Strength:

Strong, tight body with excellent fit-finish. Robust 2.5L engine, reasonalble 5-speed, good 4-wheel disks, comfortable seats. High-quality throughout. There are no squeaks, nothing leaks, motor is strong. Paint is just starting to go on part of the hood. Seats are fine, no wear, no rips.

Weakness:

Well it certainly doesn't corner like my 1965 Corvair Corsa did! And the styling can only be described as boring! The manual adjusting mirrors are a bit of a pain.

Has required minimal maintenance in 172K miles: new EGR valve under warranty, new front wheel bearings at 100K, new struts at 120K (I tried to save money and had Monroe's best put in. That was a mistake! Noisy, clunky), rebuilt alternator at 172K, plus brake pads and front brake rotors and the usual- one new battery (24F from Pep Boys - half the price of a Toyota battery)and three sets of tires. Incidentally, I went a size larger- to 205-50-15, on the tires. In summary, I love this car.

Strength:

Speakers are excellent for stock. The v6 has excellent power. I have
wasted cougars, accords, nissans, etc. None can compare. I have only been
lost to a Bmw. Very reliable.

Weakness:

The rear has a very non sporty look. The front isnt bad with some added
foglights. Looks can be deceiving though,
Very few weaknesses

Excellent car. Great for drag racing. Breaks are fine. Sharp turns
can be a bit of a hassle. Very much worth the money.

Strength:

Strong V6 (Real strong), quiet ride, Safely (I have side airbags) (the 98 Accord didn't).

Weakness:

Price, Handling

It's a good car, I have no problems with it and I have 33K on it. No shop time other than oil change. It's DEPENDABLE. The look has grown on me. I like the outside shape alot now. The driver's seat needs better lumbar support. (Fixed that with a back pillow $7 and the seats are great now!). The radio is average (In 98, no cheap 3in1 combos) There is a reason way this is the #1 sedan sold in USA.

Strength:

engine is good. very smooth and has power. transmission is smooth. comfortable with a smooth ride.

Weakness:

4 cylinder lacks power. v6 is only way to go.

this car is worth every penny. i got the xle with all options except gold, moonroof and upgraded stereo. 65,000 miles and no problems. i did install lowering springs, chrome 16" rims and low profile 205/55/16 tires. Car handles exceptional now and still rides smooth. installed $7000.00 upgraded stereo for competition purposes. i would have commented on the factory stereo but as you can tell i am extremely biased for good sound so it would not have been fair.

Strength:

Top notch build quality. The car was delivered with 0 defects. After 7 months I still haven't found one!
Plenty of power with the V6; the 4 cylibder I first test drove felt a bit weak.
Rear seat passengers have good leg room.
I really like the contemporary looks.
Stainless steel exhaust system.
Uses regular fuel (thank goodness)

Weakness:

Almost nothing...see below

My wife and I have been driving this Camry for about 7 months. So far everything works perfectly. Some people think the Camry looks bland. Well, I guess I like bland...No! I don't admit it's anyway ordinary! Camrys look good for decades.

This Camry is fully loaded. I love the sunroof, the automatic climate control, loads of power, predictable handling, ease of parking, nice audio, antenna in the glass, leather seating. A new Maxima would have been a wonderful vehicle, but for the same features, it cost about $5000 CDN more.

I added two dealer installed options: a spoiler, for a more distinctive look, and medium tinted windows for comfort (they really work...it gets quite hot during our Canadian summers).

A couple of TINY quibbles: the driver's power seat is only 4 way; it could use more adjustments of the seat cushion angle. Side airbags were not available on the 2000 Camry in Canada.

Based on my limited experience, everything I've read and comments from my friends, I believe this Camry will be great for many years.

If you need a minivan to haul huge objects and 7 passengers, go get one. If you desire a itty, bitty sporty car..look elsewhere. If you want a family car with superior quality and reliablilty, it would be harder to find a better choice than a Camry.

