Strength:
Lots of room. Seats are easy to remove and provides a lot of space.
Weakness:
Idler Tension Pulley has been changes six times and serpentine belt constantly shreds to pieces. AC evaporator not of good quality and when it goes it costs hundreds to replace because of labor to remove the whole dash where it is located. Exterior finish is not of good quality. Paint chips easily. Front calipers wear out. Chrysler is nice while you buy their their product but when it comes to warranty.....yeah right!!! I would not recommene a Dodge Grand Caravan because of the idler tension and serpentine belt problem. Also the AC has problems that arise within a few years of operating the vehicle. The wipers turn on by themselves and the calipers wear excessively. Similar Products Used: People knock Ford but every Ford I have had has given me at least 150,00 to 165,000 miles with little major work. |

We have only had this Van for 3 months so haven't experienced all of the problems these other people have had. It had 55,000 miles on it wehn we got it. One MAJOR problem: I was in a rear end collision with it doing only 35 miles an hour and the airbag didnot deploy nor did the selt belt hold. I hit the steering wheel and the windshield(and never fail to use my seatbelt). At 60 or 70 I would hate to think what might have happened. Oh, by the way, the passengers side bag did deploy, but there was no one in that seat. Recently I discovered that there were 14,700 recalls that year with airbag electronics problems in Chrysler and Dodge products!!!!!!! Also, in this accident, at 35 mpg, the front of the frame was bent. The body shop where it is being repaired requested from Chrysler, 3 weeks ago the schematics for the airbag sensors and have totally ignored the many requests by phone as well as in writing. Our van cannot be repaired without these and the multi-million dollar company CANNOT or WILLNOT be bothered. Similar Products Used: None |

Nice riding for the first 4 years, after that, the suspension needed replacing. It was only driven on smooth surfaces.
Weakness:
Transmission went out at 61,000. Never towed anything, took excellent care of it but would not recommend it. Can't change spark plugs without paying mechanic $100...they need to loosen engin mounts to do it. Stay away from Chrysler products!! You are asking for trouble! You at least better have the extended warranty. I have taken great care to have the oil changed/transmission oil changed every 2500 to 3000/25000 miles and I should never had to of replaced the transmission! Don't do it unless you like fixing vans! Similar Products Used: Toyota Previa -- No comparison. Toyota is much more highly rated in my book! |

Easy handling. Lots of room. Economical price in comparsion with other minivans.
Weakness:
Transmission goes out at 55,000 miles; have to replace head gasket. Leak in passenger side.Has been recalled twice for various problems. Why hasn't Dodge addressed its transmission problem? Why hasn't the Caravan been recalled for the head gasket problem. Customer service is the WORST; they really must not care about retaining their customers. Similar Products Used: None |

What a nightmare! I had this car for 4 months now, first problem I had was the rad which had a crack in the coolant and the antifreeze went into the tramission and vise versa. 2 weeks later I did a diagnostic and needed a new solonoid and when my husband drove it off the lot, my tramissions then goes out. I bought this piece of @?*% with 90,000 km and after 15,000km this van brakes down just before chritmas! I've lost track of the amount of money that i so far spent. My children will not be getting too many gifts this christmas and this is not over yet. If the people who i bought this van from don't fix it then I will have to go to City Pulse and try to get silverman to help. If that does not work then I will go to a lawyer. I am fed up with fixing this garbage!!! Someone bigger than me, and with alot of money should get a law suit against crysler for all the faulty problems that customers are encountering. Stay away! These vans will put you in further debt!!!!!!!!!!!! Similar Products Used: last car I had was a 91 corsica and I put over 200,000km and it still was good. |

Strength:
Runs great most of the time.
Weakness:
The week end after I bought it (used 42000 miles) I have the front breaks go out, new calipers were needed (common prolem). I have the normal problem with the wipers coming on when not turned on. I have day lights (also my blinkers) The passenger one went out, took it to dealer and was told " dodge doesn't make these lights to come on like that". It went into the shop today because it won't down shift. I will never buy another DODGE again! All the problems that are common and won't be recalled or fixed unless you fork out the bucks........ Similar Products Used: ANYTHING ELSE IS BETTER. So many "common" problems |

Within 3 months of purchase we had a pulley to fall off of the something. They didn't want to fix this even though we had an extended warranty. Then 10 months after purchase $500 for front brakes, rotors and calipers. Then another 6 months later more major work. One month ago, had to have the radiator repaired. My mechanic said the parts had never been fused together (sound like a lawsuit?). Two weeks after the radiator, the transmission dies to the tune of $2000; three weeks before Christmas. Needless to say, I will never purchase a Dodge product again. We bought this vehicle because we have four children and the roominess of the vehicle was very attractive. It was also easy to get car seats into without a whole lot of hassle. In the two years since I have bought this van, I have spent just as much money in repairs as I have in financing. Something has got to be done. I am a teacher in North Carolina and I can not afford to spend the kind of money fixing a heap of junk and take care of my family also. What can we do? Let's help each other find a resolution. PLEASE!!!!! 0 is not a low enough rating for this minivan. Similar Products Used: Owned a Honda that I never had one problem with. Also, an Isuzu Rodeo that I would give the world to have again. |

The room. I have 3 children and we travel all over the U.S. not to mention my children are very active in sports, so we generally have a car load. I also like steping into a vehicle instead of crawling down to get in the car.
Weakness:
We are now on our 3rd transmission and no one can fiqure our why it keeps going out.We purchased this vehicle in Feb.1995 with 12,000 miles on it. We have to take our vehicle to the dealership all of the time because of the check engine light. The rear wipers have quit twice because fo the motor. My sliding door hinges have had to be replaced and now the door is very hard to shut. Both my drivers door and passenger door is breaking away from the frame, I mean all around the hinge. With all of this you would think we are very hard on a vehicle, but we are not especially with a vehicle that cost $18,000. Oh yea, I forgot to mention all the recalls. I wish they would just recall my whole vehicle and shot it. One more thing I forgot to mention, my brakes are going out all the time on the front. Callipers have been replaced twice. The first dodge van we had never gave us any problems so why has the 94 dodge grand caravan SE been such a pain in the neck. I would not recomend this year and make of vehicle to anyone. I have wondered if the sport part of this is the problem. No one can figure out why the transmission keeps going out. I keep asking questions and no one can give me an answer. Similar Products Used: I have driven a lot of different vehicles, but none even compare with how much this paticular one has been a nightmare. I am broke from the repairs. |

Paint peeling, poor plastics used on the interior (constantly cracking) and of course transmission problems. I think the biggest disapointment is the lack of customer respect we as consumers recieve from Chrysler as there is obviously a serious flaw in both the paint and transmission design, yet Chrysler will not help us out. I guess that they are forgetting that we will be in the market for future vehicles. I for one will not be going to the Chrysler dealership to buy this time!! I would not recommend purchasing a Chrysler product for the simple reason that they do not respect their current owners. Once the warranty is off you are on your own, even when there are obvious manufacturing problems such as paint peeling and premature transmission failures. Both of which are well documented on many customer forums and consumer TV shows. Similar Products Used: 1991 Toyota Previa. Triple the km on it as my voyager, no problems to date |
