Strength:

great gas mileage, 37 mpg, very reliable, maintenance free, suprising pick-up for a V4, great visibility

Weakness:

no cup-holders, poor factory speakers

I learned to drive on this car when I first got my permit. It was my mom's car and when I get my liscense next month, it will be mine. It's very easy to drive, you can see well and it is cheap to maintain, which is good for people who have no money like me. And yes, I have driven other types of cars and I do not like them as much as the Corolla. Replaced the timing belts at 60,000 miles and will again at 120,000. It's now at 114,000. I expect it to make it to 200000. Great car for someone who doesn't want to keep pouring money into repairs and gas. It's by no means a sports car, but you don't feel ashamed driving it like you do in a mini-van.

Strength:

-sporty looks inside and out
-good acceleration
-handling
-affordable

Weakness:

no universal color lights inside cause the gauges are red and the rest are illuminated in green
this is not a big problem
red-colored gauges looks good to me

all in all i really enjoy this car. the sporty look works for the corolla.
the S model can easily take the place of the late model corolla gts. if you are looking for a car that is affordable and is dependable, then i recommend you looking into and buying a corolla.

Strength:

Reliability-over 120k with little maintenance and repair
Gas Mileage-easily average 27 miles per gallon
Looks-one of the better looking compacts of that year

Weakness:

Very few weaknesses! If you're over 6 feet, might be a bit small. Then again, all compacts are. I'm not a big person (5' 8") so I fit great in it. I bought it new and have done very little to maintain/repair it. Original powertrain runs great! All I did was change the timing belt at 80k. Even the Michelin tires went 100k. The past year, I've replaced those tires (4), the radiator, starter, and the brakes, all parts that wear on any car with this much usage. Looks great after all these years.

This is a great car! I bought it because Corolla's have been around for over 30 years and have a great track record. I recommend it to anyone looking for an economy car that has a bit of style to it. Me and my wife now have 2 young babies and it's beginning to get a bit cramped. We're now looking for a bigger car but will keep this one to commute with. I love it!

Model Reviewed: Toyota Corolla CE

Strength:

The 1.8l 1ZZ-FE engine has decent power and incredible mileage! It runs smooth and reliable like you would expect a Toyota to do. It handles pretty well, and the car has a distinct quality feel to it.

Weakness:

Cramped rear seat (but it is a compact!) Flimsy console beverage holder that cannot be used with a cell phone plugged in. When using cruise and the tranny shifts down to go up a hill, it seems it takes forever to shift back into overdrive once you are over the hill and even going down the other side. I ended up using the cruise like an autostick most of the time, kicking off the cruise control with the button on the end, then pushing the stick back down immediately to set ot again. This has worked pretty well, but I'm pretty sure I paid for an automatic transmission! Also the plastic housing around the cigarette lighter pulls out when you attempt to extract the cell phone plug, and isn't very cooperative about going back in properly.

A few nagging problems but overall I would recommend this car to others. The engine is and awesome piece of engineering with both power and efficiency. I would tell those with one or more children you will want more room. I do.

Strength:

Good handling for its class, nice suspension although a little soft, decent braking, good interior finish, nice trunk and good controls layout
Good resale value. A logical choice for someone aware of facts and track record.

Weakness:

Not suited for very long rides, seats are not the most comfortable,Cup holder's location suspect, sitting position awkward for tall drivers (knees start hurting after a while), cramped in the back but it's a compact...

13000 with additional options such as AC and radio-cassette with 4 speakers. Do i recommend this car? Absolutely!
A car is a serious and expensive investment...
Reliability is a must!! Toyota is by far the number one for value and reliability! Hondas are better styled and Chevy has more HP's however for a worry-free riding experience and a LEXUS-like service no way you can't beat TOYOTA!!!
SP.
Next car will be a...TOYOTA. Does it tell you something?

Strength:

Toyota reliablity, great gas milage, good brakes, Good cold A/C, very little body roll. Its a trouble free car in general.

Weakness:

Cruddy factory stereo, ( 2 speakers 11 watts a side ). The 3 speed auto is not that good of a choice for this car. Other than that , excellent economy car all around.

This car is the best A to B car ever produced. IT JUST DOESNT BREAK. This car has ROCK solid reliablity. The car is currently at 120,000km and the only thing that has been replaced is the tires at 110,000km. This car still has the original brakes on it. This car has survived the canadaian winters and has done well , never failed to start in the cold. The only thing that I would recommend when buying one of these cars is get a five speed or the 4 speed automatic. In the 2000 Corolla that is not a problem anymore because the only auto transmission you can get is the 4 speed auto. I would most definatly recommend the car to anyone who is looking for a car with world class reliablity. You will not regret the purchase. The only problem is that you will be quickly sucked into wanting a nicer Toyota.

Ive never owned the following cars but have driven them long enough to make a comparison.
1999- Chevrolet Cavalier 4dr - This car cannot even begin to compare to the Corolla in terms of quality. If your buying a smaller car to save money do not buy the cavalier.
1996- Honda Civic - Good quality product with a nicer looking interior and its slightly more comfortable inside. The biggest problem with this car is that the metal on the car is too soft and rust tends to develop quickly and door dings are next to unavoidable.

Model Reviewed: Toyota Corolla 4D, Automatic

Strength:

Excellent gas milage, very light, manuvers well, stops quickly, excellent car for someone who's learning how to drive, did I mention reliable??
Excellent stock audio system.

Put a K&N in it and get more power! Loves to eat P.O.S honda civics, bigger P.O.S neon's, etc.

Weakness:

In 1993 the auto tranny is a 3-speed, not enough gears for the 1.6L that wants more and more. I'm glad the new ones have a 4-speed with ECT VVTI.
No RPM gauges. Brakes are up to the task but not amazing.

Water pump was replaced once, besides that I never got stuck with it!

Great car to start driving or if you aren't into high perfomrance.
Get a 5 speed for 2 more extra gears.
Get sporty tires, don't put rims cause the car won't be able to accelerate as fast ( a friend of mine learned that after spending $1000 on rims )

Excellent bang for the Back.

GO TOYOTA!

enough said.

Strength:

Good all around economy car. Excellent gas mileage. Picks up surprisingly well for a compact. Controls are simple and well laid out.

Weakness:

The AC could be stronger. Temps have been around 95 and it doesn't fully do the job. The styling of the car is really plain jane. Doesn't do anything for me either way. The interior colors are the worst since the neon.

This has been a rental car for the last week. For the money it seems like a durable, well-made car. Just doesn't stir a single thing in me.