I traded in my 93 Maxima for the Camry, and I guess I was spoiled. This Maxima was a great car, and I was comparing everything against it. My new Camry is about the same size as the Maxima, and has even more features.
I also tested the Honda Accord. Here it was a toss up. Accord vs Camry...each had a few minor features the other didn't. I think the Accord would have been a good choice.
I also tested the Nissan Altima. Good size, price, power, but not as refined as Accord or Camry (I mentioned that I was spoiled by that wonderful maxima)

Model Reviewed: Camry LE

Strength:

* Low maintenance cost. Only change oil every six months, a tune up every 1 and 1/2 year or so, and other stuff people who own a car would do.
* Low profile look, but don't look cheap like those stupid, ugly looking American sedans.
* Roomy interior with lots of space even for 5 adults.

Weakness:

* Weak brake. If I need to make an energency stop and I am going only 35 to 40 mph, the brake would not stop the way I would like to. It slides for a few feet before if stops completely. Very dangerous if some fools pop up in front of your car while you need to stop completely, so you won't kill the suckers.
* They are everywhere.
* Eat up gas like Hannibal.
* The head light look dull. Toyota only recently did better head job on its 2001 Camry, unfortunately not my 96 Camry.

I like my Toyota Camry generally speaking, but not to the point that I am totally comfortable with it. The Honda Accord and Nissan Maxima are kool looking cars too. The Ford Taurus on the other hand looks like a freakin taxi. As a matter of fact, it's used as a sanitation patrol car here in New York. I bet you the Ford quality and reliability is nowhere near as compared to Toyota. The Taurus would probably take you to the shop once a month minimum and make your hair turn gray. Buy a real car like Toyota. Word!

Strength:

Good reliable car. Ride is decent and economy is great.

Weakness:

None for this class of car.

I have this car as a winter car. I have an Accura RL for summer. My wife has an Accord. She likes the Accord interior better. (more junk areas) I opted for the Camry because it is easier to get in and out for a 6 footer like me. I think the looks are OK. I can't understand why poor Deshi even bought a car he thought was ugly. I sold a 93 Camry with 110K miles which never gave me any trouble. Hope this one does as good.

I like this car. Worth every penny. Those who complain about this car probably neglect regular maintenance. If you take care of the car it will take care of you. I did my research before buying this car, and the V6 engine is the only way to go. I test drove 4 cyl and did not like it.

Strength:

Excellent Build quality. Gas milage approaching 36mpg. Predictable handling. Quiet interior. Body and interior show very little wear after 10 years and 187,000 miles. Trouble free operation

Weakness:

The 3S-FE 4cyl could use about 10 more horsepower to keep the automatic transmission from downshifting into 3rd gear quite so often. When you change the oil, it drains from the filter down the side of the block and onto the catalytic converter causing a burnt oil smell for about 50 miles after an oil change. Front suspension design seems to compromise tire life (keep those tires rotated!)

After Owning a 1978 Celica, 1981 Corolla, 1987 2wd Pickup, and a 1989 2wd pickup, my fiance and I purchaced this car to use as transportation between her school and her job. I was never worried about mechanical breakdowns or any other problems with this super nice 1 owner used car. The car could use more power when trying to pull long grades at 55mph. (However we discovered in an emergency that the little 4cyl has plenty of power at 100-115mph) I now use the car for sales work and put more miles on the clock every day, but the Camry is still an excellent dependable automobile.

Model Reviewed: Toyota Camry

Strength:

Durability, dependability, quiet ride, safe driving feel. Best car I've ever owned.

Weakness:

Brakes sometimes pulsate on hard braking

the 93 Camry now at 480,000 kilometres (or 290,000 miles). Original muffler, shocks, only replacement parts used: thermostat, valve cover gasket, one water pump, usual maintenance otherwise.

Great paint durability. Use Krown rust oil spray annually no rust in a snow/salt environment.

The 2.2 litre 4 cylinder engine is excellent if it receives regular oil/filter changes @ 5000 km or 3000 miles.

Much better than domestics, more durable than Honda Accords.
