Strength:

Great gas mileage with lots of power! Super nice interior with a great ride. I have no problem driving for long spells in the vehicle. Stereo is great and it has all the room to do whatever I need! Never aligned and got almost 50,000 miles on my first set of tires.

Weakness:

Rear handle broke during normal use. Air bag light periodically comes on whenever I hit a bump. Just had to replace intake manifold gaskets. Apparently they are platic and dont hold up too well.

I have really enjoyed this minivan. Never had one until this so I don't have anything to compare to. It seems to meet many of my needs and I plan on having it around for a while. I like the way it handles and it has not been too costly to keep up. My wife drives it mostly and she is satisfied, so what more can I say! Oh yeah, the leather interior is sweet!

Strength:

drives well when its works properly which is rare

Weakness:

mechanics are horrible, basically everything is breaking down and there is only 70000kms on it.

I am so disappointed in this van. Driving it off the lot it had a dead battery. Should have backed out then. Within 3 months the abs wasnt working properly. Almost hit a pedestrian at a stop sign when the car wouldnt stop. Every fall there is a problem with the wheel hubs so the abs and awd wont work. I live in the mountains and the awd is sometimes a must. First time it went out coming up my driveway and I hit my dog. I was told by dealer it was normal. The automatic sliding door broke last winter. They fixed it under warranty. Now we are at 70000kms and no more warranty and the door isnt working properly again. The brakes have had to be done 2x. The bearings have gone. Back windshield wiper motor is on its way out. The radio blew, in turn taking the speakers. The suspension was replaced just before the warranty was up. And they replaced the bearings again just after the warranty expired with a deductible of $100. The latest problem is the rear passenger balljoint. Loaded all 3 kids into the car and didnt get far down my road when I heard a snap and lost control of the car. The wheel had snapped off the ball joint. I am extremely thankfull this did not happen on the highway. It could have been deadly. And this is after I was assured my the dealer that the car was perfectly safe to drive. Now the car sits in the dealers lot, they "graciously" offered another $100. deductible. I will never get behind the wheel of that car again. Its dangerous and should not be on the road. We are now pursuing the matter with gm. Unfortunately we still havent finished paying for the piece of junk. And there is more stuff, that is just too much to list. I will never buy another gm again.

Almost everything from bumper to bumper.

I will NEVER buy a Pontiac Montana. I have spent over $5,000. in one year on this van and now at 112,000 miles my motor is shot. It must be replaced. I have fix a leak in the head, replaced shorted out circuit boards for my back lights, and numerous other things. One would think after paying this much for a vehicle it would be a good and dependable car.............NOT! I don't trust this van to get me from point A to point B.

It gets me where I have to go.

Weakness:

We have had 6 radio's replaced in a matter of a year and 3 weeks. The light keeps burning out.We had 2 door actuators so far. 4,maybe 5 heater panels replaced because they also keep burning out.The heater part that lets the heater blower work at #1 is blown out. That will be another $130.00 out of my pocket. The engine is making a nasty noise that I can't afford to get looked at. The company was supposed to put better tires on it but ripped me off on that. The cd player works like junk. When I get this paid for,its gone as far as I am concerned. It sucks how a company can rip off a mother of 4 kids trying to bust her butt, and this was my first newer vehicle ever. What junk.

Poor van. Don't buy it.

I will never buy a pontiac again. Dodge,I will see you soon. I had a Dodge that is 15 years old, only had to do the normal upkeep, and even then ,when I forgot to change the oil ,the good ole Dodge never complained. It may be wearing down but at least it made it til it was paid for.

drives like a car, looks good for a minivan

Weakness:

Cosmetics and poorly built...inside and out

extremely poor vehicle cosmetically. The door panel came off, the light on the stereo does not work. anything that is in the interior of the vehicle is extremely suspect. The engine however is not bad, but also not good. The inside will fall apart before the outside does. Paid over 2000$ to fix a gasket leak that seeped into my radiator. The outside does look stylish for a minivan...but don't let that fool you. Vehicle is poorly made.

