Camaro Z-28
Strength:
Great acceleration, brakes, handling. Eats Mustangs for breakfast. T-tops are great in summer. I've put 120,000 spirited miles on it,and it's only been in the shop for a window motor and spark plugs. Huge aftermarket performance parts toys for it. With rear seat folded down, it will carry quite a lot of cargo. I gig with a ton of guitar crap, and it will carry all of it.
Weakness:
Changing the #2 spark plug. (Still haven't figured that one out yet.) The front end sticks out a mile and makes it difficult to maneuver in close quarters. No door open indicator lights. Tires and insurance are expensive. Trunk,(or rear glove compartment) is pretty small. Cops love it. $22k for this new in '94, and never regretted it. Best bang for the buck on the market in terms of performance. All of the power of the '60's muscle cars, but with handling, brakes yet much more civilized to live in. I'd buy a new 'SS in a heartbeat if I could figure out how to hide it from the old lady. Similar Products Used: '65 GTO, '65 Chevelle SS, MGB, Porsche 914 |

3.8L V6
Strength:
Acceleration, looks, and handling. This car is a surprisingly good performer for a stock V6. The amount of torque makes for for corners and it pulls strong all the way to the 120 mph governor. The car looks like a shark, and everywhere I go, people are looking at my car. I like the comfort factor in this car. I don't feel like I'm in some feather-weight import that would kill me in a wreck. I like the handling on this car as well. It can be pushed to the edge and doesn't complain. I love long winding roads, and the car eats them up. As far as reliability goes, I drive this car hard fairly often, and it has yet to be in the shop or have a single thing repaired. I can get as much as 370 miles to a tank of gas if I'm on the highway the whole time, but even if I drive it hard through most of a tank, I still get at least 300 miles to it. It isn't whisper quiet on the road, like a high priced luxury car...but then again, it's a base model american sports car. It's not supposed to be whisper quiet and relaxing. I like the fact that the engine growls when you goose the gas, and it revs effortlessly to redline. This car likes to go. Brakes are very impressive as well. Large 4 wheel disc brakes with ABS standard is a nice thing. when I find myself flying up on a redlight a little too quickly, the car has no problem stopping even quicker. I really enjoy the keyless entry and factory alarm. I like being able to pop the hatch with a switch inside the car or from the remote. Very handy. Space is not as bad as it would seem. I can haul 4 people in the car with no problems (longer trips would be a totally different story). There is plenty of room in the trunk well for bags, as well as a shelf in back where things can also be stored. If you fold the seat down, you can fit even large boxes in the car without a problem. It's very versatile for a 2+2 two door sports car.
Weakness:
It is a heavy car, so off the line power doesn't feel as crisp as I expected. I hate the traction control, and it seems to slow the car down quite a bit from a dead stop. If you take a tight corner and romp on the gas, the car will still break loose and fishtail like a rear-wheel drive sports car, so the only thing the traction control really does is slow you down at take off. If they are going to put traction control on the car, then they should make a switch in the cockpit that allows it to be disabled. I would have to say that so far, that is my only complaint. I wish it were faster off the line. I've noticed many of the 2000 models coming from the factory with more horsepower than the camaro, such as the 222hp Maxima with a 3.0 V6. That's just not right...I feel like they should have been able to ring a few more horses out of the large 3.8 liter V6. But then again, it's a good simple engine. You pop the hood and everything is right there, easy to work on. You don't have to deal with a tweaked out, complicated engine with DOHC and hard to reach components. I have trouble finding too many things to complain about on this car. All in all, I haven't owned the car for more than a year, so I'm sure I haven't had it long enough to deal with maintenance problems, but it seems pretty solid so far. I paid 20,000 for the car, and it's well worth the money. I added an aftermarket intake and exhaust system (K&N intake, Flowmaster dual exhaust), and not only did gas mileage and performance improve, but people always snap their heads to see what car is rumbling by. If you can't afford the insurance on a Z28, then this is the next best thing. I'd recommend this car to anyone who isn't hung up on driving those bumble-bee imports. If you like American cars, then you can't help but love the 1999 Chevrolet Camaro. Similar Products Used: 87 Pontiac Grand Am (2.5L 4cylinder) and a 95 GMC Jimmy (4.3L V6). The Pontiac was no comparison really. The camaro makes the Pontiac look like a piece of crap, but then again it is much newer and with a larger engine. The Jimmy has a larger engine, but the camaro still accelerates faster. I've raced my car against a friend's 87 Pontiac Trans Am with the 350 V8, and I was pulling away from him by 40 miles an hour. For a V6, this car is great. |

