Ford Mustang (2010 and older) Sports

DESCRIPTION

The Mustang has been redesigned for 2010. Fresh new sheet metal wraps around an updated interior, giving the icon a more modern look and feel.

The Mustang is available either as a coupe or convertible. Each is available with a V6 or a V8. The 210-hp 4.0L V6 carries over unchanged. The 4.6L V8 receives an increase in power - producing 315-hp for 2010. A five-speed manual transmission is standard; a five-speed automatic is optional. Strength:

Increased power, sportier look, simple to modify, serious chick magnet, price(16600 out the door), handeling, fun to drive, etc.........

Weakness:

The police keep their eyes and their radar gun on you. Standard 15" wheels.

My first Mustang got hit by a 84' Cadillac tank, so I had to get another pony. I've driven a 95 and 96 Mustang GT before buying the new pony. When I test drove the 2000, I was dumb struk cause the 2000 was able to hang with the earlier GT's up to 60 MPH. The first pony was an okay chick magnet, but when I bought the 2000, women just could not keep their eyes of. Just to bad the police couldn't keep their eyes of either. Still wondering why luxury car drivers and chevy drivers look at me with envy? Everybody should own one.

Strength:

I love the looks of the FOX body style. Lots of bolt-ons for the 5.0. Engine can handle lots of horsepower with the right set-up.

Weakness:

AOD sucks I had to replace after 95,000 miles, wind noise, lack of power with auto tranny (wished I would have replaced AOD with T-5 when my tranny went down.)

I bought the car used with 72K miles on it in Feb 1998. I believe at the time they were asking $8900. Anyways, I love speed and power and my Mustang just doesn't do it for me. Acceleration sucks and it won't shift into OD at full throttle. I have added a few extras for more power, but it didn't add a whole lot.(flowmasters, headers, power pullies, 3.73 rear end, and K&N Conical air filter) Sounds cool as hell, but If I decide to keep the car I am going to either put a 351W or supercharged "fresh" 302 in it. However, if you are not a speed freak and just looking for a moderate sportscar with average speed and handling then I would opt for a Mustang GT with a manual tranny. This will help you get the most hp to the rear wheels. Plus, in my opinion all sportscar should have manual transmissions.

Look, Interior, Power

Weakness:

Traction in mud, Seat adjustment, 15" rims are small,

The car handles good (I haven't tried all it can do). One should be careful for some time with the sharp and steep turns. The tires and the rims must be replaced with bigger. My previous car was smaller and originally had larger and better tires.
Drivers like me (used to the excellent Talon) and new to the Stang family should do some defensive driving readings to prevent car spins. I use the suggestion to quickly turn the steering wheel sharply in the direction in which the rear end moves which helps me to prevent those spins.

Strength:

Looks sharp, rides smooth, good power, excellent anti-lock brakes, corners flat, no squeaks, power everything, glass rear window, decent space, 25 MPG+, Made in USA.

Weakness:

Minor nits: High seat means the visor is a bit close to my face (I'm only 5'9"), radio not loud enough with top down on highway, small glovebox. Cloth seats are junk pillows, I upgraded to leather seats. Not as drum-tight as a Euro/Japan car, but very good.

$17K with low miles. Yes, I recommend it. Much better than previous years. Why pay more for foreign?

Had a Miata which was a great go cart, but not a real car. Also drove a few earlier Mustang Convertibles ('85-'98).

Strength:

I like the way the car looks and handles.

Weakness:

I had an antifreeze leak, it blew head gaskets after two years, thank goodness it was still under warranty only by 300 mile or I would paid a ton of money. Had to have the hood lock replaced it was defective.

I don't think I will be buying another ford! I have had more problems with this one than my 64. I do like the way it drives but I don't trust taking it long distance. Even though everything has been replaced I still worry.

Strength:

Great fun to drive, smooth handling, surprisingly quiet inside (for a convertible). Great acceleration, and good braking. Also, great styling. I have been stopped on the street and had people ask me what year model this was, as they thought it was so sharp.

Weakness:

This definitely isn't a family car, as the back seat is very small, as is the trunk. However, if you are looking for a sports car that is fun to drive, this is it!!!

I paid about $24,000.00 for my car, which has the upgraded sound system, interior and exterior appearance groups, and larger tires. Paying for the sound system upgrade is really worth it if you get a convertible, as when the top is down, it has enough power to overcome the wind noise.

Strength:

89 5.0 GT Convertible
Lots of Power, even after 10 years
Built like a Rock (for the most part)
Great handling
Tires are the 15", which are still cheap to buy, instead of 17" now.
Fun in the sun

Weakness:

Wind noise
15" wheels are a b@#!$ to clean
Paint job blows
Oil leaks

This car has been great, at 10 years old it still flys past everyone.

I drive it hard and even with 150+K on it, it has yet to need a clutch. It was, and still is, a great car for the money.

It's never needed big service, I just take care of it.

The only complaint is the paint job. It started going away when the car was 4 years old. I went to Ford and other body shops and they all said it was just that paint, nothing I could do about it. Ford knew it was a POS job, but they weren't willing to do anything about it, like they did the Taurus'.

As for the oil leaks, they're normal, I'll get them fixed when I do the clutch.

The wind noise is a drawback when you have company in the car, then it's a strain to talk over, especially on longer trips. But if you use it as a commuter car, where you're mainly alone anyway, the radio drowns all that out.

But now I need to look for a family car, otherwise, I'd keep it.

Great car if you just take a little care of it.

Strength:

Power, good engine, legendary car, low price.

Weakness:

Interior: everything is chatering inside, long runs of the clutch and manual stick, bad road handling.

I bought this brand new car Jan 98 because I was impressed by book of Lee Yakoka and wanted to feel a real American muscle car and I specially choose the manual transmission.
I paid $24K OTD price which is reasonable and I got what I paid for.
Ugly clutch – I hope, Mustang is a sporty car not a big track, but clutch is too soft and its run is too long.
Manual stick shift – not precision, distances between the gears are huge.
Noise – not thunderous noise of engine and exhaust but annoying noise of chattering plastic interior when you accelerating or even listening your music through its sound system MACH460.
Bad, bad, bad road handling: historical car, dependent suspension.
Engine – not bad, powerful enough and smooth.
MACH460 – may be not bad but couldn’t be used because of chattering environment.
Resume: good old timer car

Awesome power, good looks and styling. The Mach 460 sounds great too.

Weakness:

Bad cupholder placement. The shifter hits the cup if you have one in the front cupholder. The back seat is too small for adults to ride in comfortably, but thats not why I bought it. Also, I wish the shifter had a shorter throw and was more tight. Otherwise, an awesome car

I love this car. I probably paid a bit too much for it, but thats because I got it early when there weren't any others around. I paid 22,300 on a sticker of 23,800. P.S. DONT GO TO JACK MADDEN FORD IN NORWOOD MA.

Huge aftermarket
Parts are cheap

115,000 miles of hard driving without a single major problem, yet still does low 14's at the strip in stock form. The motor runs like new and pulls 23 MPG on the highway. The balance between ride comfort and handling is great. Interior is comfortable and dash well laid out. The LX 5.0 is one of the best cars Ford ever built.
