Strength:
Very easy to drive.
Weakness:
Poor quality, over-priced, too many problems. Don't buy a Camry. It's a poorly constructed, over-priced, and just plain tinny machine. Similar Products Used: Mazda wagon - far more reliable. |

Strength:
quiet,great gas mileage,reliability
Weakness:
own the 4 banger alittle underpowered but then again its a 4,weather trimming on around back windows showing wear and tear, breaks make awfully lowd noise breaking at 60-70mph but i'm not breaking hard just touching them i would highly recomend this car v6 if you have the money i didn't ride is smooth but there are concerns about the breaks. Very roomy inside nice steering response in city and highway great gas mileage. ride and comfort tops in class. This is forsure better than any american car in this class. Similar Products Used: honda accord(to lowd),nissan maxium(way more expensive)ford toras(cheap american car)(and a ford to boot ewww).chrysler intrepid(great but to engine to lowd),mazda(opps they all suck) |

Strength:
Every typical good points of a boat. And it is a reliable boat that drives you around.
Weakness:
We are talking about cars, right? This boat is over-assisted in every possible way that the driver: you are totally isolated from the road, the ride and the fun part of driving a car. This car is extremely quiet and smooth and it is also spacious. low cost on gas. Has high reliability and high resale value. Sounds like the best deal, huh? Yeah right, if only I am buying a boat. And the ride of this car is exactly what you get being in a boat: totally isolated from the outside world (here the road instead of water), totally out of control(thank God for that zero-feedback self-determinating lighter-than-feather steering wheel)and totally drowsy (I just lost count of how many times I dropped into sleep during the ride of this boat caused by its total dullness. I think it has singlehandedly redefined the term "boring" in the auto world.) Similar Products Used: Nissan Maxima, Honda family, Toyota family. |

Caprice Classic
Strength:
comfortable, good gas mileage foe big car, people used to slow down on my residential street when they saw a white Caprice parked on it. I guess that I might be in the market for a Crown Vic next.
Weakness:
Transmission is third one and is clunking at times (108000 miles). My father-in-law had one put in under warranty at about 46000, I had to get another at 56000 (luckily still under warranty). Antilock brake module died at about same time as trans. New evacuator put in last year ($600) this year AC is leaking at compressor. Glad it has been a mild summer. Leather seats are cracked all over. Propbably my fault as I didn't think that they would need maintenence. My cloth and vinyl seats in the other 10 cars that I have owned have never had problems. I paid $6500 in 1996 over 3 years at no interest (my Father-in-law is a great guy eh!?) I wouldn't buy this car used at regular prices unless I was a mechanic. Then it might be OK. Someone told me this full frame and V8 would last forever. We will see. I just promised my 9 year old daughter that she could have it for free, if it's still around when she starts to drive. Similar Products Used: Olds 98 1972. Someday my dream is to own another. This Caprice is garbage in comparison. 1972 Olds 88 ($100 and got over 15000 out of it) 1978 Pontiac Phoenix (same engine as Caprice I think) Nice car for $750 in 1987 |

Toyota Camry LE
Strength:
This car has a very comfortable interior, quiet on the highway, it has a quality stereo. In general the car has excellent build quality and reliablity.
Weakness:
Just about every light bulb in the car needs to be replaced. (A minor complaint in comparison.) The car has way too much body roll , the car also nose dives heavaly when you brake. Its a bit boring in terms of the styling of the car, other than that the car is quite good in all other aspects. The interior is layed out well and has easy to use controls. The car is an excellent A to B car, it does that job well. When you get in a turn the key you go, something that is generally overlooked when you are in the market for a new car. This car does not have a lot of glimmer or style but does what it was intended for and does it well. I would never hesitate to buy another Toyota just because of how well the product is assembled and how good their cars are. I would most definatly recommend this car to someone who is looking for a comfortable dependable car. It most definatly is one of the best 4 door sedans on the market. Similar Products Used: 1994- Pontiac Grand Prix SE, - This is no where near the car the Camry is, the build quality of the Japanese product is far higher than that of the american product. |

