Strength:

Fast and fun to drive. Corners like a slot car. Comfortable on long trips. OK gas mileage. Room for 2 sets of golf clubs. Heads-up display.

Weakness:

Gas gauge malfunctions (repaired twice). Seat memory (finally just turned it off). Keyless entry on both doors repaired. Steering column locked (had to be towed. Rear end leaked (warped housing). Excessive engine noise (not the performance kind). Terrible service: steering column lockout response: "just hit the wheel real hard right here should it happen again".

Absolutely the most problematic vehicle I have ever owned. When everything is functioning as designed (rare occassion) a perfect car. However, during my 3 plus years of ownership, I've experienced constant problems (see weaknesses). Now that the warranty has expired, I can't get rid of this car fast enough.

Strength:

Strong acceleration, great shifter (non factory Hurst, great looking car, everyone gives you the "thumbs up", great sound with stock exhaust and slightly stronger than stock cam, very reliable, starts first time, every time, uncomplicated to work on, easy parts availability.

Weakness:

Crude compared to modern versions, gas mileage (premium unleaded) is poor. Very noisy, drafty, uncomfortable on long drives, little storage space (due to convert. top), cumbersome to drive in stop and go traffic (not often exposed to that.

This is the first year of the "shark" bodystyle, powered by a 327/350hp engine, mated to an M21(close ratio) 4 speed, with 3.70 rear end. No power options, just the high horsepower small block and drivetrain as noted. Engine is not original, but replacement block is "correct" for the year and engine has been built to slightly better the original performance. Loud and raucous with stock exhaust. Grabs attentions everywhere. A blast to drive, but everything is manual, so not for the beginner. Very strong acceleration, very smooth shifting transmission, really comes alive north of 2000rpm. Car was dyno'd at 229rear wheel horsepower which is about right for that engine in fairly stock trim. Nowhere near the performance of current models but every drive is a nostalgia trip. Maintenance is cheap and I've yet to have a problem getting parts, although some '68 specific items can be hard to come by. Not a show car, but a fairly stock "driver" that prior owner "body on restored" over twenty years. I paid more than car was probably worth, but did so on basis of the amount of work that was done (which was well documented over 15 years). Price shown is in Canadian $.

Strength:

The horsepower and braking. Definately the looks. No matter where you go someone will either stare at you of ask you about it.

Weakness:

none

I have wanted a Corvette since I was 16 years old. Not any Corvette, but a red one. I have one now and it is the best car in the world! There is no other car on the street like it. I agree with someone else's review that I am suprised that you just don't see more of them on the street.

Strength:

Overhead Valve engine. Single cam. 2 valves per cyl. Over 400 ft/lbs of Torque, 415 hp's and 28 miles per gallon. Normally asperated, no gases, a.k.a. dependable. The best Cockpit layout. The HUD is handy. Designed, developed, and made in the USA. Very comfortable even approaching one latteral g.

Weakness:

They should make this car ugly or someting. I get tired of all the jap cars that harrass you when you are driving one of these. So may duped by TV, so little time.

11 thousand miles on the beast and I still can't wait to get off of work just so I can get back in the car. When I was looking I drove Z06 and the Coupe along with several other cars (stangs, bm'ers, camero's). I wanted the coupe because it had almost twice the interior room (13vs24 cf). I'm so glad I decided on the Z06. And really there is lots of room inside for a two seater. I travel a lot and my suit cases fit inside just fine or a huge cart of grocerys. Drilled and Slotted rotors with EBC pads, the lower stiffer springs, chrome wheels, tinted windows, sub woofer, duel K&N's, short shifter and 160 deg thermostat are some the mods that I have done. However it didn't need any of that to be hooked for ever. The engine is very smooth and very powerful. The brakes have saved my bacon a few times (it must be hard to see). Now 415 hp's and 28 miles per gallon. There's no replacement for displacement.

Strength:

power. handling. comfort. styling/appearance. awesome pewter color. everything!