Strength:
-bone breaking acceleration
Weakness:
Well...the camaro does tend to put a bit of wear and tear on the tires. But that could be due to the fact that I accelerate really really fast from stop signs or traffic lights. Paid about 9 grand for the car. Similar Products Used: Compared to my last cars...a ford probe and dodge shadow...I think this is a huge improvement in terms of performance, prestige and overall satisfaction. |

Camaro SS 30th anniv
Strength:
Lots of power. Handling better then just about anything. Can beat most C4 vette on the strip and in auto cross(don't belive me, come out to retama park every third sunday of the moth and ask for a ride). Every one looks at it(even cops). Extremly reliable, if taken care of.
Weakness:
Ls-1 whoop its stock a**. But with just headers and a k&N it is equal to an 98. Gas milage suck if driven hard. Eats tires(all REAl sports cars should tho) Would i recomend a camaro? NO, not unless it is a SS(super sport) and it was also a six speed. Z-28s just look the same as a v-6 one and so you cant tell the difference really. the SS is just amazing. The new l-s1 are rated by the factory at either 305hp(z-28) or 320(SS) fly whell hp. just about all Z's have dynod bone stock at the rear wheels at about 305 to 310hp. 15% to 20% drive train loss, makes it between 355 and 390hp at the fly wheel!!! then only reson i can think they would underrate it like that is to sell vettes. PLEASE never buy a mustang. the new ones (99 and 00) are factory rated at like 255hp flywheel. stock dyno's show 190 hp at the rear wheels. HA (reference R&T 99 edition) that something to laugh at. i think you know what to get now Similar Products Used: Many stangs, couple vettes, a viper, many ferraris, and i would take this car over ANy of them. Well almost, all except the Ferrari(f50!!!) |

Reliable, good looks, great handling, well worth the money
Weakness:
3.4 litre engine has good torque, but lacks in horsepower I paid only 11 grand for the car 4 years ago. I have taken this car across country more times than I wish to count, and it has never given me any problems. 28mpg going 80mph was a plus. The 3.4 litre engine is a dog, but now the base model comes with a great 3.8 litre engine. If you can not afford the Z-28(great car), definitly get the base model. Those who cannot appreciate a camaro, have no taste in cars. Similar Products Used: 86 z-28,98 Mustang GT(sucks), just about everything on the road |

Weakness:
- cheap interior controls Overall, I love this car. My plans are to never get rid of it. The repairs can be costly. I suggest getting an extended warranty. My car has about 60k miles on it. I've only had to replace the clutch, and get a helilcoil type insert for one of the spark plug orfices. I paid $15,000 for mine in 1998. I would definately recommend buying any fourth generation Camaro Z-28. Make sure you get the option that has the 150 mph speedometer, and the 6 speed manual. It comes with better tires too, 245-50-16. Similar Products Used: I have not used any similar products to compare. |

yellow or orange wasnt offered as a color in 1998 I paid 25,000 and got what i payed for. if you want a car that looks good go buy a mustang but if you want a sports car with power and handling buy a camaro. Ford recently changed the GT and cobra horsepower but still doesnt compare to the explosive LS1 motor in the camaro. If everyone could test drive this car , youd think twice about a few other cars. This car takes out cars 2 to 4 times the price tag with a little more to spare. This has to be the funnest car out there. Too bad not too many people appreciate it and would rather have a trendy/slower car. Similar Products Used: Mustang cobra (looks good but too hard to see in rear view) |

It is not too expensive and it handles real well. I never thought it would go in the rain or snow but it isn't too bad. It's the most comfortable car I've ever owned and I've never had to have it worked on.
Weakness:
I don't like just the regular automatic because I drove one of my friends and it doesn't have as much power. i paid around 2,300 for it and it was well worth the money and I would recommend it for anyone. Similar Products Used: 3000 Gt Mitsubishi and vett |

Engine, transmission, predicitable suspension, most comfortable F-body I have ever owned.
Weakness:
The damn 6 cylinder right next to me looks just like mine and every pimplefaced teenager with their 4.6-4.9 keeps wasting my time. Paid $23,500 for every option save ram-air and traction control. It's been a while since I have enjoyed driving, but this was the car to do it. The new for 1998 550 Marinello like nose and the restyled interior was turned me to the car. The powertrain speaks for itself as this 346 cubic inch engine is one of the three best of the century. The leather helps rid the car of class-less-ness of cheaper Camaros. I think if you have that itch for more speed, a trip online to SLP will be a better move than getting the ram-air package. Don't forget $3,500 of that 4 grand you just wasted went to making your suspension feel more bloated. Similar Products Used: New Mustang, new Eclipse, new Prelude |
