Model Reviewed: Camaro Berlinetta

Strength:

Older model-easier to find parts for it. It is also a GM, so the prices are cheap as well. Rare-although you can see Camaros on the road, the Berlinetta was an attempt by Chevy at a sporty luxury car. The price, therefore, limited sales and production, making it a rare car.

Weakness:

Small engine makes it easy to get your ass beat in a race.

V6, 2.8 Liter, 155hp stock. Although it is a small V6 engine, it is still pretty quick and it can easily maintain high speeds while being easily conrtolled. Rack and pinion steering and racing struts.

Model Reviewed: Chevrolet Camaro V-6

Strength:

VERY strong 3.8L V-6, can easily hang with 5.0 stangs and 94-98 GT's stock for stock. Good transmission, average around 22 mpg. Interior plastics and seats are good quality.

Weakness:

No cargo space, small back seat. Exhaust gets raspy about 4500 rpm with aftermarket muffler.

Good all around car.. Don't get it if you value cargo space, but it's awful nice to cruise with the t-tops off on a nice summer day. The Y87 option upgrades the steering ratio and gets better gearing.

Dodge Avenger, it was a good car but this one is better made and would run circles around it.

POWER!!! I have the stock 350 in it and it damb near flighs! I also have the 6 speed manual It feels great inside and im 6'0" and 200lbs. Feels like a cockpit. NICE SPORTS CAR!

Weakness:

It rattles a little, dash bord seams and door jams mostly. But I take care of most of it as it comes up. Dont let this make you turn away though! Hevan forbid you buy a Mustang!!!

I LOVE THIS CAR. i have had several other vehicals, including a 1990 Camaro. I dont care what other people are saying, a V6 on a camaro is like a mini skirt on a guy, My V8 smokes everything on the road. Not to mention the drag strip near my house (portland international raceway has open drag racing on friday nights). Great Car!!!

Strength:

handling, dependability, roomy, awesome time-tested look, paint job great, actually, the low front seats make long-distance traveling better that SUV on the legs

Weakness:

engine pick-up could be a little better, that hump between the back seats could go, if an adult has to sit back there, its possible but uncomfortable

We love our Camaro!!! We walked away from a major wreck in 1996 that did $13,000 damage to the car with no more than an airbag burn to the driver's left arm. It was fixed by Chevy and has been perfect ever since. I can't say enough about its handling and dependability. Even with two children/two car seats in the back, we have plenty room (way better than the Mustang). I thought because I was getting the cheapest model, I would be getting a cheaply made car. Not so. It was my first new car and satisfied my longing for a sports car. We are thinking about selling it for a new Cavalier, but after reading the reviews about the Cavalier, the Camaro with 119,000 miles might be more dependable.

Awesome look (girls love it)and cockpit like interior make it fun to drive. The base 200hp is more than enough to make the honda civics cry to go home crying.

Weakness:

Back seats are rather cramped and the doors very long, but this adds to the sporty feel. It is kind of hard to find performance parts becuase they stopped making camaros in 2003.

Pretty much the best looking and highest performance you can get for less that $20K.

Strength:

Power. Not bad fuel economy for a 5.7L V8. Better than Ford's 302 Mustang V8. Good handling for a muscle car. Good stability upto 120mph. After that it gets a little loose. Took it upto 167mph after it was modded. I'm still alive. If you want the most power and best fuel economy in its class, this is the car for you.

Weakness:

Eats alternators and starter motors like candy. Insulate/heat shield the starter motor. I've broken everything on this car at least once. Routine maintenance is a MUST!! Expensive replacement parts. Make sure you put aside $500 or so in case you break something.

I've loved this car since the day I bought it. Great power. But if you get the dreaded "stumble" good luck diagnosing it. When it was stock I smoked modded mustangs. Its a 383 stroker with 470hp now and it humilates Vipers. All this on the stock block and ported stock heads.

Everything

Wonderful automobile. When one drives this car, you don'[t even need to race, simply bark a couple of times, and there will be no competition. But, I am experiencing a few problems. After shifting into reverse, and starting to back up, the transmission slips out of gear. It ususally only happens after driving to a destination and parking. Has anyone experienced this problem? Or sometimes shifting up from 2nd to 3rd, it is like getting over a rough hump, and sometimes the clutch gets stuck mid way after being released. Simply pull it up and all is ok, but this should not be neccessary. I am waitng for the warrinty to kick in to get the tranny replaced, if necc., but it may be a simple adjustment. If anyone has experienced problems similar to these, please provide me with an ideal fix. Your input s greatly appreciated. Other than this, an excellent car.
