Strength:

Good for street driving except for the manufacturer defect that is impossible to repair. Good car for young adult with no family / passengers.

Weakness:

Manufacturer claims car for very small and lean people - NOT for AVERAGE American Public. Made for Japanese folks ONLY???

This car has Suspension problems that cannot be repaired. The muffler pipe does not clear most inclined areas. Sitting person in rear right makes for terrible scrapes and bottom out. This car was sold new to us but had repairs done before we took off lot without our knowledge for same problem. On freeway, sounds like scooter, with poor road control. BUMPER to BUMPER WORTHLESS - They did not honor because problem not fixable. We have 23k miles on it. Not worth our money.

Similar Products Used:

Nissan SENTRA - no problems with the car. I loved it. Also Ford Taurus - EASY to drive and worth the money.

Strength:

Exterior is great, no rust. The transmission is running almost flawlessly at 200,000 kms. Efficient little car, and feels safe, no 'tin can' doors. Perfect size, not too big or too small (but im 5'2). Definitely recommended. Pretty good on gas.

Weakness:

Windshield wipers are annoying and squeaky unless it's pouring out with rain. Not very much power going up hills but I don't really need a powerful car. Very conservative looking so a minus to those who like flashy cars. The only older corollas i've seen are burgendy so if you don't like the burgendy look you might be out of luck.

I bought this car when I graduated from high school, and although the brakes had to be fixed (both the front and back) pretty much right away it hasn't given me trouble. I spent about 1000 dollars in total on the brakes and brake pads to be changed. I changed the intermediate exhaust pipe on the recommendation of the mechanic I go to who said that the intermediate pipe will fill up with crud and dirt every year and have to be flushed out for about 150 bucks. So i replaced it with a straight pipe. It can be a bit jittery going from second to first gear. It runs very well aside from the fact that it is a bit louder than it was due to the taking out of the intermediate pipe. All in all, this car was an excellent find and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind practical, efficient and long lasting vehicles.

Strength:

extremely fast 4 cylinder engine (and i'm not a racer)I've driven some peppy 4 cyls but this one takes the cake.it has a smooth almost big car ride and quality assembly. The interior is functional the seats are comfortable and the fabric seems rugged enough to withstand years of use.So far as the driver i feel relatively comfortable in this car and it handles well. if you were going to buy the hyundai the kia or a small light car like those, including the civic, you might as well get the corolla. more bang for your buck in the long run. do your research you'll see.

Weakness:

Well there aren't many but here we go the cars suspension is very soft yet comfortable Caution in wind this car sucks when its windy..it's looks grow on you but it is quite boring. rear door quarter windows leak a little and the leg room both front and back needs to be re thought i'm 5/10 with the seat all the way back i still feel a little cramped in the drivers seat it's bearable though. also with the front seats all the way back no one over the age of 5 will fit comfortable in the back ??? hello toyota where did all the space go in this spacious sub-compact. alright enough said i still like the car

i took this off my mothers hands, she just got an 03' my sister has the one before it a 96. the 01 corolla with 63,000 miles, so far is excellent on gas mileage is comfortable, although a little cramped, runs great, comfortable yet not sporty suspension (very soft) brakes better then most but not the best ( no complaints though)Body,, well she's no dog but there's no sex appeal either. modern and practical just like my mother.

could have a little more leg room. I'm 6.1 and I just fit. Rotten Egg smell!

Have had the car for a month and so far so good. I love everything about my Toyota. This is my first. It is a definite upgrade from my 98 Kia Sephia. I do get the rotten egg smell from time to time. I live in Michigan and it does take a little to long to heat up.

Strength:

It's roomier than one would think, and has decent trunk space for a little car. Great in the snow as well.

Weakness:

ALso I've noticed that a large number of people are also complaining about an incredibly annoying rattling sound originating from the drivers side dash. And here I thought it was just me!!!

Styling is great! I love this car! Have had it for 11 mths and recently noticed an awful rotten egg smell. Brought it back to the dealer and was told it was just sulpher fumes, not the catlytic converter, and to try a new gas station. However, after some digging on the web it seems hundreds of 2003 corola owners all over the US have the same issue.(If you don't believe me justlook for your self) There is obviously a bigger issue here that needs to be addressed by the company, especially considering the large number of complaints. Get rid of this problem and we'd have little to complain about.

only looks. my car is a lemon.

Weakness:

everything.

This is my 1st car and will never buy another toyota again! Its been in the shop 18x since I bought in in 3/02.Of course the dealership blames you for most of the defects. here are some of them: right clip in door panel missing, wheel alignment, new strusts (only has 16,000 miles, defected rim, brakes adjusted 3x, e-brake failed, insulation in dash board popping up, car is recalled for the rear axle!!! and the list goes on, but not enough room to write it. Please be careful with buying a corolla. the dealer only cares about there money, but not another human life.

i need a bigger car or truck so i may sell this one soon.

it,s a great little car. i drive on interstate daily and that,s where it shows it,s stuff.it,s smooth ,doesn,t take up to much of the road, brakes really good and cruises at 70 mph without a strain. the a/c is original and blows ice cold even in new orleans summers.

Good gas mileage, Pretty good interior look, Clean and aerodynamic shape outside. And a lovely trunk.

Weakness:

Speedometer look awful the car nedeed more looks.

This car for the price I paid is awesome it gives me 32mpg in city and 40mpg in Highway. It have a 1.6 12 valves engine that puts 105hp, runs smooth, with out engine noise. It accelerate good making 0-60 in 8.3 sec which is good for a compact car. Handling is good I have taken close curves at high speed and run over 120mph when the car only marks 110 in the dash. My car is almost stock except for a pipe.

Looks nice inside and out.

Weakness:

The company. Once they sell you the car, they couldn't care less about you. Car smells like a sewage treatment plant. If you want better gas mileage, buy a Hummer.

I'm with the guy who called it a lemon. The gas mileage is way off. I got 23 MPG highway, yes highway. I also get the rotten egg smell pouring out the tailpipe and into the cabin of the car. Toyota won't do a thing, they blame everyone but themselves. Buy a Honda Civic, I wish I could but it's to late for me.
