Strength:

handling, looks, value, parts cost, ease of repair, support and info avail.

Weakness:

brake rotors, brake rotors, chews rear tires(even when driven nice),squeaks and rattles, electronic gremlins(dash auto dimmer photo eye failed(solder a jumper accross it and be done with the problems)) ugly interior, ugly rims on some years, weak A/C and heater(want a cadillac, buy a cadillac)(or a 928 Porche),did I mention the Brakes?.

1988 L98 Vette, I bought the car with only 70,000 kms on it from the proverbial"old guy" who had owned it since new was not to happy with the performance of the car when I got it so I did some research on what to do. I installed borla cats, changed to 3" true dual pipes and installed a modified set of 2001 C5 mufflers after a 4" h-pipe set up(to reduce exhast resonance), installed a jet chip(the hypertech chip is junk) did a lingenfelter mod on the mass air flow(bumped it from 435 cfm to over 750 cfm) went to a smooth air tube and cut the front off the air box(with a k&n filter) put in a set of msd wires and a accell coil(looks stock if you cut out the aluminum cover) and installed a set of injuectors from a different gm engine(secret;))(higher flow rate cheaper than stock vette parts). sounds like alot but it really did not cost much, car was dyno''ed at 294 rear wheel and it eats most other C4''s(ZR-1 not included), made the car Way more fun to own, enjoyed beating fleets of punks in 5.0 stangs and all the bock bock rice burners(EVERY ONE including a NSX) with some work one of the best bang for the buck cars around. Sold car for $15000 after I put 100000 kms on it and drove it for 5 years($1000 more than I paid). makes for cheap fun. oh ya only problem I had was the Mass airflow relay, would cause erratic idle(full rich!) stalling and a hesitation(but only once in a while), found a hidden GM service bulletin r.e. 87-89 relays(all gm cars with TP injection) $14 fixed the problem(I think this is why the orig owner sold the car). Bilstien(sp?) replaced shocks for free with 135000 kms on car.

Strength:

Power, exhilerating to drive. Reliable and good fuel economy.

Weakness:

Alittle rough ride, C5 rides much better.

This car was purchased 3 years ago with 50,000 actual miles on the odometer. Great car, I''ve owned several sports cars, but this car feels like a sports car. Excellent handling and acceleration. I like the clam shell style hood and wish they had used that design on the C5. The car has never been in the shop for repair ( only oil changes and mntnce)

Strength:

The 405-bhp Z06 powerplant is the finest pushrod engine on the planet. It can lope along @ 40 mph in 6th gear without a trace of misbehavior. But drop the hammer and ETA''s of 4-flat 0-60, 12.3 1/4 are not unlikely. Handling is superb for such a large car. And the ride is taut, but not overly harsh. The 6-speed manual is excellent, with smooth action and excellent clutch feedback. Excellent reliablility. Roomy and comfortable for a 2-seater. 26 mpg on the highway.

Weakness:

If there''s any drawback to this car, it would have to be the INTERIOR! GM should''ve put a few extra hundred into this car''s fit and finish. The leather wears poorly and so does the switchgear after 20,000 miles. This is a 46K car, it should be treated as such! Visibility is obviously not very good. I feel that there is a market for a stripper Z06, w/cloth seats, manual controls, stiffer suspension, and no radio for use as a club racer. The price could be docked by 10K and the car could be used to revive the fabled L88 moniker. Bob Lutz, are you reading this? Always attracts the wrong attention (cops, thieves, punk kids in hot Civics, ponycar owners et al)

Before you think I''m some inbred backcountry mullet-sporting hick, let me tell you this: I am a traditional import buyer that swears by Japanese product. My 2 other cars are a ''01 Nissan Maxima and a ''76 Nissan 240Z. Before that, I''ve owned a ''93 Miata, a ''93 300ZX Turbo 2+2, a ''85 RX7, and a ''96 Accord. However, despite all this, I have always desired the Corvette. And after testing a bevy of foreign and domestic product, the Z06 was still the only car to stoke my performance desires. Finally! An exotic-beater for $46K. A car that can thrash 99.9% of anything else out on the road, yet is surprisingly civil when not driven hard. And of course, it does so with style. ^_^ Buy this car and see the legend for yourself.

