Strength:
350 horses waiting to stampede from under your right foot! This car is part of a heritage.Active handling system is one of best in world.Price.Looks.Run flat tires(no spare tire to worry about).Very fuel efficient considering displacement:19 in town 29 freeway.Excellent clutch & gearing combo.Power everything.Excellent stereo.Very low maintenance for a sports car.I could keep going. This scoring sytem only goes as high as 5 stars?-i'd give a big 10.
Weakness:
You will feel the bumps in the road, but that's the trade off for sport tuned suspension. The only weakness if you can call it that,is that they make this machine with an automatic transmission also-to me that defeats the purpose of driving a sports car & you'll miss out on half the fun.Get the 6 speed! Described in many auto magazines as "dollar for dollar the best performance sports car in production"-I couldn't aggree more. This was actually my wifes dream car before mine.I am more a truck guy & still will be in the future, but no truck can come close to the feeling of driving this machine with the throttle wide open.If you like people to notice you(you'll have no choice in the matter-you will be noticed)then this car is for you.I drive this car hard(when i can) & yet it is very forgiving. Some of the "higher end"sports cars are not designed(& you wouldn't want)to be daily drivers-not so with the vette. It's as happy round town as it is on the open road/track. Similar Products Used: Considered the Honda 2000,but there is no comparison really. There is a 10k difference in the price tag,but you get a lot more car for that extra 10k! |

Black Corvette Coupe
Strength:
Incredible acceleration past 1st gear. Fits like a glove and it's obvious the engineers executed a well thought out plan conerning ammeneties. Imagine climbing into a jet fighter in a fully loaded coupe.
Weakness:
the 4 days I have to wait to have the stereo replaced. Active handling sometimes kicked in at the wrong times but it's happening less after break in. Paid $49,000, car was completely loaded with every possible option. Dealer would only take MSRP and rightly so, it was the first 2001 in orange county. $56,000 after the 5/100 warranty, taxes and license. I also had lojack installed for an extra $600. Strength:
Cheap, gobs of torque, handles like a dream, just plain fun to drive.
Weakness:
The sound system was a little on the cheesey side, but that nothing that Crutchfield couldn't take care of... Lordy, you don't know what you've been missing. This car has more bite than a 911, and at the same time, it still behaves quite nicely while casually driving around town. And best of all, it's a hellva lot cheaper than a Porshe or Viper. This car has to be the best bang for the buck that I ever bought. It looks cool too. Similar Products Used: 93 Porshe 911 Turbo, Dodge Viper, 98 BMW Z3 |

Styling, acceleration, handling, active handling.
Weakness:
Stereo could be better, lack of state of the art occupant protection. An American Icon, great handling, good fit and finish. 1/4 mile in 13.3 seconds and my average fuel economy is 22 MPG ! If you are looking for a good value in a 2 seat sports car then the Corvette should be at the top of the list. The C5 is much improved over previous generations of Corvettes especially in the area of ride quality, performance and creature comforts. I love it! Similar Products Used: None |

C5 Convertible
Strength:
Blast to drive, amazing "grin-per-dollar" factor, & the car has been engineered from the bottom up so the Roadster has absolutely NO cowl shake at any speed and is always in control of the horsepower.
Weakness:
EMTs run hard in the winter & are noisy. Stock exhaust is a little tame (but I'm getting used to it). Higher quality speakers & a little bigger amplifier would improve the Bose/Delco stereo. Also, I'd prefer a little shorter throw for the 6 speed... IMHO, this car represents the best sports car value for the dollar. This car handles beautifully inspires complete confidence when driven hard and yet is surprisingly affordable to own. My full coverage insurance (in CA) runs around $560/year & I'm averaging right around 20 MPG (city & highway combined) since I bought it. Also this convertible has a big enough trunk to fit 2 sets of golf clubs (something my buddies and their wives can't take on their Harley for the weekend...) Similar Products Used: The Corvette C4 Roadster did not seem as tight as the C5. The Z51 sports suspension package in the C4 was pretty rough whereas this package in the C5 is fantastic. |

Styling, engine, suspension, convertible top, storage space, handling, acceleration, braking.
Weakness:
Bose Radio, its as good as my boombox in my garage! Run flat tires are harsh and stiffen more in cold weather. The C-5 has brought together all of the best of the Corvette legend. Finally GM got something right. The suspension on this car is not harsh like earlier generations. The performance of the engine is highlighted by its ability to get over 20 MPG. On a drive to Los Angeles I got 29 MPG averaging 80 MPH. When driving around with the top down you know its right. It is not the perfect car. Its had problems with column lock, seatbelt webbing, headlight shroud plugs, and electric window motors. By definition there is no such thing as a perfect car. However, this ride brings it all together. Similar Products Used: I've driven Porche, Mercedes, Acura, and Lexus. Each of these may excel in one, two, or even three of the Vette's attributes, but to me the Vette brought the package together. The exception, Lexus has the best service!!! |

Weakness:
fear of someone scratching/denting it. Because it's a joy to look at, to sit in, to drive, to be seen in, to wash, did I mention to look at...The C5 Corvette puts a smile on your face that just doesn't come off. Strength:
The sure power of driving the world's best sports car!
Weakness:
It could use a better radio. I would recommend this car to anyone who enjoys driving. Someone who likes driving fast on the open road and one who likes the smooth runs through quik and sharp turns on a dime. One who enjoys comfort, looks, fine lines low to the ground style. The only sports car that matters! Similar Products Used: I think it is at the head of the class compared to similar products |

Weakness:
Have not found any as of yet. Just love this car. Its the best value for the dollar. It is either superior or the equal to many sports cars priced far above it. American technology has finally come out with a vehicle that far exceeds many foreign vehicles that are above its price range. There is NO vehicle made anywhere in the world close to the price of the C5 that even comes close to what the C5 gives to the driver in both performance and comfort. Can never have too much HP... would like to see the car get upwards of 450 HP I would absolutely recommend it... If you want a no compromise sports car, this is it! Similar Products Used: Viper, and other 2 door sports cars... all have their strengths & Weeknesses. |
