Weakness:

Image; insurance cost; long-distance comfort

I just bought in March, 2001, a '94 Z28 with--get this--8215 miles on it and never wrecked, as verified by Carfax and by hte owner. It was driven just enough to warm the engine every couple of weeks (I am sure it had a few rip-roaring starts, of course). It was bone-stock, too. It had never been driven in the rain, and stored in a carpeted garage. This car has flawless black paint, a flawless interior, and still smells new. In short, it was a seven year old NEW car.

This car runs like a bear. Stops on a dime. My 5 speed Mustang GT wasn't nearly as fast, and just about as tough on long trips with the loud exhaust and tight suspension; my SHO was a better touring car, but not nearly as fast and front drive is just no fun off the line; and my 73 T/A was fast, but didn't handle nearly as well, and had awful brakes. This Z28 keeps you grinning from ear-to-ear. What a blast. For shorter trips and just having fun, this car cannot be topped.

The exterior looks great. If this car were made by Ferrari, people would ooh-and-aah over the exterior design. Since it's a Chevy, people say it's too high school--an image problem. The newer Z's look bug-eyed to me--the shark-faced cars like my '94 look better.

Get 'em while they're hot! Whether Chevy pulls the plug on the Camaro or not (at last word, they're gone after 2002), cars like this probably won't be with us much longer, between the global warming nuts and artificial gas shortages, etc. Enjoy before they're gone...

Strength:

Lots and lots of power!! Rates very high on fun scale. LS1 very depenable
and the t-56 six speed trans is nearly bullit proof!(Why do you think the the Vipers have the same trany!) Out runs any stock GT or Cobra out there!

Weakness:

The Z28 and the v6 look to much alike. The Z28 should have a more aggressive look that sets it apart from the v6. They shouldn't share the same 16 inch rims. The Z28 should come stock with 17 inch rims, with a different design than the v6. Should also come with more interior options than the v6.

This car has torque coming from everywhere!! It accelerates hard off the line and keeps on going. I don't know about you but I didn't buy this car for gas mileage or for the back seats or for how many people I can comfortably carry! I bought it to be the first one through the intersection!! This car does that better than anything out there in its class. The v6 camaro isn't a slouch by any means, but if you want a REAl sports car buy something with a V8 please! Also not a car for teens!!

Excellent performance. A pure stag slayer. T-tops-you just can't beat 'em in the summer. Mod opppertunities

Weakness:

tire eater, high insurance

I love this car. I don't know why everyone is so ignorant and think a stag (mustang) is a better car. it's not even close. ok stereo, I like the speaker location. T-tops are great. only complain is that thos car is a 5.0 magnet. Every cop within a five mile radius of your car will be on your ass at all times. seems like i get pulled over for just being alive and owning a camaro. Don't buy this car if you like mustangs, because you'll learn alot about camaro's and how much ponies suck. If you are a 16 yr old punk, or just really suck ass at driving, stay away from a z-28, you'll just kill yourself

Model Reviewed: Z-28 Convertible

Strength:

This car is almost all strengths: FAST, beautiful, reliable, sounds great, gets attention, well built, no mechanical trouble at all, better gas mileage than you would guess, infinitely modifiable, readily available parts (if you ever need them), high quality convertible top that's easy to put up/down even at a stoplight. GM finally smartened up on things like easy interior parts removal for aftermarket stereo and accessory installation. I LOVE this car!

Weakness:

Passenger seat not real comforatble on long trips (so I've been told, anyway), some may be bothered by high insurance and gas costs (premium only!). You may be harassed by punks in Mustangs who think they have a chance to tromp you at a light...but I just laugh at them in my rear-view! Expensive tires.

I've owned f-bodies all my life, from a 1968 Firebird I drove for 8 years, to a 1979 Camaro Berlinetta, to my current 1995 Z-28 Convertible. This car combines the strenghts of all past models. I know I was lucky the day I found this car; I looked at many and some were weaker/ragged out. I got a good, strong one. In the 3 years I've owned it I've done very little: oil changes every 3,000, new tires, battery, wiper blades and power window switch (only $12 and 10 minutes to install myself!). That's IT. I'm knocking on wood, but after 77,000 miles it runs like new and looks like new. I couldn't be happier.

