Strength:
Smooth ,Roomy ride, and neat sporty apperance .
Weakness:
Creeking , Cracking sounds in front end . Replaced breaks at 3700 miles . Strange sounds when changing into reverse . At 52,800 miles, I started smelling antifreeze , which I thought was something minor , Like a hose . I was wrong ! It was a cracked left head . I was stunned since it never ran hot or indicated any mechanical problems . All regular maitence checks where maintained at reccomended times . The estimated repain bill was $1500.00 and right before Christmas. I called Dodge Crysler corporation, and the dealership. They refused to help with any portion of the repain bill . So much for the big talk about high quality and good customer relations . They had a chance to back that talk up and they failed miserably . Fice star performance minus five ! This was my first and last Dodge vehicle . This is a major repair, and is usually associated with older or negelected vehicles , neither applies to mine . I usually keep and automobile for ten years . This Dodge van has got to go ! I would not recomend a Dodge to anyone . It is a "lemon" in the "making" ! Any one that is planing on getting a new automobile , I will make sure I discorage them from Dodge ! Similar Products Used: My 86 Pontiac has over 200,000 miles on it and has never gave me any serious trouble . It is still very reliable . We also have a 90 cheverolet with over 200,000 miles on it, and there are no problems , its a reliable vehicle also . |

Strength:
Comfort, handling and looks. Drives as good as or better than any car I have owned. Could not be happier with performance. 3.3L engine. Excellent vehicle for large families or frequent passengers (friends).
Weakness:
Leg Room. I purchase the standard Caravan instead of the Grand Caravan, which is all I could aford. If you need plenty of leg room or will be using child/infant car seats, I strongly recommend the Grand Caravan. Great Value. I will definitely purchase the same van again. Would love to have the 2001. The 'leg room' issue was something I was aware of when I purchased; however, I chose to live with it to lower my cost. Similar Products Used: Ford Contour; Chevy Trucks(definitely do not recommend the newer Chevy trucks); Oldsmobile Boneville; Ford Windstar; Pontiac Grand AM. Many more features for the money. |

Strength:
Plenty of room. Well designed interior layout.
Weakness:
This is the worst product I have ever purchased. I bought the car new in 1996 and within 3 months the problems began. The car now has only 46,000 miles on it and the list of problems is extreme. In order of occurance: driver's side sliding door power lock jammed shut, glove box support straps broke loose, passenger side sliding door power lock jammed shut, finish on radio control buttons wore off, seat belts constant twist and jam within guides and are near impossible to untwist, windshield wipers go on by themselves while the switch is in the off position (took 3 trips to the dealer to correct), starter failed, front brake pads need to be replaced every 7,000 miles (would you like brake pads with your oil change became a common joke), catastrophic transmission failure (at 37,000 miles - 1,000 miles after warrantee expired!), belt tensioner mechanism failed, radiator fans failed - car overheated, plastic interior trim around sliding door window fell off, rubber molding under windshield peels up at speeds over 50 mph, water pump failed, air bag needs replacement (the car has never been in an accident), horn sounds periodically by itself.... If you are considering a new Caravan I strongly recommend you pick another van. I would never recommend this van to anyone. I wish I could give it less than a 1 star rating. Similar Products Used: I have owned Fords, Chevrolets, Nissans and Hondas and have never experience problems like this |

Roomy, ease of viewing from high seats
Weakness:
Terrible service while under Daimsler Chrysler warranty. My customer "no service" experience while the new vehicle was under warranty includes among numerous other problems: 1) that two different *5 Star* dealers never replaced a leaking overhead valve cover gasket until an independent mechanic examined the vehicle, 2)seven visits each from 1 to 5 hours duration before the faulty intermittent wiper motor was replaced, 3)whining/moaning steering problem never has been eliminated after many many many visits including an overnight stay, 4)air conditioning has completely failed, 5)the control panel for A/C-heat was replaced twice and still doesn't work, 6)cruise control cannot maintain speed when encountering even slight inclined, 7)and the list goes on..... Excuses from dealers: everything is now all right, we have to order the parts, the parts haven't come in yet after 3 weeks, we did the repairs, etc. etc. etc. *5 Star dealers & Daimsler Chyrsler Corporation knows of these continuing problems under warranty. The problems not taken care of under warranty of the last 5,000 miles still exist. After the warranty expired, Daimsler Chryster refuses to complete these repairs. Daimsler Chrysler warranty and 5 Star dealer designation mean nothing in my opinion. Unless the newly designated Mercedes Benz officials at Daimsler Chrysler Corporation in Detroit resolve the lack of quality control during manufacturer and customer "no service" under warranty at their dealerships, shortly Chrysler will be a forgotten name. They certainly don't deserve any stars!!! Similar Products Used: My Chevrolet vehicle required a clutch replacement 3 times, but the otherwise never gave me a problem. |

Strength:
Comfortable, nice seats, easy to handle
Weakness:
Transmission, brakes, tires, and what seem to be very poorly trained repair folks. Had rear hatch lock replaced twice already. Had the transmission replaced in the first 2 months. Still shakes between 25-35 miles per hour. I complained over and over and finally a factory rep came out. According to him, that shake (the sometimes scares the passengers) is "perfectly normal". We now laugh when it happens and announce to our passengers "That noise you hear is perfectly normal per the manufacturer". The brakes will need to be replaced on the next visit (24,000 miles) and the tired all are already shot. I will not buy another one and have told many friends who were looking for vans to stay way from this one! |

Weakness:
have had the transmission worked on twice, brakes repaired twice , still have a vibration that they can not find, console replaced cd holder replaced, sliding doors adjusted several times, paneling on both doors had to be put back on, bumper is still not replaced right, it has been in the shop twice for the bumper, I will be taking it back again. I have taken my van to Charleston Capitol Chyrsler (which is 40 miles from where I live) 16 times, and I am still not satisfied. The service department need new technicians. The same tech, keeps trying to repair my trans. There is no way I would ever buy a van from a chrysler dealer again. As the old saying goes "You live and you learn" Well I have learned, the hard way, but I have learned. DO NOT BUY CHRYSLER PRODUCTS!!! With all the reviews I have just read (about 25) there were 5 that r ecommended the mini van. Every other review complained about the transmission. Doesn't Chrysler listen. Similar Products Used: I traded in a 1995 Corcsica(garage kept, not a thing wrong with it, I just neede more room) I wish I had it back |

Strength:
Plenty of room. Smooth ride. Smooth handling. Excellent fuel economy with 2.5L engine (30 - 40 mpg). Good for hauling passengers and equipment around. Factory installed stereo actually pretty good.
Weakness:
Noisy on road. Parts rattle. Seem to be losing coolant, though engine does not overheat, nor coolant found in oil. Front seatbelts hard for passengers to unbuckle. Anybody who's looking to get what they pay for should pick this model caravan. You're not afraid to rough it up, yet it is still a nice passenger vehicle. All minivans have their problems, and definitely depending on the day they were made, some more so. Dodge Caravans have always paid for themselves for me, and I will continue to buy them as long as I need their use. Similar Products Used: 1984 Caravan, 1991,92 Ford Aerostar |

Strength:
Runs beautifully - everything works great!
Weakness:
Had some radiator overheating issues early on, as we live at 7500 ft. Dealer replaced at their cost. I see two camps - those who had a nightmare and those who really never had any problems. I have had a great experience - must be a "Wednesday" car! Still, it sounds like it's a hit or miss proposition. Similar Products Used: All other vans |
