Strength:

Cheap, affordable basic transportation.
Very little maintenance needed if you change the oil.
Takes a beating and keeps on ticking - see below.

Weakness:

This is not a fancy car - it is plain vanilla. Seats ache the back on long trips (for me over 4 hours). No space in the back - is ok for kids but not for adults.
Other than that - no complaints - would buy another tomorrow.

We bought this car for my wife to drive around town (it was cheap as it had been rebuilt from a fender bender). She drove it for several years and a couple more fender benders. We gave it to our oldest son when he learned to drive and he beat it for over 3 years. Our younger son inherited it and beat it for 2 more years. The car had 138,000 miles on it when it decided it couldn't take the harassment any more - it jumped out in front of traffic and committed suicide. No-one hurt thank God. Ran fine to the day it took it's own life. I'd buy another one in a second.

Model Reviewed: Toyota Corolla LE

Strength:

smooth ride, good gas mileage, well-desgined dashboard and interior, good warranty

Weakness:

cramped back seat - but then hardly anyone will be riding in my back seat!

So far, I am extremely pleased with my new Corolla, have had it over a week now...it provides a very smooth ride and is very quiet - the visibility when you are looking behind you or to either side is very good...the dashboard is well designed - gauges easy to read - I love the interior of this car...you have a center armrest with a console containing a place for sunglasses, several storage compartments other than glove box, the cupholders are retractable and adjustable, this car has plenty of pep - 125 HP yet more torque and fewer rpm than the Civic, it has a timing chain rather than a belt, this will not need replacing until 90,000 miles! It has a good powertrain warranty (60,000 miles) which is better than some other popular competitors - so far, I can't find one thing about the '01 Corolla LE that I don't like! I think this would be a good choice for anyone wanting a small car that provides a smooth ride, gets good gas mileage, and comes with a longer warranty than the Civic - plus, Toyotas have a reputation for building reliable cars - which was a priority for me

Strength:

-Sporty looks interior and exterior
-Good pickup for a 4 cylinder
-Very affordable
-Very customiseable

Weakness:

-Tire Size(Can be easily fixed)
-No V6 available

Very pleased with the color, interior style and design, exterior body design, and the price. I had a little noise in the engine in the first month, but the dealer fixed it in 5 min. I am working on customising my Corrola S so that I can keep up with the Mustangs and the Mersadies.

Model Reviewed: Corolla S

Strength:

Value, this car I got was fully loaded, it had EVERYTHING, except the spoiler. This car is quick too. The ride is smooth, corners well and I average 32 mpg CITY, and I like to rev hi too!

Weakness:

Red illumination of the guages, that's all I can think of.

I went to Edmunds.com and I haven't read a more biased review. They practically talked crap about this car. Shows you what they know, if Corollas suck, then why do they sell so well? Go figure!

I love the power of this car. Smoking the front tires is effortless. I can beat and keep up with them so called street racers. The car also has all the options that I want.

The quality is good, but I wish Toyota would use 100% Japanese components so that their low end products would have flawless quality. American components suck! (that's why Fords are Fords). The engine revs smoothly and you'll be up to freeway speeds before you know it. The interior is great. Who ever says that the car is cramped is either over 7 feet tall or weights 500lbs, but sorry this car isn't for you.

I got the S model, and I wish they used 15in or even 16in alloys instead of the 14in. I've only had the car for a short while, my following upgrades are just an intake system and an exhaust. That's about it, I'm not going to put too much money into it coz I'm saving up for the car I really want to get once it comes to the U.S......

A Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VII

If you don't know what it is, it's basically a car about the size of a Corolla, that has enough power to humiliate a Mustang and out perform a Corvette, especially in bad weather, thanks to AWD. Until then, I'll be happily driving another quality Toyota product.

Strength:

Verrrry reliable car. I have owned this car for 7 years, and I have only
had one problem - a rattle that was immediately fixed by the dealer (this
happened in the first month I owned the car - a bug maybe). Other than that I have had absolutely no problem with this car. Parts and service costs are reasonable, and Toyota seems to have a good mechanism in place to avoid overcharging for services.

Weakness:

Engine could use a little more power. I guess this car really is the
PERFECT second car as it is for me.

If you want a very reliable car, basic transportation - buy this car!
This is the ideal "second car" for short drives, grocery trips...

97 Honda Civic - better acceleration, but poor fit and finish, lots of wind noise.

1999 Volvo V70 GLT - Simply the worst car I have ever owned. I have had to
bring it to the dealership 8 times in the 18 months I have owned the car for
various repairs. This Corolla was one third the cost of the Volvo and is ten times more reliable.

Model Reviewed: Wagon

Strength:

Reliability. The thing doesnt break even though i ride on all-famous Russian roads (read - cross-country :) Good lookin (yeah, i like the looks of this wagon :) Economy. Reliable engine. And did i mention, the thing is realiable ? Stiff suspension, nice steering (my car does not have a power steering).

Weakness:

Although the car is the cheapest Toyota model, it isnt that cheap. The interior is rather poor and simple. The engine is not meant for racing.

I am satisfied with the car - the only thing i do is tank when needed, and regularly check her up at Toyota service. The engine isnt "elastic" (1.3 90hp), but at high RPM the horsepower shows pretty good. However, for an "active" driver the driving mode is above 4000 RPM, and the engine is noisy at high RPM.

The deal is definitely worth the bucks, cause (although simple) the car wont be a money-eater, requiring minimum repairs (provided it is well-cared). The suspension can withstand even the worst roads, without even going disadjusted. The engine (4E-FE) did not EVER emit any suspicious noise (120K km mileage) - it never failed to start either.

However, the interior is not rich (and in my complectation it is poor). But this isnt a "luxury" car - a reliable working horse.

Model Reviewed: Corolla DX 1.8L

Strength:

Always 30mpg or better.
Dependable daily freeway commuter. (64 miles round trip)
Minimal repairs with proper maintenance.
Quiet ride...smooth engine.
Nobody wants to steal it. (Not a Honda)

Weakness:

It's afraid of hills...especially with 2 or more people in the car. The tranny clunks when you dip below 50mph on the freeway and try to regain your speed to fast. The body leans too hard on fast turns and curved freeway ramps. It's like driving on Krispy Kreme tires with marshmellow shocks.

I have 120K miles, a few dents and dings...but it runs like a tank.
My car was a rental car and has probably suffered tons of abuse. It was also pretty dinged up when I got it. (I was a desperate and poor college student.) This is a good buy if you need reliable A to B transportation to get to work. Don't expect to pick up any chicks or race any rice rockets. Finally...putting chrome rims and a spoiler on this car will not make it cool.

The best quality of this car is it's looks, and that it has A/C :)

Weakness:

The worst weakness is the stero system

I'm 16 and this is my first car. I got it for $350.00 bucks!!! It was close to mint condition but did need a little TLC. But i'll tell you this, this car will haul some major a$$!!! For just a little 1.8 liter. I absouletly love racing people with this car because they think it is unpowered, but they are in for a suprise. Overall this car is the best and i would jump at the chance to buy another one like it.

Pretty good car. Suprised on the pick-up, faster than Civics stock. All the switches are easy to get to. Very reliable. Good trunk space to.

Weakness:

Probably just be the back leg room. If it had more, it would be like a "perfect car". Also stock stereo isn't that good.

Would reccomend it to anyone, young or old. Pretty good car all around. Pretty fast even though not a sports car. Great, I would not hesitate to buy another one, even though i got myn free from my mom. Had no big problems with it.