Strength:

Power Braking Handling Comfort Millenium Yellow color I love the HUD Best car for the money out there.

Weakness:

I was giving a friend a ride the first week that I had it and the engine just stopped! VERY EMBARASSING! It turns out that an oil sensor had gone bad and the computer shut down the engine because it thought that there was no oil pressure. Since that problem was repaired everything has gone AOK. Maybe doesn''t garner the respect it should from the European Car Crowd. I''ve seen it described as a "red neck" car, but it certainly performs as well as Porsches costing MUCH more.

Very refined and comfortable. Drives just like a docile grocery-getter around town. Just a little lope to the idle to let you know it''s a sleeper. When you push down on the throttle and get over 3000 RPM, things happen real fast. Kinda like warp drive on the Enterprise. Handles very well, but doesn''t ride too roughly for a daily driver. The brakes are phenomenal. Excellent stopping power and modulate very well. I haven''t had a chance to take it to the track yet so I haven''t really had a chance to wring it out. I drive a 420 RWHP 1990 Mustang with full road race suspension and brakes at the track and I think that, in the hands of a good driver, the less powerful Z06 would turn in faster lap times. And it has air conditioning, leather seating, a nice stereo and gets great gas mileage too!

Strength:

- best sportscar value on the road - amazing power and handling - Offer many great options - Beautiful Car! - great BOSE sterio, leather interior rocks - HUD was great - AMAZING truck space (2 sets of golf clubs in the back and the removable roof fit in the back) - Better than NSX and Viper, but half the price - Active handling saved my life many times - 6 speed rocks

Weakness:

- tires are VERY VERY expensive and GM couldn''t balance them properly, but the fine car service centre did - GM service can be shotty - water leaked through window seals - removable roof cut through rubber trim 3 times in 3 summers - water poured into car when lifting the back hatch - HUD produced windshield glare from noon sun - Variable dampening was a waste of money

Simply the best dollar value for a top sports car on the market!! - Price in Canadian dollars with $10,000 in options Very happy with the purchase, but recommend having a second car at all times. GM could fix a few design issues to greatly improve the offering. (listed below)

Strength:

HUD! - Head’s Up Display. “You don’t see many of those European cars with it!” Oil changes every 15,000 km’s (9,320 miles) Handles bumps on the road fantastically – Comparable to a mini van. Great luggage space – With the top down I get two sets of golf clubs with pull-carts. With the top up I fit four hockey sticks and two sets of gears. Very little wind movement in occupant area and very low wind noise (ease to have a conversation while doing highway speeds without yelling). Attention getter of course!

Weakness:

Convertible top when has started to wear the paint where it sits on the back deck. I believe a compass (i.e. perhaps in the rearview mirror,) would be a great addition. The truck release doesn’t always popup all the way making it difficult to open. With the automatic, the “take-off” isn’t too impressive, but the gear-to-gear shift makes up for it. Some wind noise at about 120 km/h (75 m/h) when the top is up. Rarely compared to vehicles in its price range – Usually compared to vehicles whose price would often exceed the sum of a VETTE, an S.U.V. and a boat all put together.

2001 Millennium Yellow - Automatic. This is truly I great car. It is easy to do the math when compare it to the European competitors who require complete engine tune-ups every other month! Perhaps European Engineers and Designers need better resources to produce an engine for durability and not just strength. The Corvette has been masterly orchestrated to produce a machine that truly delivers reliability, consistence and power that even turns heads even when it’s dirty!

