely. I'm an agressive driver and this car takes instructions very well. It's lighter than a cadillac I've driven and not nearly as complicated. It's smoother, quieter and more stylish than the Ford I owned for 10 years. For the money, it's a good deal, but shop around first. Similar Products Used: Cadillac was heavy, computer system expensive to repair; Ford Tempo lasted 10 years; interior was a little smaller. Only needed brakes repaired 3 times. |

Camry LE
Strength:
Dependability, relatively quiet & comfortable ride, no rattles. Comfortable well-appointed interior. 4-cyl engine provides great mileage (24-25 in town; 30-32 highway)
Weakness:
brakes are soft when slowing from 45 mph+. 4-cyl engine a little sluggish when accelerating from dead stop. In first 24 hours, ignition lock failed. Dealer had car towed and repaired within 24 hours and reimbursed me for rental car. Now after nearly 3 years and 55,000 miles, the car has been nothing short of perfect. Between stop-and-go driving in town, and long trips to the mountains, the car has performed flawlessly. It's a plain "vanilla" car, but what the heck, you can't beat the dependability. Similar Products Used: Mazda 626 (not bad), Nissan Altima (a little small). |

/V6 XLE
Strength:
Very Powerful engine (if you opt for the v6 xle), nice ride, and smooth....Opt also for the TRD bodykit, and if bank account permits...go for the TRD supercharger!!!!
Weakness:
DARN...everyone has one..good thing is...this motivates everyone to have a camry to customize it... Best, I've ever had. Really...Been 135MPH on it and it was soooo smooth. Been to the shop for minor repairs, so this kind of scares me. But overall, I know Toyota reliability will back me up. A/c is super, braking is good, pickup is great, overtaking is cuuzin'. This car holds its value high for a LONG time, but its scarry, when you know 1million people are also selling their car (where they underprice your price), so thats where those custom rims' and that spoiler, color code mud guards, dual tone, tinted windowns, cd changer, dual power seats, PIAA h4's (superwhite), front end mask AND those regular oil change receipts will come handy when it time to sell this for a newer camry!!!! Similar Products Used: Lexus ES300, Ford Taurus (NO NO here)... |

VERY reliable. Excellent gas millage

There are so many of them in the parking lot it's hard to find yours! We currently have 3 camrys. A 1991, 1997, and a 2000. We had a 95 but we were involved in an accident in which the airbag saved my life. After the wreck we purchased our 2000 model and it is the best one yet. Similar Products Used: Ford Taurus. Transmition failed after 60000! Whats up with that!? |

Strength:
None that I could see. Just another boring, plain jane, overrated Japense car.I do not know what all the hype is about these Camrys.
Weakness:
Had to have 7 warranty repairs within the first 6 months. This was a 2000 model. V6 feels like a 4cyl and the car isn't very quite or smooth No doubt a decent car, but very plain and overpriced. I think it is now more of an instilled thought in peoples mind that only Japenese cars are good and that this Camry is great. Well, to me it is so boring and way too much plastic inside and lacking in power and style. Should have this in the price range its in - this car is more of an appliance than a car. Similar Products Used: I traded this car in on a new 2001 Olds Aurora and what a differce. The olds is luxury and sophistication at a good price. So much nicer than the Camry. And, so far it has not been back to the dealer. Have owned it for 8 months and 8,500 miles. |

Strength:
Fair gas mileage.
Weakness:
Power stearing Yoke seized at 57,000 miles. Car is unsafe to drive. The new part has been on order for 2 weeks and the Toyota dealer said that it will be another 2-3 weeks because of a parts shortage. Uncomfortable fornt seats. Bought brand new in March 1996. I have owned it for 5 years, 57000 miles. Similar Products Used: This is not as comfortable as my previous Oldsmobile. |

Strength:
Excellent quality, drives perfect even after 160,000. Low maintenance
Weakness:
Rear trunklight fogs up for some reason. Excellent car! I got a good deal on it because it was in an accident before and has high miles. The accident left the hood SLIGHTLY bent in the middle but no real damage at all, so much so I haven't even bothered to find out what it was. As far as maintenance, I haven't done anything to it, just oil changes (for the 8 months i've had it so far). It's got 160,000 miles on it and runs perrrrrrrrrrfect. Similar Products Used: None |

Weakness:
Here are the weaknesses: I had been shopping for a Camry for a month. I had a hard time picking out the colors, because unlike the Honda Accord, the colors are all ugly and they are old. Similar Products Used: Honda Accord - the Accord is more stylish and has more horsepower, but the road noise is very annoying. It's just as roomy though. |

V6 XLE
Strength:
V6 is not too bad for a family sedan. Features are nice in the XLE package. Everything is where it should be (easy to find while driving). Does not need too much maintenence.
Weakness:
Struts make a funny squishing sound(have since it was brand new). Windows are slow to roll up. Transmission is smooth, but could be smoother. Paint is easy to chip. The rubber seals around the doors squeak when you hit a bump in the road. There is not a whole lot of aftermarket stuff for this car like the Accord. Parts are way overpriced!!! Toyota wanted $1200 p&l for new struts.....got much better struts, lowering springs, and labor for $1100. Shop around! The dealer in Athens (Heyward Allen Toyota) has lied to me several times, is very slow getting work done, and I have to take the car back to get work redone on it every time. Overall I have enjoyed driving this car. I think that it is a good value. If you are going to spend this kind of money on a car, I would look into a used BMW. You get a car that is much more fun to drive. However, maintenence is expensive on the BMW. Similar Products Used: '90 Accord LX -this car can't even touch it. |

Strength:
This car is very, very reliable. I never had any problems with the engine, and I am not the best at timely oil changes and things.
Weakness:
One week after buying this car (1996) the transmission went out. Had to get one then and then another one in 1998. Other than that, I had a few problems with the brakes and rotors. The sound system could have been alot better. Overall, I would give it a 3 1/2 out of five. Similar Products Used: Geo Metro. Of course, no comparison. |
