Strength:

Great handling, lots of power at the high rpm range, driving with the top down.

Weakness:

1. Too noisy with the top up ... had to buy an after market liner.

2. Plastic rear window ... easily scratches and must maintain with special UV plastic spray clear.

3. Speakers are only 15 watts ... replaced with Kenwood 140W that fit in with no modifications.

4. No Volt, Amp, Oil Pressure gauges ... this is a sports car, right?

5. No low RPM torque ... needs one more cylinder.

6. Cheap carpeting.

7. No power to unlock passenger door.

8. Cheap Radio with no clock.

9. Hate digital gauges.

10. Friends over 6' hardly fit inside.

11. Cruise control cancel button missing on steering column.

12. Passengers can't find door handle at night.

13. Didn't come with a alarm system.

Major transition from the Prelude. The Prelude was more civilized ... this car begs to be driven hard ... if you don't, its just like any other car but with a bone jarring ride ... highly recommend both a radar detector and radar jammer if you going to appreciate what this car can do. Be careful on wet roads ... did a 180 degree spinout flooring it out of a corner ... heard of other overconfident S2000 owners wrecking their car.

Strength:

Looks - Dig the aggressive Shark like looks. My mates wanna drive it and the girls wanna be driven in it... The car is absolute blast to drive at the 6000-9000RPM Gone Berzerk zone. Nice 6-Speed Short-Shift gear. Digital display makes driving akin to playing video games. Seats give great support and hips. All controls to aircon and stereo volume can be accessed from dashboard. Xenon lights are awesome. Ultra quick automatic reclining soft top. Truly a drivers car in all aspects.

Weakness:

Bland interior...Definately something they shouldve given more attention to. Lack of bells and whistles, no alarm(only immobilizer). No-frills stereo is hopeless...esp when driving roof down. Did Honda forget to throw in a clock?

Price paid is NZD$69,000. A 2.0L NA Engine that is capable of producing 246hp is truly a great feat! The reported 0-100kmh time of 6.1secs (0-60mph in 5.9secs for you Americans) would not be obtainable by most of us cause it means dropping the clutch at 8000RPM on first gear(ouch). To get most performance of the car you really need to stay above 6000RPM. Otherwise it feels like a normal street driver. Thats a good thing in my opinion! Engine is very flexible and is forgiving on the driver. Really gives the Boxster-S which is priced more than twice the price of the s2000, a run for its money. So if you looking for a convertible with some grunt but cant afford the Boxster, the s2000 is more than worthy. On the race track the s2000 would most likely have the edge over the boxster as well. Overall, its a great package. The s2000 has so much personality and looks great and drives even nicer. Makes you feel like a star everytime! Recommended!

200SX - Same horse power, more low end torque but s2000 seems alot swifter and confident in corners...
MGF - Less power and less capable above 100kmh. The frame rattles after 100kmh...
Honda Prelude - my first tatse of VTEC...but it was an auto...
Honda NSX - Good poke on the straight! And the engine sounds wonderful....of course it costs 3 times more than an s2000 as well...

i think it more a roadster than sport car

Strength:

Engine and it's reving abilities, comfortable seats, incredibly rigid for a roadster. Tons of fun on the twisties.

Weakness:

Below standard interior for price - ugly rev counter, plastics feel cheap even if interior well put together. Not a daily driver - having to rev the engine to get optimum power can get tiresome. Plastic rear window.

I'd recommend it as a fun drive but not as an only car. Sudden oversteer can be a problem if you are not an experienced driver.

I've driven an Audi TT and Mazda Miata. Audi is far more stylish but lacks the engine of the S2000. Miata almost as much fun but quite a bit cheaper, more common on the roads.

Strength:

The car is the best bang for the buck in the world. Don't listen to the people who wrote bad things above, They are just JEALOUS they can not afford one. You can race, match and beat the following cars if you know what you are doing: Mustangs (ALL except Cobra R), (Trans AMs and Camaros excluding RAM AIRs, BMW M3, BMW Z3 M, BMW M Coupe. Porsche Boxster and Boxster S......... Older NSXs with the 3.0 engine and 5speed.

Weakness:

Speakers sound awfull, so i replaced them.

Best time acheived up to now 13.7 at 102.7 MPH,
Top speed 265 Km/h (165 MPH).

If you like kicking Snob BMW and Porsche ass and enjoy women coming up to you and asking you for a ride. This is the car you want. Unless you are willing to spend 60k or more. So basically, best bang for buck, this side of a 911.

Strength:

VERY VERY eye catching. You're gonna get a bunch of looks in this thing! Very nimble, pretty fast, and an easy drop-top...

Weakness:

That damn plastic window, stratosphere high torque and horsepower RPM, little interior storage. Redundant controls for radio on left hand side of driver (cost), and digital display.