I AM 55 YEARS OLD AND HAD DOZENS OF FAST CARS BUT NOTHING LIKE THIS. 405 HP AND FELLS LIKE IT. WHEN YOU READ THE TESTS ON IT AND THEY TELL YOU THAT IT PUSHES YOU BACK INTO THE SEAT THEY ARN''T KIDDING YOU ACTUALLY FEEL THE G FORCE, THE LT1 WAS A GOOD MOTOR THEN THE LS1 WAS PRETTY IMPRESSIVE AND THE 01 Z06 WAS UNBELIEVABLE BUT YOU HAVE TO OWN A 2002 ZO6 AND BREAK IN THE MOTOR AND THEN START DRIVING IT FULL THROTTLE TO REALIZE THE POWER THAT THIS MOTOR HAS. IT IS LIKE A DRAG STRIP CAR WITH AIR THAT GETS 28MPGAND YOU CAN DRIVE IT IN 6TH GEAR AT 40MPH. IT HAS SO MUCH TORQUE YOU CAN HAVE IT ANY GEAS AND NOT LOPE IT. IT CORNERS 1G ON THE SKID PAD AND THE VIPER IS .98 -- IT STOPS FASTER FROM 100 MPH TO 0 THAN A VIPER AND AND THE BEST ROAD TEST I HAVE READ IS 0 TO 60 IN 3.7 AND 1/4 MI IN 12.20 AT 118 MPH THAT IS EQUAL TO OR A LITTLE FASTER THAN A VIPER.AND THE VIPER IS 488 CU IN NOT 350 ALSO I PAID $40,000 LESS. IF YOU TAKE OFF THE TRACTION CONTROL ON THIS CAR AND ARE NOT A QUALIFED DRIVER YOU CAN GET IN TROUBLE IN A HURRY THIS CAR IS FAST !!!!!!! YOU REALLY NEED TO READ A FULL ARTICLE ON ALL THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THIS 2002 Z06 AND THE OTHER 2002 CORVETTE''S ALMOST EVERYTHING IS DIFFERENT EVEN THE FRONT AND REAR WINDOW GLASS --IT IS THINNER AND STRONGER TO SAVE WEIGHT. OH YES I BOUGHT THIS AT 42,900 BECAUSE I AM A GM EMPLOYEE

Strength:

POWER, HANDLING, HIGH COOLNESS FACTOR. O.K., IT''S AN OLD BODY STYLE, BUT IT''S STILL A VETTE!!(MINE''S CLEAN,LO MILES and YOU SHOULD SEE IT WITH THE TOP OFF!) I''VE HAD FEWER MAINTENANCE PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR THAN ANY OTHER VEHICLE I''VE OWNED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A TOYOTA TRUCK. MILEAGE BETTER THAN YOU WOULD EXPECT(AVE. 28 MPG HWY).

Weakness:

Some cheesy interior parts and a couple of rattles which I''ve been able to silence cheaply. Weatherstripping seems to have aged prematurely.

I LOVE this car. Yes I know it''s not in the same league as the C5, but DAMN is it FUN! Of all the cars I''ve had (Camaro Z28 ''82&''93) and other sporty cars (with the exception of one truck) since I got my license in ''81, none of those were even close. I can''t wait to get my hands on the wheel of a Z06.

It''s little 16 yr old wanna be punks like the turd smoker who wrote this review below who bring down the scores for such a wonderful car!! This little s-h-i-t stain probably doesn''t even have a Honda civic much less an Acura NSX or Porsche!! I love nothing better than going out on a friday night and searching for those little pukes in their little Honda buzz bombs and smoking their asses in my vette!! I couldn''t even count how many of them I have chewed up and spit out like a $5 w-h-o-r-e on a used condom!! They are all talk like the loser below but when it comes down to sitting at the stop light or running thru the corners all you will see of those little punks is a quickly fading view of their headlights in your rear view mirror. Go home little boys and some day when you move out of mommie and daddies house and get a real job MAYBE you will be able to afford a REAL car such as a Corvette!!! Till then, see your punk ass at the next stop light and by the way, while we are sitting there admire my beast because all you will see of it soon as the lights green is rapidly disappearing tail lights!!! "Corvettes are the worst of all sports cars. My Acura NSX and Porsche 911 twin turo will kill this car. The corvette is even listed as one of the top WORST used cars along with a whole bunch of other "Made in the US" pieces of crap!!! If you don''t believe me then go to Yahoo auto''s section and check out the consumer reports. Then tell me why 99% of the best USED and NEW cars are Foriegn and 100% of the USED cars are "MADE IN THE US" crap american pieces of trash!!! The corvette is supposed to be america''s pride!! All that horsepower don''t mean crap. It still SUCKS!!! I''d recommend people stop buying american cars and that will force the manufacturer to make better products!!!!"