Pontiac GP GT
Strength:
To Vernon (the automotive expert): Inline-4 DOES NOT refer to the valves being "inline". I believe the correct explanation is that the CYLINDERS are "inline". Sheesh.
Weakness:
I'd also like to say that the Toyota Camry has single-handedly become the poster child for BORING. Regardless of it's so-called stellar reliability reputation, I was pleased to sacrifice some perceived reliability to own my '99 Pontiac Grand Prix. Call it pride and individuality. Bought a GP GT... Strength:
Overall good reliability,I have been in all cars in its class and none have interior quality even close to the Camry. Spacious trunk, good sized spare tire. Quietest 4 cylinder I have heard. Build quality is top notch.
Weakness:
Engine could use a little more power, but it gets the job done. Power windows roll up very slow. I purchased my 96 camry in Mar. of 99 with 59000 mi on the odometer. Within 2 days the inadequate stereo system was replaced from top to bottom. One of the good things was that the receiver opening is Double-din so you can put a slick lookin head unit that fits perfect in there. I chose the JVC XC770 and anyone who has been in the car says it looks great. Infinity Kappa speakers were added all around and they be rockin'.I also upgraded the entire suspension with KYB struts, Eibach springs, 17 in TSW wheels, with Michelin tires. Warning: if you do this you must roll the fenders, as I found out the hard way. On a trp to the beach shortly after I put the rims on,I kept hearing noises from the tires. I got out to check and found that the inner lip of my rear wheelwells was coming down and cutting into my sidewalls. Luckily I caught it in time where not much damage was done, but it still pissed me off. My only mechanical repairs have been replacing the timing belt (300.00) at 81k and just last week I had to have a new flex pipe welded into the exhaust (120.00) at 83k. I have had no other problems in the 24k miles except for one electronic that still has not even attempted to be fixed because it is so odd. There are three tiny light bulbs behind the vent/ac/heat controls, and I noticed the middle one was burnt out. So I went to the dealer, got a replacement bulb and went to put it in. After doing so, my heat/ac/vent controls have gone haywire. When my lights are off, I have absolutely no problems and everything works as it should. But when the lights get turned on, ahh thats where the fun begins. All the lights are lit now, but the off position puts the vent on low, the low position turns the vent off, if I put it on any of the middle settings, I blow the fuse for the interior and taillights. The full blast high setting works fine but you have to turn the dial real fast so the fuse doesnt blow when you pass through the middle settings!! I have no idea how this is happening, all I did was replace a $3 bulb!! I have taken the cluster apart on 2 seperate occasions to make sure nothing was funny back there, but it is fine. No exposed wires, all harnesses are in there place, I never knew what damage a light bulb could do. But anyway, other than that my Camry has performed flawlessly and I would recommend it to anyone considering it.If you are looking for an affordable, high quality, reliable sedan, look no further the Toyota Camry is the car for you. Similar Products Used: This is my first expierience with a Camry, and I have not owned any other cars similar. I am impressed, though. |

Strength:
Quiet ride. Good handling. Comfortable and roomy interior. Large trunk. Good sound system. Good visibility. Easy to change the oil on the 4-cylinder model.
Weakness:
The 4-cylinder won't jerk your hat off but it's not too bad. The radio knob has the balance attached to it so everytime you adjust the volume you mess up the balance. The 3 disk cd changer works fine but will freak you out how it is designed(makes noises). Don't get aftermarket wood grain. Mine faded from the sun and started peeling off. This the third car I have owned and is the best by far. My wife drives it mainly and loves it(she is very picky). I have 33K on it and have owned it for 3.5 years. No problems at all. It is a 97 LE with leather and 4-cylinder and payed 20,600 for it. I think it could pass for a luxury car in many aspects. Reliability is a big thing since my wife drives it and it has been good so far. I highly recomend it. Similar Products Used: 1988 ChyslerDodge Ares(K-car)-total piece of junk, 1984 Ford Probe-good engine built by mazda, bad engineering of some stuff, electric window broke more than once. |

Camry LE 4-cylinder
Strength:
Nothing.
Weakness:
It's probably due to the fact that we purchased a Camry in a new model year, because I've always been pleased with Toyota products, but this is truly the worst of the five cars I've owned. The 4-cylinders are sluggish, its ride is a bit noisy, we've had problems with the suspension and now the electrical system has blown out on us. The sound system is sub-par and the seats have become hard as rocks. I'm willing to bet that prison cells have more comfortable seating. And then there's the body styling. Boring! I remember when my father purchased an American Motors Pacer in 1975 and how disgusted he was with it after only a few years. I now know how he feels. If you're in the market for a used Camry, steer clear of the '97 model year. I have a feeling that prior and subsequent years were far superior. Similar Products Used: I've owned a Pontiac Grand Prix, a Toyota Celica, a Mazda MX-6 and currently a Toyota 4-Runner. They are all superior to the '97 Camry. |

The exterior look of the car is not bad. The interior is roomy.the horse power is great.

There are absoultly nothing advance abou the camry the equipment of the car is very typical. It's just another typical Jap car. The car is quite relieable but the technical engineering is poor. Similar Products Used: 626,ford falcon, |