Actually, a firend of mine just bought one, so we cruise around in it a lot... I've driven it a few times and I love riding in it. The radio is so-so and the legroom is awesome for such a small car. I'm 6' and he's 6'1" and we have no problems. I agree that you have to drive it like you hate it for it to move, though. It's scary when you first hit 7000 RPM and you plant your right foot on the floorboard. That's when it takes off. 0-60 is pitiful, but 30-90 is fast as all hell. The rear window is plastic which SUCKS and they made this redundant radio stuff to the left of the driver. Now, it's nice not having to lean over and change the channel (I know, how much leaning could you POSSIBLY have to do in a car this small?), but I wish they'd have saved the money and put it into a real rear window.
Another gripe: I hate digital speedos and tachys. They look unprofessional and tacky. The rest of the car has a retro type feel to it and then they add new age digital crap.
The center console has carpet that covers half of it- I would have used leather all around.
From the front, the car looks MEAN. Make no mistake about it- you WILL get noticed from this angle. The back is pretty boring, however- no real artistic merits to speak of. I would've taken some ideas from the Z8 and Viper and given it a narrow, menacing taillight to match the menacing front.
For 35-38 grand, I can't think of a better, more eye-catching car. The corvette is beautiful, but way too common now. I hardly notice them anymore t'll beat the crap out of an s2000. For 10 grand more (conv), it should. The Z3 is even worse (and it's much slower). Now, the Z3 M and the M3 are a whole different story performance-wise, but still not quite the eye candy that is the S2000. The Camero and Mustang are high school all over again. The Porsche boxster is also quite striking, but underpowered And you're paying for the name. The Boxster S rocks, but costs more than a fully loaded corvettte. We're inching towards Viper and used NSX-T territory here.
Basically, if 35k was all I was willing to spend, this car would be at the top of a very short list indeed. If you can get one.

Strength:

Handling is top notch. Acceleration is awesome above 30mph, at its best above 60. Braking is unbelievably good. Ride is surprisingly soft despite great handling. Exhaust tone is sooo cool.

Acceleration-wise this car will blow doors off any Z3, Miata, or MR-2. The only competition in its class is the M-Roadster and Boxster S.. For handlingn only the Miata is comparable. I like the interior - it is simple and effective and doesn't require a lot of attention.

Weakness:

Loud for some, but quieter than my last vehicle. Plastic window does suck but it is much bigger than what a glass one would be.

A car like this is hard to own. Always have to worry about it..

This is an awesome car. Beautiful to look at and even more beauty behind the wheel. I get looks galore and it gathers crowds when parked.

This may not be the best daily driver car. Cabin storage is limited, but ok for some. Trunk space is decent, but not great.

Strength:

OHH MAN....this car is awesome. The top speed is absolutely great. I got this one up to 173 mph on a 4 mile straight away with a rolling start. The handling is good. Brakes are good. Suspension is ok. The body style is really cool and different. More cars are going to try and copy this style.

Weakness:

To small for me.

Paid 46000 for this one. It was definetly worth it because i like real fast cars. I woud reccomend this to a speed and adrenaline junkie! GREAT CAR!

Bmw-z-3....this car is almost identical to the bmw. Personally i would take the s2000 mainly cause oof the price tag.

Strength:

A good buddy of mine dad owns it, he let us take it for a road trip for a weekend. I was overall pretty happy with it. Very sporty interior, nice red leather seats, cool push button start, and a very unique and functional tachometer and speedometer set up (it looks like an eye with an long eyebrow above it ). Nice sliver paint job, and an engine that puts out the most horsepower in the world for the given displacement. 120hp per liter, pretty damn impressive. Also the, top comes up and down fairly easy

Weakness:

A couple things i haver to gripe about. First off, you have to drive the car like you hate it to get the claimed preformance out of it. If you want that 0-60 5 second time be ready to push it to 8500 each time you shift. Thats a little on the rediculous side. If you shifted like you would in any other sports car its 0-60 would be around 10 seconds. eeechhh. Plus, no clock anyhweres in it, i spent half an hour looking, and no clock, plus plastic back window gives a somewhat cheap feeling.

Pretty good roadster. By far the cheapest roadster, so it has a lot of appeal. If you don't mind driving a car to extereme limits to get sports car preformance out of it, you'll like it. If your in need for a roadster, but on a sub 40 thousand budget, the s-2000 is the roadster for you.

Strength:

Competitive with other roadsters, broad rpm range, good handling, light weight.

Weakness:

Very steep power curve, nearly no torque, plastic rear window, sounds like a toy car when in reverse, and the styling just doesn't look good anymore-ugly cokebottle curves

Definately get an American muscle car if you want acceleration. If you want pure driving fun, get a Corvette or a Cobra R. Don't buy this thing, it's just not worth it.

My brother's 1999 Mustang GT smokes it in acceleration, but I win in the twisties.
