Strength:

Roomy, Comfortable to drive

Weakness:

I purchased a 1988 Plymouth Grand Voyager LE, and it was the worst vehicle I have purchased. I purchased it used, but with very low miles. I started having problems with it within 6 months. If this that went wrong was the Aluminium Heads Warped, which over heated the engine, and blew the block heater out (this was a 3500.00 bill.....not covered by Dodge (since I had the van 6 months). Next went the power steering, then the rack & pinon, then the brakes, and the "tailgate" latch, then the master cylander. This Van in less then 1 year cost me over 5200.00 in repairs. All repairs were done at Dodge. NOW to top this off, 1 year, and 2 months later....guess what.. the rods were knocking, and the head gaskets warped AGAIN. BAD VAN!!!

I would NOT recommend anyone purchase a 1987-1988 Plymouth Voyager, after speaking to a Dodge Dealer, they stated that this year of 3.3LT V-6 engines had MANY problems such as I had been experiencing.

I now own a 1990 Dodge Caravan SE...we just purchased it from a nice couple, and it has VERY low miles, we finally desided after 10 years to try again. Let's hope this one is better

The '89 is quite durable in spite of many repairs, my son is a mechanic.Good for moving and hauling with seats out. Breaks down but never quits. Can't drive it into the ground!
The 1996, I've had 5 days. Very attractive, roomy. Love the look of it.

Weakness:

The '89, bought at auction replaced transmission with rebuilt one for $900 total, replaced fuel pump, water pump but runs o.k. quite durable. Door motors are gone.
The 1996, had it about 5 days, slide door won't lock or maybe it's me. I will get the warranty after reading all of these reports. I have owned Chevys. We've a yard full of Monte Carlos and I've owned Nissians but economically speaking and my kids are gone, I'd get another lemon for the joy of tinkering with it(smile).

I will be paying about $16,000 for the '96, which is really too much but I am a woman and you know how that goes, it's a man's world.
I paid $4800 four years ago for the "89. Had about $2300 worth of work but have really gotten my money's worth out of it. Fits the Grape Vine to Bakersfield like a glove. Hit Oaklawn and San Franscico, scared of breakdown but never happened. My boyfriend used to curse the van a lot but it takes the licking and keeps ticking( know whatta mean?).
Older couples should buy it, it is a delicate product in my opinion.
I'm in class so you can take this or leave it(not supposed to be doing this. I'm 54 yrs. old).

I would advise any one interested in a Chrysler product to back away from the vehicle. Chrysler is known for only two things designing beautiful cars and historic quality problems. This is my second attempt at owning a Chrysler both were disasters

i like how you are high up and can see everything better than you can from a car. i also like the amount of space inside....very roomy.

Weakness:

i don't like the fact that there are so many recalls, and that something always needs fixed, or replaced.

i paid $8000 for this van. i would not recommend it because of of the reputation with transmissions. not only have i replaced the transmission, but my head gasket also blew last winter. this van has nickeled and dimed me to death already. there is always a problem. the a/c doesn't work either.i plan on just running it into the ground, because i don't have the time, or the money to have it in the shop every week. the outside may look nice, but the inside is another story. also, the recalls are ridiculous. i'd say it's not worth it unless dodge plans on revamping in the near future which i doubt.

Engine provides great acceleration in all conditions. Very roomy and comfortable on the inside.

Weakness:

It's a minivan (or the world's largest wedding ring, as the joke goes).

We had a 1993 Voyager with 146,000 miles on it. A very reliable car. We had a transmission that went bad in the first few months, and since then it's been very dependable.

Upgraded to a 2000 Grand Caravan with all the amenities, including a 3.8 litre V6 engine. Terrific power, great room and very comfortable.

It's roomy and very convenient. Comfortable ride. No mechanical problems but see review below.

Weakness:

Needs better storage area in back floor. Something that would cover small items on a cover. Battery died at 16,000 miles. They said it had a bad cell. They replaced with no problem. There is a terrible odor in both front doors. It smells like mildew/mold. They cannot find where it is coming from. Drains are not clogged buy have been cleaned and cannot get rid of smell. HELP! Can anyone get back to me if they have had this smell problem and what was done for you. Thanks.

Paid $28,000. A little expensive. This is a great car for a family of 3 or 6. Lots of room. Installed a TV console for better trips with the kids. Lots of storage room. Seats move easily. A little heavy for me to manage but it can be done. Split rear seat would be a major plus. I would recommend this van.

ABS, isn't gutsy but it isn't a crawler either. Information console is a great feature. Gas mileage not great but not bad compared to SUV's. I have no complaints.

Weakness:

Haven't had any great problems but the previous owner took good care of it and had work performed on it. I got it with 164,000 on it Did get the front tie rod ends replaced but with that kind of mileage on it is expected. Replaced front door speaker, expensive but worth it. Could use more room behind the back seat. The rear window shattered last winter, I'm not sure why but it is possible I used the rear window washer and the temperature was about freezing. the glass dealer said he couldn't explain why it did happen but he said other vehicle had a similar problem.

Bought it used for $4000. Drive great and so far no major problems. If needs be I would buy another one. It's a great family car or for someone who may carry several people or animals. With 164,000 miles on it and still running smoothly, I think I'll hold onto it for a while longer.

This is an all-wheel drive model, we have had "3" transmissions, sensors, transmission computer during the last 30,000 miles. Guess what, the same thing happens again! Will not shift out of 2nd gear, mechanic states transmission is bad again! How can that be? There is something else wrong with this picture, something is causing these transmissions to go bad? Why does'nt Chry. research and fix the problem. They don't care, I have called Chry. they make a file number and thats it. NO HELP! Mechanics are guessing?? This is just SAD and PAINFULL

I would not recommend this to my worst enemy. Don't take a chance unless you have LOTS of $$$ and TIME! If you have any information on what is causing the transmission and computers etc. to go out, please email me at klosb4@swbell.net

Powerful when you really need it. Roomy car. Perfect for big families. Very safe car. Wide body makes turning easier than other models.

Weakness:

Eats gas like crazy when driving in city. About 14-18 miles per gallon. Tires are hard to find since they only use these tires for this car and one other model.

This van has very good to me. I don't understand why the other reviews are so bad. I think caravans '96 and below all have transmission problems. The car i have is the highest class of caravan so maybe thats another reason why I haven't had any problems. I have 80000 miles on my car and the only problem i've had is the car overheating. I had the radiator washed and it works fine now. Cost me a couple hundred bux though. This car is good overall but i think it was kind of pricy. I paid about 26000 dollars.

Strength:

Space for the kids and that's about it. A van is a must for my family of 6.

Weakness:

The frequent stop at the dealer for repairs. I bought the car with 25000 miles in december 1997 and the transmision was gone in march 1998. Since the beginning of this year there is always something leaking from the engine or the transmision, today it was the power steering. I can't keep the wheel alignment for more than 6 month. The sliding door doesn't work properly and sometimes I can't open it.

Thank God, when I bought the 1995 Caravan I bought the extended waranty. I will recommand the van to anybody who hates cars and prefer to use their byke. I named the car PD (Pedestrian Dream) When I was at the dealer today I went to see the Montana and the Windstar. I will check their revue later.
Stay away from Chrysler products, It doesn't worth the time and the money.
To frustrating.
