Strength:

I like the looks of the 99 Mustang and the V8 power is enough for most folks. I am a large person and middle aged, but it isn't hard for me to get in and out of it. The handeling is great, but yet the ride is quite good. I get about 25 mpg on the highway with an automatic wheather I average 65 or 80 mph!!! I have had no trouble with it, but I have cared for it with good wax, good oil and let it warm up before I get on it! It is the most sporty car for the money of any make!

Weakness:

It does tend to lose the rear traction when I ride over washboard bumps in the road. I wish I didn't have to make such a loud acceleration when I am driving on city streets and trying to get ahead of that Pontiac.

The trunk is big, but the opening design makes it difficult to get large bags into it!

I didn't realize how heavy the car is (about 3400 lbs.)because I wanted a lighter and more nimble sports car. Don't misunderstand, it handles well, but not like a true sports car. It is more muscle car than sports car.

Overall I would recommend this car. It is fun to drive, looks good, handels well, but isn't as nimble as some smaller, lighter cars. It is especially good for someone who weighs 250 lbs and is 6'3" because you can fit into this car and be comfortable! I am concerned about the other reviews that talk about rust problems and floorboards giving out, but I have not experienced any problems of that nature.

Strength:

Very Quick for a V6, it can hang with any GT before 99( I get rubber in the first 3 gears). Great Price. Good looks. Nice standard exhaust. Big trunk. Good stereo. Nice vision.

Weakness:

Cupholder gets in the way of the shifter, when you sit in the back you hit your head on the back window, unless you are shorter than 5'4". Uses alot of gas 23mpg, and tire tread. Slick in wet. Cops like it. Could be more comfortable. Rev limiter does not engage until 1500 over red line (don't ask)

I would highly recommend it. I have 15.5K miles on it and have not had a problem. It does get bad gas mileage, but it has the power to make up for it. It looks good and sounds good. But best of all the price is great. Nothing else could you buy for 15,200 and get this kind of performance and reliability. Good car for everyone, except someone looking to be the absolute fastest on the road. The new GT's and Z-28 as well as corvettes, supras, etc, have you, but you have enough power to take on just about everything. It is easy to drive and with dual airbags, 4 wheel disc antilock brakes it is pretty safe also. Great car!

Strength:

Gorgeous exteior, nice inteior especially the tan or gray, lengendary name, handles decently for its weight, sweet engine sound, nice speaker system, save a lot of money, fairly warm with top down, 6 cd indash CD player, chicks like mustangs and so do guys, its got back seats, nice comfortable seats, the after market is like no other car, the connection to others who drive stangs (a lot of chickies do, yes), dual exhausts (but so does every other car nowadays)

Weakness:

Too many mustangs out there, cops look at you like you are dinner, would like heated seats on the fully loaded one but no such option, be ready to go to repair shop, make sure to get the extended warranty you know how fords are, back seats tiny but still allright for those under 6 feet, don't be expecting no amazing handling or incredible brakes, hate to flip over in the convertible

Camaro Z28
Cons - Eats gas like crazy, You can only get a coupe with the price you could get a convertible GT mustang, looks don't really kill either, you'll get a lot more attention from guys wanting to race you than girls, not very supporting seats, very plasticy interior
Pros - WHoa the acceleration and the torque, 6 speed manual rocks, decent backroom for a sporty car, lots of trunk space and rear space, nice a big car
Verdict - Seems reasonable to save money and get a lot of horses. Good for younger people but I'd say if I get older I'd have to get me the corvette. It's a dying design so I'd save my money.

BMW M roadster
Cons - Very windy and cold with top down begging for a wind screen, tiny seats, not as good looking as one expects for the money frankly the mustang looks much better, the side grill metal thingies can be slipped off and stollen, plastic rear window is always dirty and bubbly
Pros - Nice and beautiful dual color heated seats, wow what handling, going big league with the new 300 something horsepower engine, still plentyof acceleration in the recent models, very intimidating be expecting to race 911 turbos and vipers (yeah you'll lose but at least they'll race you), smoke may cars like boxsters S, older M3s, and alot more
Verdict - You will get an M badge and a sporty car, but if you want a great handling attention getting mid 40 g's sport car I'd have to go with a corvette for sure.

Audi TT quattro cab
Cons - Dealers are jacking buyers so watch out, looks like a convertible bug, I don't dig tiny engines that lack muscles, too girly, 5 spoke polished wheels are ugly, seats too low
Pros - Gorgeous interior, nice exterior, good handling, girls love this car, has tons of options as standard features, heating system rocks
Verdict - loaded TT is a lot of money but I'd take this over a boxster and save some money too. Your love life should definetely improve too. But as far as racing and fixing it up goes, forget it, it looks too cute!