Strength:

What can I say? The car is beautiful and powerful which is why its an American legend. It cries out "Look at me" but when it gets challenged,
it replies back "You can't touch me...". It handles well and does everything you'd expect out of a muscle car. Oh yeah...it eats rice rockets for lunch.

Weakness:

Typical F-Body problems: poor wet driving, front visibility due to low
styling and gas. Pig magnet.

I love my car. You don't buy a Camaro expecting a lot of grocery space,
great gas mileage or to be un-noticed...so in that sense, the Camaro
does its job well. You buy a Camaro for performance and killer looks,
which it excels at. Even the stock Camaro comes with 200 horses which
is a lot stronger than most V8 cars (93-97 Mustang GT) and nearly every
modded rice rocket. If you want performance, go with a muscle car...
if you want performance and look good too...get a Camaro.

Strength:

I had a 1992 Z28 camero (25th Anniv.). It was white with black interior. The car only had 35,000 miles on it when i bought it. I was pretty impressed. Boy, the car got tons of looks. It was a definate guy magnet (then again a cute girl with a fast car is any guys dream :)!) The car ran well and I never had any super major problems with it. It drove like a charm. I would not recommend this for a teenage car because someday it will be worth money, but for my first car it was great. Gas mileage was around 24 on the highway and 17 in town. It ran great with high octane gas. The seats were super comfy, but after I put 30,000 miles on it the interior started to get worn. The body holds up like there is not tomorrow. More importantly, there is nothing else like the nice rumble of a 350!

Weakness:

The horse power could have been better, but it was fast anyway. Maintenance was a pain, especially because the car had been garaged for about 6 years. The first to go was the gas tank (there was a factory recall on the neck of the gas tank). Then after that we replaced the muffler, echo cans, spark plugs (twice w/i a month), heater core (which leaked antifreeze all over the passenger floor board), and many, many other things. The downfall is that maintenance is really expensive and parts are hard to find. The biggest problem I had was my censor that controls the thermostat went bad so I spent hundreds of dollars to fix a heating problem that did not exist. However, the car did hold up against bumps and scrapes. I had several minor wrecks (rear ending someone and things of that sort) and nothing could manage to damage the body. Unfortunately someone hit use on the highway and that was about it for the car. I will say though that the heavy door kept us from being hurt (it was icy and the women jumped across from the other side of the highway and hit my driver's side door. the whole side of the car was a foot smaller *sniff, sniff*). I will say, though, that the back glass is shatterproof, but the windows are not. Also, camero dont hold their value as well as I would have liked especially as nice and taken care of as mine was. (the settlement was 3,000 less than what I paid)

I absolutely loved the car! I am trying to find another car just like it. Overall, despite maintenance problems, I think the car is the best car that I will ever have. She held up to her very best till the very end. I think that everyone should, at one point in their life, own a Z28. They really take on a personality of their own. I will say that I like the 1992 model the best because it is shaped a little different than the older models and completely different from the new style. I was told that the 92' was the transition style so it has more curves and the hood shape is different. Anyway, in conclusion, the 92 Z28 is great and I would recommend it to anyone.

Chevy cosica, taurus, and sable. The camero definately had more power. The gas mileage was worse but, hey, it had power. And, the camero is soooo much prettier and holds up better! Weighing the car on a cost-benefit analyisis scale, the car has more benefits than cost :)

Strength:

Doesn't use a drop of gas, diesel, or any other fuel. Does not require other expenditures, like insurance. Is completely safe to sit in.I can sit in it, close my eyes, and beat the pants off every other car there is includin Fairarys, Mustanks, Lamberginys, Stinkrays, Hondissans, and any udders.

Weakness:

1.It doesn't run due to bad engine. 2.It needs enigne work. 3.It needs to be fixed. 4.It literally takes forever to get to where I'm going in it.
5.Broken windshield. 6.Is not as fast as any of my running vehicles. 7.Tires are bald.

This is my first experience buying a car that needed so much engine work. As far as buying a car that doesn't run goes, it twasn't so bad so I figure my dead-engined car purchase was about average...therefore, a 3.
