Strength:

Corners like it's on rails, yet still provides a smooth ride. Very comfortable... I'm 6'5". Powerful, beautiful, pure fun to drive. Came from the factory in perfect condition. No problems at all.

Weakness:

No complaints. The cup holder is a little shallow. I make sure to use sealable drink containers just in case.

Pure fun! For all I read and prepared as I waited for my car to be built, I was not prepared for how much fun this car really is once you're behind the wheel. It rides smooth yet corners like a dream. It has lot's of low end V8 power yet winds up smoothly too. The power just keeps coming, and compliments the light-weight nicely.

It arrived from the factory in perfect condition. It's beautiful. This new Corvette, especially with the '01 refinements, is head-and-shoulders above the rest. GM took care to do this Corvette right. You can spend more, but you won't get a lot more.

I previously owned an '89 Corvette. It was fun, but I eventually sold it. This one is a better in every way. It's a keeper. It's like a surf board for the highway, if that makes any sense.

This is a flashy 2-seater sports car with serious power and handling capabilities. Yet it also has Active Handling, Traction Control, AntiLock Brakes, and lot's of other safety features. An interested buyer will make fun a priority yet consider safety a top concern.

If you don't want to be noticed on the road, or don't want to worry about finding "good" parking spaces, or need more than two seats, then the Corvette isn't for you. (Or maybe it's just your weekend car, like it is for me.)

Was considering a BMW M5. The M5 is a very nice car, but a little bland looking. Definitely a wolf in sheep's clothing though. Very high quality. I decided I would be too nervous about it or the vette for daily use. Just a personal hang-up. Bought a different daily driver plus the vette as my weekend toy.

The C5 generation Corvette is the best yet. From the design that says "Move over I'm coming" to the 'world-class' performance, the new Corvette is an awesome machine. The C5 competes with cars costing double, triple, & more.

In addition to the power & handling, the car has ABS & an active handling package that includes traction control. This package of system controls helps provide assistance during those 'spirited' rides &/or emergency conditions when some other cars would be headed into trouble. The 2001 allows the driver to switch to 'Competitive Mode' on the fly.

Just think, this 'new generation' Corvette sportscar gets 25-30+ mpg on the highway. Plus ride comfort in exceptional for a sportscar & yet firm enough to take curves in stride. In 36 years of driving, this is the best car that I have ever driven.

Anyone who seeks a car that provides performance, style, comfort & reliability... this Corvette is for you.

The Legend Continues! What other sports car has been around since 1953, with uninterrupted production, and has had a following at the level of a real American icon? Answer: NONE! There's a reason for that. The engineers and designers at GM know their customers and how far the technology can be extended. Customers come back for more, year after year, when the technology and power improves.

Backing out of the garage and at low speeds, the car sounds tame. Push down on the accelerator and the aluminum LS1 beast comes alive. It sound mean!

The car is not for the soccer family during the week. It is for the parents that want to get away from the kids on a weekend of site-seeing and the feeling of the open road. You're a candidate buyer if you've always wanted the feeling of power, styling, handling, and pride of ownership.

I knew I was going to buy this car after I bought my 1980 Corvette. When the generation 5 (C5) came out in the model year of 1997, I started saving my money. This is the car I've wanted all of my life.

It seems everything is run by computer on this car. This can be intimidating for the person not familiar with a home computer. In no time at all, you will feel comfortable operating the Driver Information Center (DIC).

The low profile can be difficult for the mechnics that don't have a maintenance pit but rely on the older and higher hydraulic lifts. They may not fit under the car. You have to be careful anyway because of the aerodynamic panels placed under the car to achieve .29 coefficient of drag.

I was surprised by the fact that gas milage is better than my SUV in mixed driving conditions.

I'd drive it everyday if I could but I would be afraid of the jealeous nature of some folk that can't stand another person having something better than they do. To that end, it is never out of my sight or locked up in my garage. It's perfect in everyway and I intend on keeping it that way for years to come.

Weakness:

run flat tires are a bit noisy a highway speeds.

the C5 corvette is a very balanced car to drive.

the styling of a '98 pace car makes it stand out wherever you go. people either hate it or love it! but it is unique and represents the one of the greatest races in the world, The Indianapolis 500.

Compared to the vehicles listed above, the corvette just BLOWS THEM AWAY!
there is a heritage behind the corvette that goes back almost 50 Years! none of the other cars listed above, with the exception of porsche, can claim that. yea the viper has more horsepower than a stock vette. but for the difference in price between the two you could increase the power of the vette and still blow away a viper for less money!
Corvettes compete with cars that cost more than twice as much and uasually out perform or equal their performance.

plus..... IT'S A CORVETTE!

Strength:

This is by far the best American sports car built. Seat of the pants performance combined with awesome handling make Corvette one of the greatest cars on the road. When you compare the Vette to some of it's closest competition...Porsche, Viper, Cobra R...you see the numbers are pretty close, until you get to the price. That's where the Corvette blows them out of the water. All you have to do is drive one and you'll be hooked.

Weakness:

Couple of minor mechanical problems that were solved quickly by the dealer.

I would recommend the Corvette to anyone. Tie the 350hp 5.7L V-8 to the 6-speed manual transmission and you've got not only a civil daily driver, but a beast that can pin you back in your seat anytime you feel the urge.

Cabin noise is loud on the highway...

Well, all I can say it is DEFINATELY the best american sports car made for the money. The only complaint I have with my convertible is that the road noise inside the cabin is quite loud on the highway - thats it. It handles flawlessly and is really not even that bad in rain. I got every option available and it truly is an experience.

My last 2 cars were pontiacs and they were the biggest pieces of $hit... I had a 95 Firebird with T-tops and a 97 RAM/AIR Convertible. Both had recurrent similar problems. I must have had each car in the dealership at least 25 times -I am not exaggerating. Both cars were bought new and I am forever done with Pontiac. The Z28 is identical and has many of the same issues the Trans AM does and the Ford Mustangs don't even count! :)

Anyway, the Corvette is DEFINATELY a step up from any other American sports car on the road. From now on it is a Corvette or an SUV! :)