Weakness:

understand the "manual" convertible top with corvette. it just doesn't always tuck away in the most appropriate manner, leaving creases that take days to wear away. while top-down, wind at high speeds is sometimes unruly. have tried every device that I am aware of out there on the market including the Windjammer....but nothing works. Any suggestions?

I had waited my entire adult life to buy a corvette and every single day I ask myself what took me so long. This car is fabulous in every aspect. It is the perfect combination of power, style and comfort. This car was made for those of us who want the absolute best of all possible worlds in the car we drive. You will love this car from zero to 60 and you will worship it from 60 to 120. Thank you Chevrolet!

Strength:

0 - 60 in a matter of seconds without wheel spin., 275-40-R17 tires, 5.7 liter V8, Computerized Engine control, Racing Suspension, Adjustable.

Weakness:

Stiff ride - This is the cost of excellent handling. Later models include Adjustable suspension.

I am a former 1968 Pontiac GTO driver. This is the most fun I have since. I had the High performance computer chip installed, Flo-Master mufflers, 160 degree thermostat, and rebuilt the top end. It has 147,000 miles on it. I live in SO. Cal. This is a daily driver. It is fast, fast, fast. I estimate that I am turning 12 second 1/4 miles. It is a head-turner, Torch RED. The round tail lights and body style resemble the older Ferrari's, beautiful lines. Handling through the curves and braking is outstanding. The stereo is outstanding. My next purchase will be a 2001 C5 6 speed Z06. Nothing else comes close, not even the 2004 Pontiac GTO. And the brotherhood where Vettes don't race Vettes shows respect for the "King of the Road". The Corvette wave is alive and well. Long Live Corvette and Corvette drivers! (Wave!! Smile :)

power and looks

Weakness:

The corvette is the best car on the street. It looks really fast and powerful from the back(cause thats all other cars are going to see) It puts BMWs benz, hondas, jags to shame. The engine is huge, 350 horse power, great curves. the only unanswered question is why doesnt every body have one? If you put the Lingenfelter Super charger on its another 100 horses, for only 10 Grand. I have said enough, except for long live chevy

Power, awesome looks, great buy

Weakness:

ummm, none what so ever

This car is great! 345 horse power can beat anybody on the road. Looking from the back(cause thats all other cars are going to be looking at) is really fast. The inside is a little cheap looking, but no big deal. For the money you CAN NOT buy a better car. It will put a BMW to shame. Annihilate any honda, benz,(unless your willing to spend 100,000) jags, or mustangs(cobra). Long live corvette.!

Strength:

V8, strong cornering, power everything!!!

Weakness:

Hard shocks, tight engine spacing for maintenance

Had this corvette for over 8 yrs now and it's still going strong. If you never own a corvette I suggest you give one a try and see why it's America's number one sport car. Bought it off from a dealer who was driving it on a regular basis, but had problems with it, he said he couldn't figure out what was wrong with it, he replaced the battery, the alternator and complete tune up, but still the vette died out on him. I told him I was interested and wanted to test drive it and see. After the first key turn, I automatically knew what was wrong with it. I told him I'd give him $14,000 for it, not bad for a vehicle only 7yrs old with 34k miles on it during the summer of 1995. Sorry to say, but the dealer didn't know much about cars. He gave it to me at that price, took it home and replaced the fuel filter and WAZOOM!!!! The vette came alive!!! I must say that I will keep this baby til it completely dies on me and that won't be for a long, long time. I keep great maintenance on this and you should if you own a vette, otherwise you'll be spending alot of your hard earn cash fixing it. No modification except split fire plugs and synthetic oil. Changed the battery once and replace the tires once. Other then that it's a weekend car and stays in the garage most of the time til summer hits and I then drop the soft top and cruise, you should see the looks I get even for an 89 Vette. That tells you that Vette are always a sight to see at all years, even though one day I'll get me the new C5, but for now I still love my vette and not looking to trade it anytime soon.
