Strength:

RS package Looks Great, the 3.1L really gets up and moves for a 6. handles wonderful, just be careful around turns, give her too much gas and she will come around on you.

Weakness:

the only problem i have ever had with this car was the trunk leaking.

these cars arent worth much money, so you can buy em cheap now and they handle great and run forever.

Strength:

Very though car. The 86 model was the last carbureted 305 engine to be ever placed into a camaro. Does consume more gas than newer models, but at the same time its more tweakable. If you are looking for performance, this is the year to get. Only year to have a brake light mounted in the rear windshield (very nice). The engine can become a torque monster with just a few exterior modifications like headers, intake, ignition, and exhaust. and if you really want a car that STARTS EVERYDAY REGARDLESS of wheather/day/night/whatever, then get a nice manual choke carburetor, hook it to a vacuum distributor, and you can throw your computer out the window. Guaranteed to work EVERYDAY, Ive even taken mine through floods where no other cars can pass, no computer chips to blow, no ignition toretard, PERIOD! ohh by the way, best suspension ever built by GM, more stable than GM's individual suspension found on newer corvettes.

Weakness:

everything on the car weights a ton, heavy doors. If you dont mind sitting low to the floor, then its ok.

Bought the car for $400 from a friend that was moving upstate. Now, for $400 don't expect to get a 13second camaro, its just not going to happen. I had to change suspension parts like struts shocks, bushings, etc, to make it handle better and not kill myself at 120 mph. (i forgot, the speedometer reads 80mph max, but the car actually goes way past it almost to 130 in stock conditions). Minor modifications, manual carb (a must) ignition ++, exhaust - dont make my mistake, i bought heddman headers and decided to have a y-pipe made at a muffler shop which costed me 120 and was the crappiest thing ive ever seen, since theres no space under the camaro. Buy yourself a nice y-pipe, and get the cat-back done professionally, ull not regret it

Model Reviewed: Camaro RS V8 5sp.

Strength:

Great looks, nice interior design, excellent handling, great sounding exhaust note with Flowmaster replacement muffler, easily available parts, reliable, decent power with minor upgrades like K&N air filter, gas mileage is decent for a V8 18-city 26 highway, very fun to drive.

Weakness:

The front spoiler is a bit to low and occasionally scrapes the curb when I back out of the driveway.

I bought this car because I liked the design. You don't have to spend a lot of money to fix it up because it looks good the way it is. My car has the 16x8 rims with the 245/50/16 tires so it looks great just parked. You can buy these cars fairly inexpensively but, I would spend the extra money and buy a clean one that was taken care of.

Strength:

I love the acceleration when you punch it off the line and leave all the other cars in your smoke. The car had 200 rear wheel hp before I put in an MSD ignition/K&N filter/pecesetter headers/power pulleys and to many others to list. Now it has over 275hp. I beat my share of rice rockets and mustangs .A Vortec Supercharger is next up for my ride which should give it well over 375hp.

Weakness:

Not too many I can find except the vision problem. You can't really see the front hood of you car to see how far you are from the car in front of you. No other problems

This car is fast, sporty, and very economical. If your looking for a car that is all of the above than you should get a camero.Parents that are looking to buy one for there kids should really think about it first because this car is very fast and putting it in the wrong hands could be very fatal. over all Chevrolet is the king of muscle cars in Amarica.

Mustangs are the only cars that are similar to the Camero. It seems to me that the two companies are always trying to out do one another when there new cars come out.

Strength:

Good smooth ride. Very comfortable seating. T-roofs are nice in the summer. I get many looks.

Weakness:

T-roofs in rain or winter are a hassle. They leak, rattle when cold, and freeze the doors shut. Doors are damn heavy! Stock stereo sucks. Notorious for bad electrical problems. Careful of curbs and backing out of driveways. Front is long, and will scrape. Experienced problems with locks sticking, exhaust(catalytic converter plugging-->egr valve melting-->very bad power), interior lights (shorted by cigarette lighter), front speakers(crapping out). Not an extremely reliable car.

3.1L is under-torqued compared with 305,or 350. Okay with speed. I am turned off of domestic cars altogether.

compared to '98 jetta, camaro has better ride, less economic though. Not as fast as '90 Honda accord EX-R (then again, what is?)

Strength:

Gets looks - Ttops fun. 1991 and 1992 look much better - ground effects and rear spoiler. Not horrible on gas as you might expect. Predictable handling.

Weakness:

Brakes fade after heavy use. Car feels loose compared to imported sports cars. Squeeky, leaky. Could use more power, although it seemed great when I first bought it.

I have had the car for two years. I have replaced several things on it, but the way I drive I am not surprised. It has been a good car really, but I want something faster, better handling, and maybe better on gas. (Although this car is not horrible - especially on the highway.)
I like the 1991 and 1992 additions; required to make this car look different from the millions of Camaros out there. Gets a lot of looks, but the design is from 82 so it is looking quite old by now. Ttops are fun - and the car is fun in general. I could do with more refined power though, and think that the interiors (and exteriors for that matter) on the post-93 Camaros and Firebirds are much improved. I would recommend this car, but get a good deal on it first.

Similar Products Used:

86 RX7 - a better handling car, with better ergonomics. 83 and 81 Supras could not really compare, although I prefer import-style designs in general.

Strength:

With both the '69 & '97, awesome power, love the seating position, sound, sound, sound, looks....I'd marry it if I could.

Weakness:

Compared to an average car, it has some weaknesses. But for a sports car, there really aren't any. I love it!

When I hop into the '97, it reminds me so much of my '69. The engine roar, the power, seating position, they did an excellent job of looking back into the past. Some people complain about the poor visibility, low seats...hello? What kind of car is this now? Hey, a Corvette is even worse, so be happy. Compared to the new Mustangs, this car beats it hands down..TORQUE, handling, sound, price, looks (to me, at least). As far as build quality, both have their plus's and minus's. If you drive this car and don't like it, you are not a true sports car fan. Or your tastes are too high. This car is for just about anybody...but keep it away from your kids. For some reasons, the rear tires wear out faster when they drive it...

Strength:

My car has power took out original engine replaced it with a Super Charged 350 with Cut Block, Holley Intake and a four barel Holley Carburator. Dressed up in Chrome my Engine will make you say Wow. This car is great when you make some adjustments the originals offer ok horse power but not enough. So far haven't found a car where I live that can beat me.

Weakness:

GAS MILAGE sucks! But this car isn't really a driving every day car it's more of a showing off car. Body parts are hard to find. Not the most comfortable car to drive for more than 3 hours. Cops stare and hondas expect it to be slow.

I love my 78` Chevy Camaro wouldn't trade it for anything. It's a Hot Rod and my dream car. Well worth all my work and money put into it.
