Strength:
Reliability, never had a problem with the engine or transmission. Had to change clutch and it cost me around $120.
Weakness:
This is not a sports car, so do not expect much power. However, the car does very well on the highway, and feels like a rock. I do recommend this car, it did not give me any trouble. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars and not five is because of its price, I think it is little expensive compared to similar cars. Similar Products Used: None |

Reliablity
Weakness:
Needs a longer wheelbase for leg room in back This is a very nice reliable car. I bought it cause I do not want to fix a car for the next 10 years!!! with this car you only need to change the oil and just drive. Strong, but not powerfull...its not a sport car. Nice and will last for a long time. Good car for a small family or someone buying a first car. Similar Products Used: none |

Nothing!!!!
Weakness:
You name it. I was loaned this so called car, while my Bravada was being painted, it was scratched before I bought it, and the dealer repaired it. The car has no power, very cheap looking interior, did not run very good, had no options at all. All you can say about it was, it had 4 wheels and an engine. It is an econobox. Not much for looks, power, or driveability. no armrest, uncomfortable to drive. CHEAP!!! Similar Products Used: I wouldn't compare it with any car. My daughter has a pontiac Sunfire, and it is a much better vehicle. Better looks, interior, runs better. |

Toyota Corolla LE
Strength:
Good gas mileage, I average 33-35 mpg in heavy LA traffic commute. I bought this car to use as a "commuter car", but the quality problems are so bad that I will trade it in soon.
Weakness:
I've had problems with the radio, electric door locks and remote (all fixed under warranty). Since about 4000 miles, the right door pillar trim rattles/buzzes and by the time I finish my 30 mile commute it has driven me up the wall! Many other squeeks and rattles - very disappointing. I bought a Toyota to get "Toyota quality", but this car is junk. I would NEVER recommend this car to anyone or anything from Toyota. The worse part is the service department. They are rude and practically useless. I have had to contact the National Consumer Complaint hotline number to get most things fixed. Any car with quality should not have these problems. The last straw was when I had a flat, and found out that the lugwrench that came with the car didn't fit the aftermarket wheels that my Toyota dealer sold me, leaving me stranded for over 3 hours waiting for AAA and a tow to a tire store. I hate this car! DON'T buy a Corolla. From my experience, it is obvious that they do NOT have the level of quality that Toyota advertises. The service department is very unhelpful, and only does anything after complaints to the "800" hotline. This car has been a series of disappointments and frustrations since I bought it. Similar Products Used: While my car has been in for service, I have rented and been pleased with similar small economy cars from Mitsubishi, Dodge Neon and Ford Focus. ALL, even the Chevy Metro were better cars, no trim pieces rattling or squeeking. |

Toyota Corolla CE
Strength:
Very reliable, solid car
Weakness:
not powerful, suspension problems I'm about to turn in my Corolla CE after leasing it for three years. Overall, I was very satisfied with it. I got the car because I wanted Toyota reliability, and that's exactly what I got. I've never had any engine problems, or for that matter, any problems of any type with this car. I also like the interior style, especially the dashboard layout. Sound system is pretty good. The main downside is the obvious lack of power and suspension, particularly at over 70 mph. The car feels the wind on the road, and at times seems like it is about to tip over during curves. There also is no legroom in the back. Next time around I am going to get something more powerful, and probably not a Toyota, because I don't want to pay a premium for it. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Reliability and Dependability. No major problem [engine,transmission...]encountered yet for this 170000 mi daily driven car.
Weakness:
Lacks power when going uphill [4cyl. auto trans, carburetted], smooth acceleration in the freeway though. Toyota built cars are known for their reliability and dependability. This car is an example of it. Similar Products Used: Nissan 200sx. 4 cyl, manual transmission. More power than the corolla. Solid built. |

Strength:
Quality, good mpg, great reliability and resale value.
Weakness:
Not quite enough leg room but acceptable. I've sat in more comfortable seats. I bought my 2000 Corolla from Toyota dealer for about $13,500. I'm not sure of the exact amount because I had a trade and you all know how that confuses things. This was a rental car with 11,000 miles. So far it has been great. 32-34 mpg on average. This car has plenty of power for what I need. Passing is not a problem when I need to. Could use just a tad more leg room, but I found most compacts have a similar problem. I considered a Daewoo Nubira but after doing some serious research, I quickly changed my mind. I also considered the Sentras and Proteges, and they are good cars in their own right, but with my trade, I couldn't get as good of a deal with those dealers as I got with the Corolla. I find the ride to be very good. Takes bumps very well. Seats could be a little more comfortable, but overall I'm very happy with my choice. Toyota Corolla CE (Manual)
Strength:
This really is the best car I've ever driven. The little 1.8L engine really packs a punch. The VVTi technology (similar to Honda's VTEC) gives you great power at all speeds and RPMs. When "power shifting" the car has enough oomph to spin a wheel in third gear. Does great on the highway: 65 to 85 in seconds! It handles great in all weather. The Michelan tires are great for wet roads, but if you get a flat be prepared to pay $150+ to replace one of these things.
Weakness:
Toyota, for what ever reason, is starting to use more American parts in their cars. As any honest person would tell you, American stuff as a rule, is low quality. The American companies just want to make a buck. I have owned a few Corollas, and one thing that has always impressed me was the quality of the plastics used. In my 2000 Corolla some American plastics are being used for some interior components (such as the small buttons anchoring the speaker mount board behind the rear seat). These buttons are already fading and flaking off from sun exposure. All the genuine Toyota plastics, of course, are still in perfect condition. This is a great car. It's fast, dependable, handles well, and is reasonably priced. Buy the CE with manual transmission: it's cheaper and a whole lot more fun. Strength:
-strong peppy smooth revving engine and broad torque band.
Weakness:
-needs more legroom (espically on the rear) The Corolla is mostly an overall good car. It accelerates better than a Honda Civic EX, due to the Corolla being less heavier and the Corolla having a broader torque band even though the Civic has two more hp (the two hp. will be needed to haul the extra weight). The Corolla is a very refined and solid car. It has a very quiet interior and you would find in more bigger and expensive cars. But one thing I don't like about it is the legroom. The tires may be average, but the legroom is tight. But I would definitly recomend the Toyota Corolla to a potential car buyer. Similar Products Used: honda civic, saturn sl2 |

Strength:
Solid and well built. Dependable.
Weakness:
Value for the dollar. Repair costs. Dealer's attitude. Although our Corolla was a very good car, I cannot in good faith recommend it for a number of reasons. First, the car is overpriced compared to the Nissan Sentra which in my experience is just as good and costs far less. The Corolla is built on the same assembly line and is the exact same car as a Chevy/Geo Prism, which costs less. Second, Toyota has become a victim of its own success. The majority of Toyota dealers I've dealt with won't dicker on the price and when they do act as if they're doing you a favor. Third, while I can't deny that the Corolla is a dependable car (but no more so than a Sentra or Prism), something will eventually go wrong. And when it does, expect to pay more than the Sentra or Prism owner will. Unless you're really into brand-names or you have a friend or relative who works for a Toyota dealer, there's really no reason for you to pay extra for this car. Talk to a Chevy or Nissan dealer instead. Similar Products Used: Having owned five Nissan Sentras that performed similarly to the Corolla and were just as reliable, I simply cannot justify the extra cost of this car. |