Lexus Is 300
Cons - Whoa the price!, is that an earthquake or am I in a lexus?, the suspension is stiff but a harsh ride, should be a 2+2 rather than a four seater I could not fit in the back seat (and I am no fatty), looks just like those fixed up Civics, cloth seats
Pros - Cute interior, nice colors, not just another corola look-a-like (actually they copied the 3 series this time)
Verdict - Lexus is sipmly lame, all their cars, whether be the GS, LS, LX and especially the ES do not have the drive and feel you expect for your money. I mean they all look like a corrola on steriod with either an S class headlights (LS430) or the Eclass headlight (GS). If you want a luxury car get a BMW or mercedes, not a toyota. The IS 300 is not worth the money.

Mercedes SLK 230
Cons - Damn the price, ugly and plasticy interior, ugly exterior, looks ugly with the hardtop / convertible top up, sluggish acceleration
Pros - You have a "merecedes", you have a mercedes
Verdict - Buy it if you want to have a mercedes but not if you want a luxurious car or a sport car. I don't understand with their amazing and competitively priced E-class and CLK why they made the SLK so plasticy and sluggish?

Toyota supra
Cons - Not as fast as hoped (even though this was not a turbo), too expensive for a toyota, very tiny cockpit, no back room space what so ever, transmission problems in the initial turbos, steering fells like every other toyota
Pros - Good looking car, the turbo can be easily modified, probabely one of the most attractive Japanese sport cars
Verdict - If you really have to have a Japanese sport car go for it. But if you want a real sport car with a real powerful engine the nonturbo supra is too much money for an out of production car here.

This car is the best I ever owned (4) I Drive at an Auction, and as a Valet, Vipers, Vetts, Porches, and other exotics! So I know cars. This car has it all for the price. I have done some moods, but nothing drastic and the Camaro SS and WS6 30TH T/A can only keep up... Oh the top speed of 140MPH advertised is redline in fourth! Did they forget it was a 5spd? I have taken it to 153MPH but that was on IS635 toward Dallas, and that IS is crazy, The 95 T/A a friend owned had a limiter at 116MPH! Something less than 130? That sucks, anyway I have raced several cars and have only been beat once and it was against a '91 Mustang LX, and his front tires came off the ground?? Ahh can you say illegal. Ohh and Slicks on the street! Hehe

Weakness:

Non, but everyone wants to drive it!

It’s all in the Driver, a GM rates HP at the engine when Ford rates at the rear wheals, what counts! No factory GM accept for the Z06 puts out 300+HP to the rear wheels. But their still fun to drive.

This is my very first car.Yhea it's a mustang and yhea it has a 2.3 liter engine. The car doesn't have bad acceleration of the line but once you put it in 4th it is all done hill from there. The best things that this car has going for it are it's great gas mileage and if you want to talk about reliablity you want to get this car.Mine has 140,000 miles on it.It was my dad's car.HE drove it to work everyday. The only time we got stuck anywhere was when the battery was dead nad we got stuck at sears. It is a great car if you are looking for something that isn't a gas hog and wont break down

Weakness:

power and trunk room. the interior is about as roomy as you are going to get for a mustang trust me we have 3.I am 6 foot one and I am confortable in the driver seat. The back is ok if you are about 5 foot

Reliablity-great
gas mileage-even better.
power-poor
snow-terrible unless you are in a open parking lot and then it is alot of fun.

Attention. Being able to put the top down in a flash making the car feel like a totally different car. Being able to work on the 'old' style motor, as well as the mustang aftermarket-world being so vast. Gorgeous interior (leather). Decent performance..

Weakness:

Top leaks when in rain right onto my left knee!!!