Weakness:

millions as I mentioned

Very upset to read about other Montanas with the same problems as ours. I thought ours was just a lemon but the repairs seem to be similar. We also have a few extra problems. Our repairs thus far are: - blower motor at 62,000 k - air conditioning problems at 62,000 k - front wheel bearings at 65,000 k - our engine hood has bubbling paint at the edge closest to the windshield wipers, I am told this is from GM buying cheap import metal. Now isn't that a laugh "cheap import!!!!!" - and while we are talking about the windshield wipers, this is the most annoying; during cooler weather and winter the stupid things shut off in the up position, which impairs the drivers view, and dangerous as well!!! - rubber seal on both sliding doors moves forward causing a small indentation in cheap metal on both front doors at about 90,000 k - back lift door inside panel has always rattled and banged over every little bunp in the road, which makes me think the suspension is suspect - our passenger side window sticks sometimes and will not go back up - sliding door behind drivers seat will not lock using the controls or the remote key entry, we must manually lock the door at approx 100,000 k - and now at just 129,000 k our head gasket is shot, leaking antifreeze I am sure that we have forgot a few "little items", especially when the list is as long as this one. Would I buy another Pontiac van, not a chance. Can I sell this thing privately to get rid of the problem, not a chance. So I will return it to the dealership and let them sell it to some unsuspecting sucker like myself and take the hit on the trade in allowance.

Good seats, ride is good.

Weakness:

Rear cathedral seats are in the way when useing the rear view mirror. The road noise is quite loud. The arm rests are too low. Poor mileage and poor airconditioning

The airconditionig does not work properly. When the left air knob is turned from the large blue coldest circle toward the top smaller blue circle, cold air comes out the top vents and temperatures at the bottom are from 70 degrees to 120 degrees. The second complaint is poor mileage. GM advertizes 36 Hwy and 24 city. I get 26.5 Hwy and 18.5 city, 25% less than advertizes.

This is a joke. The sole purpose in buying a new car is so that you won't have huge expenses. Our van is a 2001 Montana, and the tranmission is shot. It will cost us approx. $2400.00 to fix. That's insane! I'm so upset, I feel we've been taken advantage of. Upon looking at other reviews, we've all had the same problems. Is Pontiac even doing anything about these issues or are they just shipping out new vehicles with the same issues. Stop making this van and stealing honest people's money. My advice...don't buy a Montana.

Weakness:

Poor mechanics, Poor Quality, Poor Reliability, Poor Service, Poor Engineering.

Lot's of problems, starting with: Front end had to have work less than a year old. Brakes failed in mountains, ended up crossing HWY but was lucky no one was comming. Front passanger window would stick all the time. roof pannel came loose, Front brakes calapers needed replacing two times. Back brake shoe broke in half. Van Radio light blacked out. Side molding fell off 5 times, rear door handle broke, Rattle in front dash from new. Poor lights for hwy driving, Stiff steering, intake manifold gasket pooched. Dealer tried to stick it to me. Three dealers in town I took it to all played games. They all said that there was nothing wrong when I said I seen antifreeze leak. It wasn't till I went to a private garage did I find out that I had a problem with the manifold. A lot of the problems I have mentioned were not covered by warranty. anything brake or suspension related are not covered. With the front end problem they said I hit a curb, there were no marks on the tires and I have never hit a curb, yet for the part I had to be back ordered two weeks. Tranny problem, mechanic said it's going to cost 2000 to fix. It's a small magnito that Japanise Vans have on the outside of the Transmision but GM put inside. to fix on Japanise van it's 200 bucks on the GM it's 2000 What a joke. Windows Fog up in winter. Doors fit poorly and rubbed the paint off. Felt roof liner if any marks on it you can't get them off, plastic is soft and cheep. If you ask anybody I know they will all tell you I'm a fanatic at taking care of my equipment. Yet this all happened to me. If someone who didn't care owned one I don't think it would last long.