I totally love the car, all of my other cars I've owned for maybe a couple years... I've had this one for a while now and I plan on keeping it a lot longer (especially after all the time and money i've invested into it). Nothing I've driven compares to this car (except my friend's Porsche 911 twin turbo with 1000 hp to the wheels!). When it was stock, it was a fun car and a blast to drive with the top down. After a few mod's here and there it was even better.. Then i went overboard and we should be making 900 hp, and still winning car shows left and right.. If your looking for something that is good on gas, dont buy this.. its ok if you 'cruise', but flooring it a few times will screw up your MPG. The only reason why i'm not giving this car a 5 for an Overall Rating is due to Ford. I will never buy another Ford ever, I cannot stand their service and I never really liked American cars (except for the Mustang and the Corvette, and the Viper too). Also, in my opinion, 5 star rating would have been for a much higher 'quality' car as well, porsche, ferrari, etc..
If anyone's interested, go here to see the latest with the car. http://www.geocities.com/turbosn95

Strength:

The new body design was a great idea. Those who say the mustang was not reborn need to look again. I only have a V-6, but it roars like a macho lion, and I do have to say I have only been beat off the line once (by my husband in a V-8 Ram). I get awesome gas mileage as well as speed. I also get looks all the time and I love it. That's why I bought one- they're fast and they turn heads. Sometimes the heads you don't want, too (cops). Don't buy if that's not what you want!!!

Weakness:

The rear suspension and the cup holders are my only big beefs. The rear suspension allows you too much in the way of slide. Snow, ice and small puddles and your tail will slide a bit, but it can be controlled. The cup holders are too small and too close to the shifter. If you turn a corner too fast, you better be holding your drink in your hand or it will be in your lap or in the floorboard. The latch on the center console did quit latching, but the dealership replaced it that day and profusely apoplogized. The glove box is a little small, but all you keep in there is your insurance anyways.

I have had no complaints with my beautiful 'Stang. This is a car that I plan on keeping, and in 25 years, when it is an antique showing it in shows while I drive a 60th Anniversary Mustang on a daily basis. I test drove Camaros, Firebirds, Grand Prix and many more and then I went and drove by the Ford dealership at 1:00 in the morning and watched them unload this beautiful silver fox off the truck and I knew it was mine. The only miles that i didn't put on this car were the ones they used up backing the car down the ramp and into the detail shop. I love mustangs now and probably will always drive one even when I am a granny.

I have not driven anything similar.
The only other car I have had was a 1988 Dodge 600 (K-car, for those of you who know what that means). That car's speedometer only registered to 80. Not a muscle or race car and definitely didn't turn heads.

ENGINE! V8 Power, and gobs of Torque.
Looks and sounds great, bought it in May 2001 w/ only 28,800 miles on it!
Shifter and Clutch still great, Exhaust still shiny.

Weakness:

No major ones yet, but there seems to be a tiny clicking noise coming from the front somewhere, probably in the vents...Squirrelly handling, but to be expected from a RWD Sports car. Paint watermarks show up, but can be removed...

Awesome car, bought under scrutiny and previous experience with Ford.
Dealership gave me a 12K warranty, and hopefully I won't need to do any repairs any time in the remote (or distant) future...I love the car so far
but am still skeptical 'cause it's a Ford...I love love love the engine and the looks, and It's a great car for anyone willing to drive a 5-speed, cause the Autos i tried sucked...I got a great deal at just under $11K, but even at retail it's got awesome bang for the buck...

Beautiful lines! I have driven in many of sports cars from Mercedes to Corvette to Nissan and this gives you more bang for your buck. I was a little skeptical of buying a Ford but when I test drove this one I had to have it. It makes a great weekend car! Color: Maroon. Tan top and tan leather interior. Steering. 260HP. Rear wheel driven...great Cali Car!

Weakness:

Like the rest...the cup holder. Why did they put it next to the gear shift? Shift could be a little shorter and tighter, but once you get used to it, it's a breeze. Backseats...useless. The previous owner had no engine problems nor did I find any when I requested a vehicle history on it.

I've always wanted a Mustang Conv. since I was a little kid and now I have it. It's not a top of the line sports car, but hey...it's worth every dollar I spent. This is a definite 'head-turner'! The color of the car and exhaust sound catches everyones eye! This bad boy is fully loaded w/ Pony rims and looks sweet! I promised myself to never buy a Ford, but once I got in this I had to have it!

An unbeatable deal for around $20K. It looks great, It has lots of room compared to other compacts in its class, it handles very nicely and the interior is awesome. Looks great in EVERY color available!

Weakness:

no passenger power adjustable seat

The V6 Mustang is awesome. It's smooth and cool looks turns heads everywhere I go. I can beat new Grand Ams, Celicas (GT & GTS), Camaro and Firebird V6's off the line, and I've been an embarrassment to some Z28's as well! It gets better than decent gas mileage and my insurance only went up about $75.00 from a Corolla. No matter what people say, it handles GREAT at speeds up to 100+mph. I guess some people may be disappointed, especially if they received the car as a gift, but really expected a $50K beamer. The car gives you so much more than you expect and lives up to the Mustang name and legend! Gotta love it!!
